Meet The Black Woman Who Invented Home Security
Before smart security systems, Marie Van Brittan Brown had already set the blueprint. In 1966, she patented the first-ever home security system, which included cameras, two-way intercoms, and remote-controlled door locks.
Her innovation laid the foundation for modern surveillance technology, CCTV, and smart home security systems used worldwide today.
Yet, her name is rarely mentioned. Let’s change that.

Not every Wi-Fi network is as it seems… Some are phantoms, set up by hackers to lure you into a trap! Connecting to these networks can expose your data, steal passwords, and put you at risk of a cyber haunt. Here’s how to keep those phantoms away: 1. Verify Network Names: Hackers often create networks with names similar to trusted ones-be sure you’re connecting to the right one. 2. Disable Auto...
Currently in a bootcamp and whew. I’m definitely not a quick learner 🤣😬 I like to digest my material
@@bibicouture if you have the ability to practice what you’re learning or creating any projects do that! I get the struggle Sis 😂✨
One question what did you study in cyber security? Computer science or just cyber security in bachelor ?? Have you done mssters??
Omg! Yes! I JUST came across your channel so forgive me if you covered this already. I am currently in my undergrad for psychology but prior ive had several certifications in healthcare ( OR tech, CNA, LPN etc). Ive always been interested in IT and I heard about all these different certifications. I didnt want to take any CompTIA certifications because I didnt know if I could land any job w/o a degree of some kind in IT. If you can talk more on where i can start or share a link to one of your videos… I would greatly appreciate it!!
❤
Just started watching your channel! Any advice to anyone that wants to get into IT or cybersecurity but has no experience? I know I would have to earn certifications and such but would you have any suggestions or recommendations on where to look exactly to get started? I’ve always been a tech head but I just never know where to look for further my knowledge. Thanks in advance!
Same basic principle as the modern free or lost flash drive. BTW never put a free flash drive in your computer.
Of course you look like that
Very interesting fact in a nice form, hope to see more of these videos!
More to come!

Important model to know and understand.
Yesirrr! 🤝🏾
@Cybershortieee A lot of people in the field say it's very saturated..... How do newcomers stand out from the rest seeking to get into the field & level up?
Thank you for your testimony! 🙌🏾 I’m going through the same process. I switched careers after earning an unrelated undergraduate degree. I completed my master’s in cybersecurity and am now in the Per Scholas IT Support boot camp. 🤣 I’m grateful for the opportunity, but it’s unrelated to cybersecurity. I'm unsure if I should see it through since everyone says the help desk is the best route, but many ppl in the field advise going straight to cyber.
@@JdforthecultureOMG I love this! Congrats on your recent degree! 🥳🥳 The help desk can be used as a stepping stone. Right now with the job industry like it is, I would say keep going and pushing forward. You never know what opportunities could come your way as a result!
I want to get into this but don't want to do another degree
@@wehttamak you don’t have to do another degree. But if you go that route make sure you are disciplined and you have a plan that you can stick to. Same with school. It’s just the structure that I needed.
Sis, you blessed my whole soul!! When you spoke on telling yourself, "Don't be afraid of taking challenges." As a result, "you're going to be better in 5 years!! I needed to hear this today. Simply paraphrased what I interpreted from you lol. Blessup

Definitely a bug regret for me too. 4 years for something useless 😅
I'm also looking to get into cybersecurity, but I have no degree as a black woman in the UAE.
Great analogy! It’s very easy to visualize

Cool subject
Ai spam content. Loser
Congratulations🎉🎉. Your journey truly is an inspiration for lots of people. However, i have a question. I saw on your graduation post you said "imma network engineer" but on your story here you talked about getting a cyber security degree. Did you get into a cyber security program or network engineer program. I know they can add onto/complete each other but i was just curious
@@N1portequoi1 such a great question! So the masters program was cybersecurity. However the job offer I first received was for a network engineer role. About maybe 10 days before my start date I basically was told that my role was changing but that they would provide details later upon start - they made it sound minor. Later on down the line, I found out that the VP over role wanted everyone in network engineering to have an engineering degree. So me and about maybe 5-6 other people were removed from that role and place elsewhere. It stung real bad at first, but I’m happy it happened that way. I didn’t like the work that they were doing after getting closer with a few of them.
You did a big one sis❤

Thank you fav 💪🏽🤗
Nice to see you again
How were you able to land that 1st job? Did you have projects to show your experience/ certs or was your Masters enough for them to interview you?
@@kekef3620 masters was def not enough lol. First I had to get my resume right to showcase my skillset. Then I went through my syllabus and added all the projects I worked on during the program. I also added the Security+ to my tool belt. So all of that allowed me to get an internship which then allowed me to gain experience in the field. Then I got a full time opportunity. Hope this helps. 😊
