You know,i agree with you with yakuza 4, i knew the series (had yakuza 2 on ps2) but got into it with yakuza 0 when it came out in ps4, lucky for me kiwami 1 was already out and kiwami 2 was close to releasing, so i played them in order, when the remaster collection came out and i finally got to try out Yakuza 4, as soon as it started i could FEEL how better of a game it was going to be compared to the earlier tittles, and while i love yakuza 5 the Saejima story in the snowy village was and still is a pain in the ass to get trough, definetly not looking forward to getting all achievements in Yakuza 5, hell, I've been trying to do it with Yakuza 0 for 2 years and i'm still not done, had the time to complete everything in LAD, Gaiden and kiwami in that time.

I started with gaiden. This, inshun and like a dragon are probably my favorites.

I just got done playing 0-6 right in a row, and this list is hilarious because 1: i couldnt wait to get done with 4. It was fhe only game in the series i didnt care about almost at all 2: i wasted more time in yak3 and yak6 than the others and they're so low here.

No one cares but I gave this series a chance and played yakuza 0-3 started 4 and got to Tanimura and decided to take a yakuza break for about 2 months. Going to jump back in today. For anyone who hasn’t played these games just know they are absolutely fantastic and please give them a chance. The memes actually held me back for so long because I thought they were just completely goofy and that was all they were. I was so wrong, the stories are fantastic. Yes the games have a lot of goofy elements but it only ever adds to the charm.

Don’t forget the lack of damage you do to bosses in yakuza 3

Times like this im glad I chose to play these games in releade order rather than chronology. Playing a localization of Kenzan right now, and enjoying the series. Looking forward to getting to the later games, and especially 0. I feel it would have been q huge disappointment to start on 0 (and Kenzan and Ishin wouldnt be as fun if i didn't knoe the characters already in a different context.)

I feel like if you started with the ps2 games, you’d appreciate 3 so much more. At the time at was a great game, but it definitely shows its age now. It wasn’t even supposed to be released in the US, fans were translating the game just so an American audience could play it. Then when sega didn’t bring it to the US, they cut about 30% of the side content.

What elevates Yakuza 4 above the rest is the theming, Akiyama is amazing and all his substories are about him helping others because he was helped and Kiryu being the one responsible and Saejima having the theme of responsibility and brotherhood it's absolutely best story, Kiwami 2 is also great but it didn't have this consistency in theme. Seven does so many things amazingly and is emotional and yakuza zero is amazing in being silly and giving so much context to kiwami (believe kiwami is the worst but zero elevates it so much).

Yakuza 2 kiwami is the worst. It's literally the cr@ppy gameplay of Yakuza 6(yakuza 6 is still a better game than kiwami 2) while being a worse remake of Yakuza 2 with missing content.

Is it just me or Yakuza Kiwami 2 was clunky as all hell like the story was great but the combat system was super bad compared to kiwami 1. Just ragdolls flying all over the place.
