I’m from honduras
Cool! I’ve had some good experiences there.
5wt
5wt is a great all around rod!
caught a 40 pound carp on a 5wt once
Nice
@@5starcalebno he didnt
Crazy! Definitely do-able, but puts a lot of extra stress on the fish for sure.
@@flyfishiowa yeah for sure fought him for like 35 min haha

Because water has a musical mind, of course!

Wow, very generous!
Oh my
Fly fishing looks so hard! 😢
Practice, and you will pick it up pretty quickly😀
@@flyfishiowanever casted a baitcaster, touched a baitcaster once in my whole life, and never seen a fly fishing rod in my whole life irl ever.
Well let’s at least change the fly fishing side of that! Visit our website or get in touch with us if you have any fly fishing questions. FlyfishIA.com
That’s so coool❤
Good catch
Much appreciated 🙏 but probably more luck than anything with this one! 😆
Great vid
Thanks Tycoon Bro! 😎
When trout fishing you always fish against the current for trout.
Not sure where you heard that, but you can definitely catch trout in more ways than one.
People really can’t tell the difference between large and smallmouth? That’s crazy
Some people just need a little experience/education and they will get it figured out. But yes, I have people tell me regularly that they catch smallmouth bass in ponds here.
I found this very informative. The problem of coastal eutrophication is cause directly by excess nutrients and a lot of problem comes from fertilizers. The big problems with nitrogen started after WW2 with industrial nitrogen extraction through the Haber-Bosch process to extract nitrogen from the atmosphere. This provided cheap nitrogen based fertilizer that allowed for rapid agriculture development because the availability of nitrogen was no long a limiting factor. I see it a source control problem that should be regulated to so that waters meet water quality standards. Agricultural practices won't change without incentives to do so. Something like limiting the atmospheric nitrogen extraction to an amount equivalent the minimum amount needed to fertilize the acreage under cultivation. Additionally practices to recapture and treat agricultural runoff to remove nutrient should be considered. Before Haber-Bosch animal waste was more more of a commodity for farmers because that was where most fertilizer was obtained through spreading and composting. It is a problem we need to solve because HB nitrogen has exponentially increased agricultural capacity we need robust plans to deal with the long term consequences of that.
What you said all makes sense. I recommend reading “The Swine Republic” by Chris Jones, it speaks a lot to various aspects of the problem, including things you mentioned.
Sick Video 🤙🏼
Thanks dude!
Beautiful trout. Nice catch.
They are incredible. Much appreciated 🙏
Beautiful colors! Tight lines🎣
They are super vibrant colors!… right back at you 🎣

🙏
What a bass! Targeting can be a double edged sword for me, any tug will do tho
Wise words for an angler, “any tug will do”… thanks for watching 👍🏼
Great net, but still made in China.
Unfortunately true.
I don't even fish, but I want to just stand there & observe.
Absolutely, hard to NOT want to be there.
Now thats Heaven on Earth
It is a beautiful place 🌞
Almost all the brown trout you catch in N.E. Iowa are wild. Most the rainbows are stocked. Nice video, best regards, Chris
You are 100% correct!
Just got my rackham. The why it is stock my fly rods just fall out of the holders on the tackle rac. What did you add to them to make them work? I like the setup!
Thanks for watching! I glued some foam in and around the openings of the rack. Definitely not built for fly rods but the foam reduces the gaps and allows for a snug fit for the fly rods. You may have to experiment with the diameter of the foam you use!
Pretty cool! I've just started fly fishing off an inflatable paddleboard and it has been a blast. Pretty sweet way to explore Iowa's waterways. Well done!
Much appreciated. And totally agree, phenomenal vessel to explore our waters!
Класс это просто рай

