    The tpms sensor needs to be 180° off from the duckhead when you mount the tire to ensure that it’s totally untouched and the tire will drop down over it. You can easily break a sensor installing a tire. Ask me how I know.

    I feel vibrations at 65mph+...could it be tires? I had them balanced but I don't trust the ones I went to and it was standard balancing not road force balancing...struts are original and I'm at 180k miles so maybe it could be them?

    I have a Jeep Wrangler with 33 x 12 Mud and Snow Tires on it. when I had the tires mounted the shop put Ballance Beads in the tires instead of Weights. It's semi ok. But sometimes when I stop and Start again, there is lots of Vibrations at 40 - 45 mph and again at 60 - 65 mph. then the next Stop and Start, might smooth it out, very little to no vibrations. can this be corrected with Road force Balancing? removing the Balance Beads and using weights instead?

    • @JimVanbladelHerseyAuto
      @JimVanbladelHerseyAuto 9 месяцев назад

      In my experience road noise and vibration comes with the territory when you have big gnarly tires. This machine will force match which is probably the best option to get it as good as it can be.

  • @josephklimchock5412
    @josephklimchock5412 Год назад

    I wish these machines turned the tire/wheel assembly at highway speeds, since this is where most vibrations occur. A tire will act and run very different at 30 than it will at 60-70. Having said that, I wish I could find a tire shop that had tire guys that took the time to really dial in a new tire. Most tire shops are nothing but rush, rush rush. I now have my 2nd set of new tires on my E350 Super Duty that vibrate/shimmy at anything over 50. Yeah, the tire shop rebalanced them and it made a bit of difference but I found one rear tire has probably at least .75 inch lateral runout, the wheel is NOT bent. I will now, take back to the tire shop to show them and ask why the wonderful Hunter did not pick this variation up and eject the tire??

    • @wyldanimal2

      It's a Tire and Wheel Balancer. It Measures the force of Unbalance using the rotational speed of the machine. Once Balanced, there shouldn't be any Nasty harmonics at higher speeds. ( provided the operator, performed a proper balance to begin with ) So spinning at 60-70mph on the Machine isn't required. I worked in the Machine Tool Industry and we had to balance Mechanical Assemblies. such as Jet Engine turbine assemblies we used a Schenck balance Machine and a roundness machine called a TalyRond. It didn't rotate to 10,000 rpm, but could balance assemblies rated up to and above that rpm, using slow speed rotation. while these machines are on a much higher precision than a tire balancer. the principle is the same. Measure the imbalance at lower RPM, and correct it, to within tolerance for the higher rpm.

    I had Goodyear put an expensive set of tires on my van. It had a odd vibration, and a Wierd road noise afterwards. They balanced it a couple of times, but nothing helped. I put up with it for about three years. I finally took it to a shop that could load force balance the tires. Two tires were good, but one was off by 45 and the other by 50. Goodyear wouldn’t do anything about it. I replaced those with Michelin tires, and no more issues. I haven’t bought Goodyear tires since then.

    my car has ZERO vibration with the stock wheels and tires. Purchased a NEW set of wheels and tires, then got a vibration at 65 mph and a slight wobble on the front end at idle speed. Took the wheels and tires to 5 different tire shops and 2 bent rim repair shops and they tell me the wheels and tires are FINE ... I gave a guy a ride in the car with the wheels and he DID feel the tire hop but said it was my suspension. So i said, why is that hop NOT there with the factory wheels and tires, but it IS there with the new wheels and tires and he said i dont know but your wheels are fine.

    Where did you first check that rotor with all that runout? I would like to know how you check that your mounting tooling is true and that it is not causing runout. Runout is excessive with my 4100, the shaft is true, but the faces of the mounting tooling are not perpendicular to the shaft. At the outside edge of a "finished" rotor, the runout is .006" It's driving me crazy. Did you ever clamp your tooling in the lathe to surface your tooling?

    • @JimVanbladelHerseyAuto
      @JimVanbladelHerseyAuto 2 года назад

      I measure runout on the car. I did it on the lathe as a demo for the kids. Stacked tolerances make the lathe measurements kind of worthless.

  • @nixran

    You do break the tire down in clockwise. No one must have shown you that once you bring your demount rollers in position there is a pin (black plastic ball) that you push on top that locks the demount rollers in position. That way you are pushing down on pedal demounting. More comfortable that way. Also, the second stage on the inflation pedal activates the blaster hose (on the left side of tire changer). It doesn't increase air in the inflation hose. Good demo otherwise.

    You have to apply both inner and outer weights as indicated when using SmartWeight or you negate the very purpose of that mode. If you look at your first spin, SmartWeight showed static balance in the red and couple balance green (within tolerance). When you just put weight on the inner and did a check spin , you threw your couple balance AND static balance out. That’s why the machine requested more correction weight than before plus wasted your time. Change the mode to dynamic if you want to balance one side at a time like that (plus it’s a better balance). Scroll to SmartWeight, press and hold the control knob for a few seconds and it will let you choose between static and dynamic. There is also a fine mode that will disable rounding if the car is very sensitive to vibration.

    • @ACommenterOnYouTube
      @ACommenterOnYouTube Год назад

      yea i noticed that too, he slapped on the outer weights and spun it ... WHY ?? Now you just threw the balance off AGAIN and the computer has to recalculate again. Put your weights inside and out, THEN spin it to make sure its good

    • @JimVanbladelHerseyAuto
      @JimVanbladelHerseyAuto 9 месяцев назад

      When I was taught by the hunter rep he did one then the other to account for rounding. In a job shop in sure you would just slap them both on. But in my school we have an extra min and I'm ok with them kids getting the extra practice and maybe saving me.25oz.

    • @JimVanbladelHerseyAuto
      @JimVanbladelHerseyAuto 3 года назад

      It isn't necessary to balance a wheel. But if you are trying to diagnose a vibration issue it's a useful tool. Doing the RF gives me a piece of mind that I'm not sending an oval tire out on the road. That being said, I've used non-RF machines and the tire still balanced and were fine in the road. So is it 100% necessary?... No. (Don't tell me hunter rep I said that :) ) Is it a good thing to do to make sure you don't have a car come back?... IMO yes.
