Hi! For the next two years, I plan to pay off my mortgage before I retire from teaching in May of 2030. Right now, I have no credit card debt just a student loan (next payment is due in September of 2029) and my mortgage. I want to pay off the mortgage first to ensure I have security and then will continue to make payments in the amount of the mortgage payments towards the student loan. Eating out is my biggest vice and I plan to curb this habit. Great video, thank you for uploading.

Minced veggies and wheat germ also work to stretch out ground beef, mostly for meat loaf or taco

Although I dont run my coffee through the machine twice, I DO just add more to the pot (make a partial pot) from yesterday if I dont drink it all the first day. lol I dont tell anyone I do that, but I have for years. We have a standard drip coffee maker, not a keurig type. Im subbie number 6 and looking forward to all your wisdom and videos and hoping to learn something new - which wont be easy since Ive been frugal (out of necessity) since I was born and then later in life to afford/enjoy the things we love by doing without the things that arent that important to us, as we are low wage income earners. Setting up for retirement now in about 5 years. I believe we will be a one of the few that actually will earn more in retirement that we did working, from SS and our 401k (which isnt that large as it never really worked out for either of us despite following everyone's advice on putting 6% away every paycheck to get our employers contributions). We have been through 3 really tough market losses in our working lives which have never been recouped, save not for trying.

My parents used to bicker about money every evening when I was a teen, so I promised myself I would never get into debt. Did I work hard to keep that promise? lol no, I mooched off my parents for 2 decades until they retired, and now I'm helping them pay for things.

Hi just jumping off your comment so no hate to you okay. I don't see the point of being so frugal to the point of being insane honestly. Why would you actually buy other people's old shit that is seriously eww I'd rather buy new and take good care of my own shit tbh. The only thing I would do differently is build my own house the way I want it. Eating out is overrated anyways because you never know how clean the food prep was to begin with. So my fin Al question is why not rather be minimalist instead of literally trash picking and who needs 4 vacations a year now thatis a waste of money make it one vacay overseas instead.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts! I totally understand that frugality isn’t for everyone. Buying secondhand isn’t just ‘buying old stuff’-I see it as finding value and reducing waste. And minimalist and frugal mindsets actually overlap a lot since they both focus on simplifying life.
