Very cool! Well done
this is soooo helpful thank you!
Mine has little dots of light, rather than even lighting around the piece. Is there a way to get that effect?
Hi! Do you think it's safe to install an LED strip light inside a frame. I'm doing this shower curtain wall art but I wanna give it an effect that it's glowing from the inside? Thanks for answering.
How did you mount it on the wall ? The paths from the led strips is touching the wall..
How'd you hide the wires? Or is there an outlet behind the painting or behind the wall?
Gorgeous lighting!! Omg! Im saving this video for inspiration!!
Where do you hide the driver plug thing and its cord? Seems huge to be hanging from the back of the portrait?
Thank you but how do you plug it in or is it battery?
I would like to see how you have it on the back right before hanging to see how you have it all secured. Is it battery or a wall plug for it behind the art or picture??
Mee too
Samee
Nice. Do more videos, please! Came for the backlit art vid and stayed for more. Do you have a formula for preventing a ceiling fan "chopping" light with flush mount leds like you have in this video? Would LOVE a video on how to lengthen a chandelier for very high ceilings. More gorgeous electrical for finishing/remodeling, please!!!
What did you hang the artwork from? The plastic strip or something else on the back of the frame?
I love this! How old you use this to illuminate a cavas print as if it were a window? I want to l8ght up a beach scene or an Ombre print in a basement office with no windows. Thanks !
Tx for this video! 😄
Any suggestions on backlit unframed items on the wall? I have a baseball bat wrapped with barbed wire. I'd like to have glowing on the wall.
you must have had an outlet behind the art? Have you ever done the same with a battery operated set up?
Are there any rechargeable led strip lights that can be used instead of plug in
HI ! Loved this! Is there any video that shows installing the light into the recessed wall outlet?
The power must be coming from somewhere does the picture itself cover the outlet? My problem is there is no where got me to be getting power. I live in a condominium I haven’t asked but my guess is management would would frown on me making a hole in wall and altering electrical. I have no experience with electricity I would need to hire an electrician to do the work. But in my favor the opposite side of wall is my bedroom closet with a light switch directly on the opposite side of wall. Do you have any suggestions or alternative ideas for providing power for lighting?
Hey John. Unfortunately if you are limited by your lease terms/management there are LED tape light options that are battery powered and controllable. Batteries can be cumbersome to maintain and troubleshoot but if you have a few spares on hand, you should be able to do everything I did installation-wise but with a battery powered LED product.
@@seandee9480 That’s what I’ve decided to try a battery powered strip light. The piece of art has a diameter of 84” that would require….what 80” of LED tape. I have no experience doing this, as for the power source. If I get a choice I’d want something with the lowest profile making the picture to lay close to wall 9v in parallel with this type of load how many batt’s would I need to keep it well lit for 5 hrs. What’s your guess on how long the batteries would last. This is getting expensive as you know 9v batteries are not cheap. You’re probably getting sick of my questions so I’ll experiment and find out. THANKS FOR THE INSPIRATION!
I am going to try this ruclips.net/video/l6v5lrP0H6Q/видео.html
So this video is pointless if you don't have a power outlet behind the artwork
I am going to try this ruclips.net/video/l6v5lrP0H6Q/видео.html
That was my BIG question too where do you get power from please answer
the outlet is behind the art piece
@@jahdestamuzik9145 Ya I wanted to do something like this, then I looked into the cost of a electrician I’d have to be hiring. I live in a 17 story condominium if I did anything with the electrical without hiring a bonded & insured electrician and something went south the liability Issues could bank rupt me. There is an electrical outlet on the other side of wall but I don’t want to risk it. I’m gonna have to be satisfied the way it is.

Fantastic video. Thank you. Could I do this on a plexiglass panel that I have resin painted? I’d like the light to shine through my resin art..if that makes sense.
Thanks lowfat! You can backlight plexiglass, however I would recommend pouring your resin into a form and backlight the resin. Plexi + resin is going to kill your lumen output and the light may not diffuse through both the plexi AND resin. I bet it would still look pretty cool though.
