Osric's Bruk
Добавлен 16 июн 2013
I'm not an expert, I just get stuck in.
I've numbered everything to watch in order when I do multiple videos on one build.
I share a combination of blacksmithing, fabrication, and restoration stuff, with bonus clips and pics of my cats.
Most of what I do is for my own enjoyment, but from time to time, I also make things for other people. I've got a long list of things to make, so depending on mood, motivation, free time, etc, stuff can take several months to get done.

*disclaimer.
I have a juvenile sense of humour. This is my channel where I show what I've made to my friends. They know what I'm like. If you know me, then you know what I'm like. You can't get upset at banter and nob gags!
If you're easily offended, then you really need to give yourself a good kick up the spark plug and lighten up.

Discovery 1 locking wheel nut adaptor build
The thing with the discovery is that you have to remove the spare wheel to change the rear wiper. Another thing I discovered after buying it is that there's no locking wheel nut adaptor.
Haven't a clue how much it would cost to sort out so I'm building one from bits of stuff in the garage for the grand sum of nothing!

Land Rover Discovery 1 light bars, Part 1
Просмотров 45Месяц назад
I was hoping to start this job yesterday but I fancied a lazy day and couldn't be bothered to listen to a neighbour grumble about me parking in the back lane - legally and ensuring clear access for everyone! He's complaining about having to drive through some mud in front of my garage which isn't there (because I spent several hours clearing it down to the stone). He doesn't seem to have a prob...
Small Coppergate viking knife completed (with a bit of axe progress)
Просмотров 552Месяц назад
I finished this knife early on Friday morning to deliver to its new owner on Friday evening. I think the new owner was happy enough with it! 1095 steel, 57HRC, 20 degree bevel, 4" blade. Sharpened and finished using the Tormek and Robert Sorby sharpening systems. It comfortably cut through the goatskin leather used to make the sheath for it. The bigger Coppergate knife will be finished soon. An...

Busy weekend so just a quickie, I wanted to concentrate on what I was doing with minimal distractions so got three viking hewing axes done!
Making a Viking hewing axe part 2.
Просмотров 1472 месяца назад
I rushed parts of it, so I made mistakes! I was distracted by still having a sore face after having two back teeth out (cost a bloody fortune), and my new makers mark stamps arrived just before heading out. And after great expense and being messed around by the courier..... They aren't the diameter I ordered, so don't fit in my fly press. One of them was supposed to measure 25mm from top to bot...
Making a viking hewing axe Part 1
Просмотров 1262 месяца назад
Another job on my looooonnnng list of things to make. A viking hewing/shipwrights axe based on the one pictured in the Bayeux Tapestry. This is my mk1 with a right side single bevel edge and it's going to have an offset handle to save your knuckles when using it. I also prepped another two lengths of spring steel to make a left handed version, and another with a double bevel edge and no offset ...

Bit more done carrying on from yesterday. I did the other skyrim lamp I didn't get around to yesterday and mostly finished the coppergate knife. Still got final honing to do on the tormek, then it's done.
Making another (better) skyrim lamp

Busy day today doing a few different jobs. I discovered a timber supplier nearby, so I bought some ash and oak for some upcoming projects. I'd hoped to make two lamps today but ran out of time and energy. Got a few more lamps planned so I'll add the spare horn to the list of jobs to do.

I've had this axe head for years. I started the restoration over two years ago and got forgotten about. I finally got around to finishing it off, Because I don't have enough axes.....

A few more hooks and stuck under a kitten

I added a bit to the quench jug and made some more hooks for someone. I managed to mismeasure so made some more. I did eventually escape from under the kitten!

