I used a brush in Procreate called syrup 😊

I use a Procreate ink brush called syrup for black and white images - maps and art alike. I find it’s best at accurately duplicating the look and feel of an actual ink pen. This image was done a few years ago and not my best - over time I like to think I’ve gotten better with using the sensitivity of the Apple Pencil for pen work. 😊

This particular map took me about 25 minutes in real time to draw. The more complicated the map, the longer it takes. A recent commission took me 3 days, including digital coloring. 😊

Unfortunately, I can’t remember the name of the music piece - sorry! The paper is from a 95 cent student gridded paper book. I just rip the pages out and draw on it. The paper isn’t great quality, but it’s a convenient size and really cheap 😊

I still want to give it a go. You can’t really tell for sure how much you’re gonna like it until you run it, and I like the system (except for having to know every spell off by heart lol) 😊👍

@@LaidbackDMlike with any game there’s a learning curve. I find the d100 system intuitive and it plays well and brings excitement to the table through its gameplay and game world. Knowing the npc magic takes a little more prep for the GM for sure, but its worth it. I guess it’s just like familiarising your self with extra monster abilities in D&D. I found after a few games the system flows ok at the table, it certainly enables a more dramatic and exciting gaming experience then many other RPGs imo 😊

Firstly, have you actually played or ran this ? Secondly, it's really not; I mean it's D100%; yes there are moving parts but I can testify it plays pretty smooth. The only really fiddly bit is the attack / parry / dodge resolution in combat; I still have to consult the table! The stand out for me is the Runes & Passions ; so much more elegant & believable than Alignment

@@princealiaps3751 Thing is, combat is pretty central to the game - so having it driven by something that is ‘really fiddly’ can be an issue. The general reputation of Runequest, over the years, is the combat (and game system, generally) takes some mastery to fully appreciate, although the intensity of it gives a unique experience. However, it can get too unwieldy when there are too many participants. A notable cousin of Runequest is Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay - which is very similar and familiar but a lot more streamlined in a number of little but significant ways.

@@rory7590Yes I agree that too many participants can grind a session to a crawl; my group is 4 players + gm & after thirty years of gaming I can say 4 players max works. Combat results are the only aspect of RQ I need to reference; as a big WHFRP {but not the clusterfuck 4th edition} fan & the Fantasy Flight 40K lines, I agree the D100% mechanics in that game are a breeze. Also in my experience combat is the most fiddly & time eating part of a session; unless of course, it's 'you get hit & die'; I don't care which RPG you're playing { except maybe Blades ITD} combat is a fucking time thief. The setting of RQ more than makes up for any shortfalls IMO.

When compared to simpler Ttrpgs 😊

Hi! Thanks for subscribing! When I draw I just draw anything - I don’t normally have a fixed idea of what I want. I just let the magic happen. I draw digitally using an Apple Pencil on IPad Pro in procreate, and I also draw with sharpies (think and thin nibs) on paper. 😊

Further to my previous reply, no custom pens. Hatching is done by hand - ever single stroke is me 😊

I apply the color in a different program (photoshop) which I didn’t screen capture at the time - sorry

Thanks! 😊 I do sometimes get a bit lazy and convert some of my b&w maps to old school-style using a cross hatched backdrop (admittedly, I did hand draw cross hatch over a whole page to make the backdrop lol). But I still prefer to cross hatch my OSR maps by hand when I have a bit more time 😊
