    The compression is real!!! The audio cannot handle this LIVE warmup!!! I create music and the difference is when you are in the middle of that arc/circle it becomes SURREAL. Your mind cannot fathom what it is computing. Go to a REAL, LIVE performance. The difference is REAL.

    The second singer was Veerle Casteleyn, a Belgian actress and ballerina. She played and sang Jemima in many productions of Cats including in England. But here the 1998 film her voice was dubbed by Helen Massey, as the production team was concerned that Veerle Casteleyn would have a noticeable Flemish accent.

    I appreciate collier’s applied knowledge, but his actual music is severely overrated imo. He relies heavily on his features to give what his music always lacks, which is soul and connection. It seems like he hopes to find it, or hide the lack of it, in layers and layers of impressive technicality, but only ever achieves an overly-calculated mechanical sound, especially when trying to emulate “soulful” textures in this song. It just feels like that THX audio sound at the movies to me

    • @biggactor
      @biggactor 3 месяца назад

      What is your measuring stick for overrated/underrated music? Let’s set aside for a second the fact that this man has six Grammy awards. If the music is not something that is of your taste, then your statement would make more sense. Jacob once said “there is no such thing as good music or bad music.There’s just music that’s comfortable to you.” Well I submit there’s no such thing as underrated or overlrated music. Who’s to say what music is rated on any scale anyway.

    • @MF-wf5ww
      @MF-wf5ww 3 месяца назад

      @@biggactor I feel like i already explained what my measurement is in my first comment. I admit its is completely objective, but i feel like people conflate his expertise with the quality of his music. while there is a correlation there from the technical side, his music inspires little feeling in me personally. Yebba’s part in this song eclipses anything jacob added to it, and i think it heavily contributed to the overall popularity of their short collaboration, because it has that …connection? It’s not a thing that’s easy to explain or measure. It is difficult to convince someone of it who doesn’t understand, but there is an intrinsic human connection that i feel his music lacks, and it is invaluable in music that I appreciate the most. It is something that is inseparable from Soul music, so this song makes this particular shortcoming of his even more glaring to me.

    Every Dirty Loops song is amazing and different from the other with lots of small (and big) surprises for you. After listening to them for 10 years + I still find new things in their music, I hadn't noticed... So keep reacting to them. For once I'm going to suggest something other than Dirty Loops though. They're from Sweden - I'm from Denmark, so I'll give you some interesting danish artists to listen to: Savage Rose - f.ex. “A girl I knew” from 1968, "Wild Child" or "Dear little mother". Savage Rose is an amazing band - and the singer Annisette is still going strong. They were offered a big record deal in the US but turned it down because they had to sing for the American soldiers - and they were (and still) are very politically aware. Alex Vargas - f.ex. “Shackled up”, “Solid ground” or “Higher love”. Or the amazing cover of “Police bells & Church Sirens” from the danish tv-show “Toppen af Poppen”. If you want an amazing singer - a bit like Jonah from Dirty Loops, but different :-) Nephew: f.ex. "007 is also go gonna die" Tina Dico/Dickow - f.ex. “Sacre Coeur” (singer song writer) Carpark North f.ex. “Transparent & Glasslike” (rock) Mads Langer “Monsters in my mind”, “Fact-fiction” or “Elephant” (Pop) D-A-D "Sleeping my day away" (rock - watch a live version, they are fire) Agnes Obel - f.ex. “Riverside” og “Just so” (for something different :-)) Dune “Dry lips” And a couple of "reaction hits": Lukas Graham f.ex. "Seven years" and The Danish national symphony orchestra "The good, the bad and the ugly"

    Want to see a bit of bass magic? Have a look at Run Away. But build it up, by first checking out World on fire or some old cover that others suggests, then Follow the light, and then Run Away. It will be a small adventure into fun, surprises, quality, and delight. Of course there are many other venues to take when enjoying Dirty Loops. Any of them will be a joy! You certainly have the ability to enjoy and appreciate them; that makes me so glad!

    Yes, do more Dirty Loops, it's a rabbit hole, not one bad song. They also did a side project called Songs for Lovers and there are some great songs from Jonah Nilsson solo. They recently released a new song with a nod at '80's music and style. Album is coming. I saw them live about a year and a half ago and they are great! An artist I found a couple years ago is Valeriy Stepanov. He is a multi musician and plays mainley keys but almost any other instrument. He always surrounds himself with other top-notch musicians, both domestic and international wizards. A few starters would be Believe in Yourself, Seva Guzov, The Sun and On the Stork's Wings. Unbeliavebly good songs! 🤯🤯🤯🤯🔥🔥🔥🔥

    Glad you’ve enjoyed this masterpiece by Dirty Loops, Pies, - but then everything they’ve ever created could be called a masterpiece… Jonah’s vocals (and keyboard/piano playing) are amongst the top ones out there at the moment. Every time I listen to this track, his vocals blow me away. Yes, it’s all him. You’ve mentioned getting Snarky Puppy, Herbie Hancock and Stevie Wonder vibes, and I think it’s all in there, together with everything else they’ve ever listened to, from classical to jazz, pop, funk, rock, RnB, you name it. They know no boundaries in terms of genres. As someone once said: “Dirty Loops put everything into a blender, mix it up, and then seem to press the Stop button just at the perfect moment” 😉 I love the way they write and arrange their songs, so as to give everyone the space to shine. Henrik is an absolute master on bass, and of playing perfectly in the pocket with Aron (drums). When studying music at the Royal College of Music, Stockholm, they both spent many hours, after everyone had gone home, to practise locking in together. Henrik is revolutionizing bass playing as we know it. Not just his slap bass and funk technique and feel, he’s inventing new ways of playing bass. It’s insane. Check out his collaborations with other jazz/prog/fusion musicians. Aron co-writes a lot of Dirty Loops tunes, lyrics, even melodic lines, as well as some or most of Henrik’s bass lines (!). On top of that he does all the visual editing of their music videos. Jonah grew up with both parents being choir masters and taking him to choir rehearsals etc. from the earliest age. One of his aunts was a locally famous Swedish opera singer. Other family members are also musicians, and he said that it gets pretty nerdy around the dinner table sometimes ;) He started singing practically from age 1, but only discovered his ability to sing lead vocals in a band later on in life. He studied both classical as well as jazz piano, and listened to everything from classical to jazz (Herbie and Chick Corea I’m sure being amongst them) to pop and everything else. Check out a three-part interview with Jonah on Stratele Studio’s RUclips channel. Other Dirty Loops tracks to check out (apart from most of them being mindbogglingly awesome) would be “Work Shit Out”, (warning: extended keyboard solos to die for, as well as a killer drum solo!🔥🔥), “Rock You”, “World on Fire” (🔥 Henrik bass solo alert!) or their cover of MJ’s “Thriller” in a collab with guitarist Cory Wong. All of them completely mindboggling. Then there is their latest release (dropped on March 7) of “Run Away”. And for the umpth time they have exploded the internet and removed boundaries we didn’t even knew existed! Enjoy 😉🙏👍
