I just had this problem about a week ago we had torrential thunderstorms two days in a row and I was driving in it. I could hear the water pouring in since it was at night. I vacuumed the water up at the gas station and permanently removed that rubber piece. Now it can no longer clog up with dirt. This seems to be an issue with lots of Mustangs mine is a 2005.

Used to have a 1957 XLCH. Now sorry I sold it, but at the time I was raising 4 sons and simply did not have the time or money for a scooter. One of the prime mechanics of the Brother Speed club of Boise rebuilt the engine when I first got the bike, but it needed a lot more work that I simply could not afford, at the time. Certainly miss that bike, but the damage it did to my knee with the slipping starter gears is now requiring me to replace my knee.

Had a similar problem but the water was behind my driver's seat and some in the back behind the back seat. Turns out the drain area in the quarter panel beside the back windows was clogged up and draining so slowly that it was filling up and overflowing before it could slowly drip out during heavy rains. On another video a guy took a pressure washer and put it down into the space with the top down and sprayed it slowly, loosening and blowing out the gunk and debris that was blocking the drainage area. Repeat a few times until the water is gushing out and the drips of remaining water are less and less. Saved me a trip to the dealership and then keeping my car for days in search of a leak that wasn't even there. And hundreds of dollars as well.

Love the sportsters , but not (what I consider ) , the very ugly model 'S ' . Wish they would have named it something else .