Everyone wants NO PLUG. Why can't anyone invent this so it does not look messy or need drilling?
Drawn, there are battery options available! you are limiting to lumen output and adding maintenance with battery changes but it is possible!
It’s up to the individuals using repeated failures with some success. This may sound corny, nothing is easy successful people doubt get things handed to them. Have you heard the story of Elon Musk he didn’t get lucky he was inspired to do what he’s done. Just like the other people that have become successful.
I’m positive you’re not the only one who wants the NO PLUG option, I want it I’m still trying to imagine how many batteries I can go through before I abandon this idea or find another better way to power this. But I’m still gonna try battery power.

How did close/ Connect the overlap.
Thanks Dominick, I just bought cuttable tape and I offset the overlap so it was the beginning run and the end run side-by-side in the channel. if that makes sense.
Hello nice job, I was wondering if there’s a way to hide the cords in the back of the frame, from showing when you hang them up if the plug-in is say a few feet away? I have tried the LED lite framed posters but when I hang it up the cords from the LED lights hang out from the bottom I would like for them not to show. Thank You Andre’
Hi andre, if the plug is a few feet away the only way to hide the wiring from the transformer is to fish it through the drywall. However you would only be able to fish the wire vertically doe to the in-wall framing. you could fish the wire straight down and run an extension cord along the floor if that hides it better.
Nice, but should have used colored leds,
Thanks Jeremy, believe me if it wasn't a gift for my wife I would have! I have some RGBW backlighting a sign at my office. maybe I should make another video..
Is it possible to just line the inside of a wood frame with the strip light only? I’m using battery strip
you could, I chose to use the plastic channel to create the even gap between the wall and the fixture that the light can shine outward. if you just go straight to the frame it would still reflect out, but wont throw the light as far and you would need a way to get that even wall gap
came here for the light installation, might come back for the djent
HAHAHA yes sir!
Great video, thanks for the follow up reply’s as well.
thanks jessie. I haven't replied to anything in a year lol sorry!
probably u already answered thia from other viewers, do u have a video for a regular frame, I have 3 frames that dont have any empty gap space on the back...will putting led tape lights be bad if touching straight to wall?
Thanks Joel. The purpose of the plastic u channel is to hold the frame off the wall to create that even gap between the wall and the fixture
Captain!!
Aye aye Matey!
Can you please provide more details on the led channel? Does it have to be transparent?
Does not have to be transparent Channel, I just chose it because it was cheap and I have better luck with double stick tape on the plastic vs an aluminum or other metal channel
This video was very helpful and that piece is cool. Would you be able to provide a link for where I can buy the LED light kit?
Thanks Mike. TBH I just typed 'tuneable white LED tape light' into amazon and bought the first thing that came up. I just made sure that the tape was long enough to make it around the entire frame.
Very nice..
Thank you! Hope it helps!
Please drop link for the led strips
Sorry Boni its been so long since I posted this video. I literally just typed in 'tunable white led tape light kit' into amazon and bought the first product that was long enough for my frame
Where’s the plug wire ??
There is an electrical outlet on the wall behind the art piece. The original plan was a flex space above the desk for a TV, art piece or projector screen.
Helpful except 2 things. 1) You didn't show that you need a recessed outlet constructed behind that art. That's a big deal for a regular home DIY person. 2) That heavy metal is ridiculous in comparison to your voice levels, bud.
Metal is supposed to be LOUD!
How do you power the LED strip without needing to plug it into a wall outlet? I didn’t see a cord hanging down so I just assumed. Also, it looks great!
Yes same question? Where did you plug in?
Thanks Bryan! Sorry for the delayed response... There is an electrical outlet on the wall behind the art piece. The original plan was a flex space above the desk for a TV, art piece or projector screen.
Great vid. Stunning work
I made them that run out batteries
@@aj321000 the battery type tho? And how long do they last ?
How you fixed on the wall?
I set 2 anchors using a 4' level with screws and hung the piece from those.
