I think the batteries in the game are great. I just don't like to build platform towers to make them good lol. Need a map with big cliffs
i tried the same after seeing u in another vid!! i did a big rectangle just for easier accest and then small "boxes" for each food!! good job btw🤩
I always like making squares with the food as Folktails because of the bee hives
would have been nice to see you actually deal with the badtide instead of trying to simply survive it. You were close when you put up triple floodgates at the source. Instead, should have levee'd off a few tiles south of the bottom of the waterfall from the right to the left and pushed the badtide off the left. Have some floodgates along the way to allow good water into your settlement. Should have done this straight away. You've done absolutely nothing to help with the badtide....I'm not surprised you've failed twice at it. Will there be a third? (Yep. Sure was a 3rd one.)
@@teembo I did a bunch of diverting the bad water off the map in the experimental. Didn’t feel like doing the repeat of the same thing. Having better stockpiles of stuff would have been a good idea. Fortunately I didn’t mess up anything else that i remember. I really wanted to deal with the bad water this time by using the decontamination barriers that were added

Hi, i have beat all the vanish maps since theUpdate 5 ..that means divert the first badtide after the 6 cycle.. Also they remake the maps to make that possible AND that is possible in this map , but , sincerely my trouble was more with droughts in this map because you have to make the choice : fight droughts or badtide...
Can you please stop pausing the game, I’ll see this series through but I am finding it hard watching, might not need to time lapse either
Also, tick the foresters to replant dead trees
If you built your end wall near the water sources, you could divert the bad water… surprised you didn’t think of it
Also suggest have 1-2 farmers in each farm house as they do spend a lot of time waiting and you don’t have the spare beavers when you reverted
You seem to talk yourself out of things, eg the haulers, you’ve talked about them many times but you had the build paused, it speeds everything up so much

Why not use dirt instead of wood since you have so much of dirt.
I like the way leeves look and lines of dirt don’t look great, I’ll suffer lol
"I wish you could do automatic floodgates." There's a Mod for that... Sudden drop in extract? Using lots of dynamite? Big battery farm is a long term project. A half million power at a time should do, take your time.
I haven’t used mods since it not integrated into the game through a mod portal. Just kind of small hassle I haven’t wanted to bother with. The 3 lines of batteries I have now is 3 million hph so might not need any ever again lol
@@EnceladusProto Haven't used Any myself yet. Still want to play the base game, but soon. More batteries? Don't think so. You built your endgame power reserve already. Should have done it a few stages was what I meant, lets you do others things you need Now. But it's built and you won't run out of power again so...
Why not chuck a water wheel on the bad tides River on your island just to the right of your start base. You can have small industry on the contaminated grass.
I have a plan to put water wheels on the bad water outlets. Just takes a while to build lol

A tower for power yes, but then you can do 2 rows of platforms leading away with gravity batteries on both sides. Yes, it is like building a skyscraper, and ruins the view. Build at the edge of the map?
The power bank will be at the edge of the map on a hill. Got a plan for it

Yes, you can force ruble around. remove the floodgates and then box it in with levees (anything solid, 1x1 is Mostly better) so they can't go that way. Once there is only 1 path out, build a levee on top of the rubble and it will shove it over into the empty space. Delete the levees after since you don't really want to build them. You can shove rubble Across The Map this way, to a location convenient to pickup for beavers, and not in your way, or where they could get stuck when collecting. My best suggestion for badtides is a bypass built around the water source, using triple floodgates to let water out, with another set that leads OFF of the map. That looks to be harder here where the water source is so large, since you need almost as much outlet floodgates around the back as the front to prevent flooding. Perhaps some dynamite landscaping? Also use badwater for your water power during a drought. 😁 Yes, it's later game because you NEED the Badwater Dome, but should be planned for.
I did a bypass of bad water off the map on experimental but that feels cheap so I’m going to build with the idea of letting it go through the map
You plant dandelions (& berries) from the trees menu, so they must be in range of a Forester. Antidote is a Fluid by the way, and contaminated beavers need 10 doses each (1/day maybe?) before they're better. I put several small tanks around the areas prone to bad water, but this map is different in that way. Good Luck. Although I suspect you have found out this by now, it's also helpful to the next viewer.
Interesting, I never knew how much they needed to get better as in experimental I used the iron teeth. I’m going to avoid bad water interaction by building over them or sealing them. I always forget berries and dandelions are “tree” related plants in the menu
Most common workplace injury seems to be in a power-wheel. The paper is going into your (large) windmills.
That’s kind of interesting that power wheels cause workplace injuries, makes sense though
There is still a need for folktails to collect berries. Antidote = 1 paper, 2 dandelions, 2 berries. Found under wellbeing Herbalist building.

As much as power is important, I think preparing for both badtide and drought should be top priority alongside food and water supply. Maybe you should have started researching floodgates and levies to direct the badtide from cycle 1. Either way, you still did great, well done. I would have panic and restart again 😅
Ambition is the real killer for me. Gonna be more careful going forward. Should have less setbacks lol

I think that mega project is holding you back, by eating up too much of your limited wood. You can get a lot of power, really quickly, simply by building the water wheels next to the path you made to reach the metal. It's got a high flow rate, due to the badwater sources in addition to the rest of the water coming through. Make a one-block high floodgates that can cut off the flow of water so your farms can survive badtides. Build them from the nearest farm island to the nearby cliffs. Dam up (not levee) the three closest waterfalls going down past your town hall, so you can hold water in for your crops. Pause some of your houses to lower your population, so food demands aren't so high. This is a HARD map, so don't feel bad about it. Treat it like a puzzle. If you feel like you need to restart, that's fine. It took me 3-4 times to get it right.
If I was smart I would have stockpiled a bunch of food/water so it wouldn’t be that big of a problem. Which is what I’m gonna do now. I always have a tendency to slack on that stuff lol
Oof. Yep, if you do this map again, prioritize protection against Badtide, and keep your population low until you are able to actually create a huge standing reservoir. In the meantime, you'll have to store large amounts of water in storage tanks instead. Islands is a slow-going map, focused on the small victories, rather than massive projects.
I was definitely used to the older version of the map. Never had this kind of problem before lol. The update does shake up the game with the map rework
Looks like you're getting too ambitious, too quick. It's better to figure out the most cost-effective way to buy your little village more time, rather than immediately jumping for the permanent solution that you simply cannot afford yet. It's alright, I failed twice before getting the map down.

It's gonna be interesting to see how someone else handles the same map. In the end, I had a massive reservoir fed by mechanical pumps north of town hall, tons of floodgates to control the flow of water and badwater, and finally a massive dam at the source that can redirect the flow of badwater entirely, so I didn't have to wait for it to get washed away before opening the gates anymore. Now the old floodgates serve as emergency backups in case I forget to shut the primary dam. I've found that the best way to tackle this map is to keep your population low, and have plenty of storage tanks until you can get better control over the flow of water. Focus on protecting your crops from badwater, rather than containing water at first. Use a water dump, and keep badwater out of your tiny lake at all costs.
I always find it interesting to see what other people will do with the same map. I’ve done the “just flow it off the map”. Might try something different this time
fyi, the lumberjacks and the farmers do not need paths to get to all their harvesting area.
