F1's Eddie Jordan and the Robbers 'With or without you' with EJ playing Spoons
The surprise highlight of the 1886 Isle of Man TT gigs for me was Eddie Jordan & the Robbers.
In 'With or Without You', the humbly charismatic F1 legend Eddie Jordan (EJ) took centre stage and played spoons, but he spent most of the gig sat at the back playing drums or introducing songs with wonderful anecdotes.
EJ's band were all extremely talented musicians and great entertainers. Their set list was filled to the brim with well known floor fillers. I'd love to hear them go beyond covers and use their stage to play some original material.
If you get chance to see them, you are in for a treat.

When Justin Hawkins from The Darkness spotted Foxy 🦊 rocking out in the audience at their 1886 Isle of Man TT Gig he asked Foxy on stage. Foxy's sheer enthusiasm and air guitar dance moves during 'I Believe in a Thing Called Love' had the audience chanting Foxy's name and The Darkness creating an instant song in Foxy's honour. 25 March 2020: This was the final sunrise before the first covid lockdown. I stood alone as I filmed from first light to sunrise in the hope that it would bring a little love and light to a world that was pulling up the shutters. When the clouds started rolling in, I nearly packed my camera up and walked away, but, I'm very glad I didn't. Even though, the sun was hidden from view, the sky was b...

@@Eclectickle Certainly, I consider this loco to be the real life Thomas since they put that lovely face on him every Christmas. A lot of elements from the IoM Railway were borrowed for Sodor's railways in the original book series.
You're correct. The Isle of Man Railway is known to be an inspiration for Rev W Awdry's Thomas the Tank Engine books. Did you know that Sodor took it's name from the official title of the Isle of Man's "Bishop of Sodor and Man" and it's place on the map is approximately where the land bridge was between the Isle of Man and Cumbria in the Mesolithic era. It's also the reason why they used Castletown Railway Station as Shining Time Station in Thomas and the Magic Railroad (although personally, I prefer the books).
Stan Laurel & Oliver Hardy will always be the immortal kings of comedy.

The KICKness!
I got back from a trip to IOM yesterday - this guy got on a bus I was on, I was tempted to ask him where to go for rock music, but settled on going to Quids Inn again, and he showed up there too! I saw posters about the Darkness gig, presumably it wasn't actually in 1886 itself as that didn't seem to be a particularly big venue? Mind you I only ever saw the ground floor.
You should have asked him, he's a genuinely nice guy and he knows the Islands rock scene inside out. Quids is always a great choice for music especially if you like it loud. The Darkness gig and the other 1886 gigs that you saw posters for were held in Villiers Square directly opposite 1886 bar. They were part of the Isle of Man TT Festival entertainment so you'd have to come back to the Island at the end of May / beginning of June next year if you want to see big names. If you're just looking for great music there's lots of smaller venues on the Island with live music most weekends - check out the Isle of Man gig guides on Facebook to see what's on.
This is rock.
:D
this is amazing, saw him (foxy / jason) at bushys, he loves music
Taylor Hawkins on drums ??
Unlikely as he passed away a few months ago... That's Rufus Taylor!
Roger Taylor's (Queen's drummer) son. Rufus 'tiger' Taylor. been w/ the Darkness since 2015 🤘 and speaking of the amazing and now departed Taylor Hawkins (Foo Fighter drummer), all music lovers should watch the two epic Taylor Hawkins Tributes in UK and US shortly after Taylor's passing. Justin & Ru, along with a host of top tier singers & musicians played a celebration of Taylor's life arranged by Dave Grohl. The thing went on for 5 or 6 hours! Joe Walsh reassembled The James Gang doing Walk Away, Funk 49 and The Bomber. Wolfgang Van Halen tour it up w/ Jus on vocals. Def Leppard, Brian May, Pink, the Foo, Joan Jett, Black Sabbath, YES man John Davison.....on & on. a Concert for the Ages. star-studded line-ups were stellar fr both continents! But have to say, the US show was the best.
who is he?
A local guy who lives to be at gigs.
This is what it's all about!
Awe Foxy, you legend, but I think if you wore trousers you mite not have lost your balls. 😂 Genuinely though dude you got up on stage with Darkness and prob had Justin write a new verse. Again , legend 👏
You're a good guy Justin.
HA! Shazam?
And a good time was had by all
Awwww this guy was stood next to me on the barrier. They were so lovely to him, it was beautiful. Nice one Foxy, dreams can come true!
This was my most favourite moment of the whole show, mainly due to my excitement for Jason!
Absolutely fantastic, the guy is a manx legend
Jason aka Foxy finally got their 15mins of fame
Very nice. Thanks and take care.
Thanks,. You take care too.
I love your videos but I would love to see you speed them up
Thanks for watching and your lovely comment. Did you know that RUclips gives you the ability to speed up videos? In the bottom left hand corner of the video you will see a cog. Click on that and then change the Playback Speed from Normal to 2 to see the video at double speed. If you want to slow something down you can use Playback Speed to play through the video in slow motion.
Nice video, unfortunately ruined by stupid music..
Thanks for liking the video. Wherever possible, I try to use the ambient sound, but, it simply wasn't possible for this video. If you don't like the music, just mute it. <3

Thanks for your comment. That's all the footage I have from this event, but, I'll try to get some more next time I see her out.
Sir what an enchanting sound of British leyland engine
Thank you!
A splendid video of one of these rare old 'buses. Would you have any objection if I were to use fragments of the audio from this and other of your videos as sound effects in a free, open-source non-commercial computer game called Simutrans under the Artistic Licence 1.0 (opensource.org/licenses/Artistic-1.0)? This clip is particularly useful, as it is a good, clean recording of a Leyland Comet pulling away. I should happily credit you, of course.
Thanks for asking. I'd be very happy and honoured for you to use the audio of the vintage vehicles in my videos in Simutrans in exchange for a credit. Can you please also include a link to Jurby Transport Museum and to Isle of Man Railways who own most of the vehicles. Thanks.
That is very kind, thank you. I will put the links into the "With special thanks to" section, although because the game uses a very old (circa 1990s) codebase, they will not be clickable, I am afraid. I will also put them in the credits text file. Thank you again.
That would be perfect. Thanks.
.
Thank you! :-)
The pendulum clock was invented by Christian Huygens in 1658. Are you sure this is actually the original clock?
The history of the clock is fascinating. The website mentioned in the description ( castlerushenclockconservation.blogspot.com/) will provide you with the information you are looking for in far more detail than I can put on RUclips.
As I understand it, many of the old verge escapements were refitted with pendulums, their being more accurate. They mention that the timber at the base of the clock has scarring from the foliot, so that makes sense. Good catch. Great answer from the video host. Thank you for your video. Educational!
Many older clocks were converted to use pendulums after they were invented, so it was probably added to the original mechanism at a later date.
this is great!!
