You know the cal bears might not have a great football team, but they certainly do have an awesome band.
When I was little (in California's central valley) folks used to say that some people say "ALMOND" and some people say "AMUND" (for almond) was because to get them out of the tree, you shake the L out of them.

Conducting? a JAZZ GROUP?! Sheeeyuuuuut, That ain't Jazz. :] Just kidding. You guys try and work more on keeping together and not relying on conducting and you"ll do great. My teacher always gives us a beat and tempo and then we cover the rest.