Clever me forgot to record some of the progress so it's a short one for today. Now it's done, it looks a bit like a coffee pot. I wouldn't drink what's going in it though! ☠️

Quench Tank build part 2, with extra bits which I finished off
I am currently working on the same model of flypress , which sadly has been out in the weather for a number of years. fortunately ive been able to free everything on it so far. the big issue is the seized lead screw. i have freed the gives to make sue they werent adding to the seizure, and used copious amounts of wd40 after wire brushing any threads that were accessable. ive tried a lump hammer first followed by a sledge hammer on the ends of the top arm, without going at it too severely, as I dont want to cause any further problems or breakages. Id be very grateful for any advice as to what the best way forward would be. many thanks.
All I can suggest is to persevere, avoid using a sledgehammer if you can. If you bend or crack anything important, then it's game over! If there's any stubborn seized parts left, I've found that rust remover helped to free things on other jobs. Good luck!
@@osricsbruk i think its going to be one of those 'little bit a day' jobs for as long as it takes. thanks for your helpful advice.
Good job mate 👍
A lovey surprise! It is beautiful thank you so much. I never thought i'd get exited over a knife XD
Excellent work mate 👏👏👏
Nice to see it complete.
@Broadleafe I probably could have grown the tree to make the wood for the handle in the time it took to get around to it!
So lovely to watch them being made!
Fancy watermelon cutter. I want one.
@jgrajeda8854 it's so blunt I think it would only squash a melon! Crush your watermelon See it splattered before you And hear der lamentations of the carpet cleaners!
How many anvils is that now?
That's one of the ones I bought a while back. I made another stand for the 30kg anvil and sold them together. There's a 40kg anvil I'll make a stand for that one and probably sell that as well. I'm keeping the 60kg anvil as my main work horse. So, at the minute I've got three decent sized anvils, one little one, and two home made viking anvils 👍
Oh no! That kitten has arrived at the shore and is ready to raid the village with their cuteness! 😱🥰❤️
She will conquer with her cuteness!

Major Bling Bling! Great work fella 👏👏👏
You have a vice vice for sure 😂
Got some restoration and build projects coming up with them.
Is this your vice?
@donnysouthwell8104 I'm going to attend vices anonymous meetings!
Nice one mate 👏👏👏
I made it to the dizzying heights of 50 subscribers. I'll have to do a giveaway like the proper youtubers!
👏👏👏👏👏
Quite pleased with how it turned out. Shield next!
Hi Osric Is there a market for fly presses as I have inherited 6 fly presses of different sizes, Denbigh and Norton 2A, 5 & 6 plus others. Two on their own stands. I also have two piller drills, belt driven hack saw and MEC 75. Circular metal saw on stand.
Hello, there is a market for them but as you'll know they're very heavy. It's always going to be a fairly limited market because someone has to be really keen to collect something that can weigh over 200kg! They pop up on Facebook marketplace fairly often.
🤤 Promo SM
You're letting all the goodness out.
Note the title … Not if but when !!!
If you want to go into the bush or outback: take a LR. Of you want to also get out of the outback, you take a LandCruiser!
Good one😀
@@osricsbrukit’s a fact !!!
So, Landcruisers are 'self-maintaining' and never blow a coolant hose that should have been checked / replaced before setting out?! 🤔
That sounds like the Christine car, or maybe even Borg technology!
@@trueaussie9230a well maintained vehicle should always get you home …. L/R … Not so much The worst 4by4 by far!!! I have owned them … This is first hand experience I now only own Toyota’s
That's an expensive kettle you've got there but forgive me for saying I won't be drinking your cocoa
My 50th video! I had no idea that I could ramble on to a phone for so long!
Crackin job mate. Should be proud of both of your blade babies.
The bloody antler moved so I've now got 1mm gap. I can fill it but it's still annoying

Killer Crocs!
Nice one mate
Being a timid girly I'd just use a knife 😂
You must embrace your inner valkyrie!
I don't need to embrace my inner valkyrie , I can get someone else to do that for me besides 8f you'd seen what I can do with a stick or my bare hands you'd know I don't need a chopper except for when it comes to wood .

New series woooooo!
This is going to be quite a big job so I may well have another one or two projects running alongside it. I did with the ha,mer build but didn't film them. I really need a better sound and camera set up. And get a video editing app And learn how to use it!
Bloody stupid camera didn't record the right way! At the end!
Great work fella
I got it to 57 Rockwell. That should excite the bushcrafters 😂

It wasn't that much of a close shave, more of a very light trim! I'll show you on the weekend
