I have both, I'd say the 2815 are better at color reproduction than the 2812B, but it's hard to notice. The WS2815 have a much higher constant current draw, which gives them a bit of an advantage. However the UCS1903 is a slight upgrade over the WS2815, because its current regulation is much better, so its colors are more accurate at lower brightness levels than the WS2815. That said, the GS8208 is better than both of them at color reproduction, and it's easily noticeable on certain colors like orange and purple, because the GS8208 has 12-bit Gamma Color Correction, which the other variants do not have, and it does seem to make a difference. GS8208 > UCS1903 > WS2815 > WS2812B

@@imdbtruth thanks for that info. I had a tough time trying to find a better strip through looking on online forums. There doesn't seem to be enough info on stripe outside of the usual sk6812 ws2812 and ws2815.

@@jcreedy20 No problem. I do just want to clarify that I probably should've called UCS1903 by the name BTF2815. The BTF2815 is based on the UCS1903 architecture, and the WS2811 is even cloned from the UCS1903 chip, but UCS1903 is the name of the older and easier to find version, while BTF2815 is basically the updated version of UCS1903 with the main difference being Breakpoint Continuous Transmission technology. In short WS2815 is the updated version of WS2811, and BTF2815 is the updated version of UCS1903, however both are very similar. One other thing to look out for... The older versions of GS8208 have a built-in test pattern, and they will run through a whole bunch of different animations without any Data from a controller, just positive and ground. The test pattern can be beneficial in certain applications, but a nightmare in others... Anyway, new versions of GS8208 have done away with the test patterns. So anybody looking into buying GS8208, confirm with the seller whether or not their version still contains the auto test pattern.

@@imdbtruth cool. Good to hear from someone knowledgeable in this niche area. Like I said information is hard to find on these led strips. Most people just look on ebay and go "ooooohhh aaahhh" at the generic rgb lights they sell but don't realise just how much better these other light strips can be.

Did you find a controller that works with SK6812-RGBW? I just got some other type controller and it doesnt work. But WS2812B works on it...

@@teoyota Not to my expectations. The SP110E has some basic functionality, but not much control over the white channel (as far as I tested with the software at the time-- we're talking REALLY limited). I've used an ESP32 microcontroller with the neopixel library. Not exactly "off-the-shelf" but gives you the most flexibility (if you can program and assemble some relatively simple circuitry). There are probably some more expensive commercial controllers out there, but I wasn't going to go that route.

@@stephens1393 I just ordered a sp103e. I saw a video on YT that it worked, hope it does. I need something with a remote and basic colors, I dont want apps.

@@teoyota I think I did the same-- I have two in my Amazon history ("Alarmpore Wireless Mini RF LED Remote Controller"), but don't know what I did with them. One was fried (didn't work at all) and the other I'm pretty sure didn't do the job w/the SK6812 RGBW. I also tried a SP601E (probably based on incorrect Amazon or YT info)-- also did not work w/RGBW. In the case of my orders, I think both have been updated to say they don't work w/the RGBW. Maybe your particular item will have better or updated software or firmware though.

@@stephens1393 did you go in their settings to choose the type of led? Even the sp101 I bought has settings, but didn't work with rgbw, just rgb.

@@lFeer123 yes I changed cable to usb don't use regular strip adapter, you need more power to turn on strip :)