Nothing better
Yo
Cool catch mr k
Much appreciated 🙏

What is the longest a pair of your Freestone waders lastest?
These ones are still going strong since around 2019-2020ish. Haven’t used them as extensively in the past two years, but I probably wear them 6-10 times a year.
@@flyfishiowa Thank you! Very helpful! Instant sub
Much appreciated 🙏
You must be 3 foot tall to use a hand net for a walking staff. :D
😆👍🏼
Planning a trip with the wife & son in a few weeks! How does your wife like her waders? i got a similar looking pair for mine
She likes them a lot! Caddis brand I believe, only bummer is no belt loops for a wading belt.
If my business did 1-10, 000 of that I'd be fined out of existence
Good perspective, that’s wild to think about.
Looked like a fun trip to a great area! Nice video!
It was a great area! Much appreciated. 🙏
new sub
Much appreciated 🙏
Your right the republicans in ohio always try to blow it off like its nothing when we know different and it takes time for all chemicals to leach down to water table to enter wells but you very seldom hear epa or the chemical companies tell you that
A submission was just made to the EPA on behalf of the Iowa Environmental Council recently, so hopefully the EPA will take notice of some of our water quality issues soon.
this world is disgusting. im pretty sure Enlil came back already though. Really just a sad thing humans are choosing to do right now.
Thankfully there are still people who fighting for good and right things in our world!
Do you have links to the reports or resources to learn about the fresh water quality in Iowa? Can you share please?
The Iowa Environmental Council is a good organization to follow for updates about this kind of thing. Supporting local conservation groups like Trout Unlimited, the Coldwater Conservancy, Isaak Walton League is another good way to stay involved.
My brother lives 3 blocks away from this, I fished this river all the time, hell, even my regular lakes and streams there are no more frogs and crawdads, we are nothing more than a corporate farming wasteland now. Let's not forget the cancer rates here in Iowa, lost my mom and uncle, both were in their mid 60's. Kim could care less, fuck this shithole state.
I’m sorry for your loss. Let’s push for cleaner water and make sure to vote and speak up on issues surrounding clean water in our state.
There needs to be a large buffer zone of trees between fields and waterways. However farmers plow straight to the edge of the river, which also causes erosion. Now RUclips won't let anyones see my comments because the truth is dangerous so I've been shadow-banned, which is also unacceptable, like mass pollution.
Buffer strips are certainly good practice compared to planting all the way to the stream bank.
Redhorse
Boom 💥
Sucker
Nice! 👍🏼 which species? Lots of suckers to choose from!
So sad
Incredibly sad.
Silly question but does eating foods that don't use synthetic fertilizers help prevent disasters like this? Does eating organic help?
Interesting thought. Ultimately, if you ate “organic”, this spill would have still occurred; it was due to human error leaving a valve open.
@@flyfishiowa right but do organic farms use substances that would be as toxic?
@@NLA108 it’s not necessarily about the chemical itself - it’s about the volume. Almost any chemical in too high of quantity can be toxic. Combined with Iowa’s already nutrient-rich soils, the extra nutrients make water quality really bad when they run off into the waterways. This instance was just an extremely high-volume discharge. The same is likely true at an “organic” facility- some runoff will likely occur- but you might not see the same volume or quantity (I’m not an expert, just my suspicion)
@@NLA108 and to be fair, I’m unaware of what chemicals organic farms use as fertilizer, but I’m guessing it would be nitrate-rich regardless of if it was “synthetic” or “natural”
Cool thank you
Another spill? This one liquid nitrogen! Trains derailing with chemicals, oil spills, and now this! There's nothing to see here, folks. This is all perfectly normal! 🤬
Sad, but unfortunately we are imperfect humans that cause some problems in our world. Wish we cared more about our wild spaces…
Red oak is corrupted... sheriff definitely is .
$6000 fine thats totally appropriate
I didn’t see that news until you just mentioned it. That’s terrible.
That's all they got fined??
@@NLA108 according to an article by The Gazette, $6k so far, 10k is max fine allowed by the DNR unless DNR asks for more restitution with the help of legal courts.
@@NLA108update that I’m reading now is that there’s been a 10k fine issued.
