Curtiss JN-4 “Jenny” in flight with Sullivan smoke system
Просмотров 7952 года назад
Distributed by Maxford USA The Curtiss JN-4 "Jenny" was one of a series of "JN" biplanes built by the Curtiss Aeroplane Company of Hammondsport, New York, later the Curtiss Aeroplane and Motor Company. Although the Curtiss JN series was originally produced as a training aircraft for the U.S. Army, the "Jenny" (the common nickname derived from "JN-4", with an open-topped four appearing as a Y) c...

    Yeh there is much to be said for high performance flying and wing loading for me a cub style aircraft that is balsa should be flown in scale type manner- unless u have reinforced the spare and wing ribs to do high performance maneuvers just my opinion

    318 there is a single flutter of starboard wing, then it shattered. the flutter itself should not have happened if there was not already some 'invisible' weakness/damage in that wing half.

    Guys this needs to be reported to Horizon on a serious note.... there seems to be manufacturing flaw in the wing. This plane is supposedly designed to handle upto 200CC engines..... Horizon shud replace your plane ....

    The NTSB has determined that running up the engine in pre-flight placing excessive point loads on each side of each wing, instead of supporting the tail or the fuselage has caused the fatal wing spar to explode under G load. I bet after reading this comment you’ll never run up another RC Aircraft again like that.

    I have seen plenty of RC pilots at the local field who insist on flying scale planes in a fantastic way (fantastic as in fantasy, away from reality). One guy flies a Freewing B2 bomber as if it were a pattern plane (loops, split Ss, Cuban 8s, inverted flight). Another flies a small T-28 as if it were a 3D plane). I see large warbirds that attempt to take off as if they were IMAC planes. Others bank and yank scale EDF jets as if they were hot racing planes, to the point that they flex the wings way too upward, as if about to break. I don’t know what’s the point of flying planes in a way they were never designed for. This is asking for an eventual structural failure and a crash. Just today there was a pilot who had not flown an EDF jet before and even with assistance, he kept making maneuvers that were over stressing the wing-the wings were flexing upward a lot with the high speed, tight turns he was doing. Pure bank and yank, with no finesse or smoothness.

    Why does anyone think they can fly an airplane that is not designed for stunts in real life? Would you fly it that way if you were in it? Buy a pitts special or an equivalent. I'd used to spend months building RC balsa models and to crash them devastated me. Now people don't G A Sh-t. Sorry dude you got what you deserved flying like that a wrecked plane.

    I'm not sure who hanger 9 has building their planes but if you have a chance to see their uncovered airframe the first thing you notice is how conservative they are with glue and basswood. You can't trust the super glue hinges either, but that's a problem that might not show up for a few years. All of the ARTF/RTF stuff I've bought is the same way. Rebuild, reinforce, recover, and refly bud!

    • @drukawski
      @drukawski Год назад

      Watched at 1080p, 50% speed. You can see the wingtip just inside the leading edge light flex then sheer off around the wing strut. It's really hard to tell, but did you have the flaps going as well? Maybe as flaperons/flap-aileron mix? If you are looking for aerobatic planes that size look at the Legacy Aviation line from ExtremeFlightRC. Pretty popular at my field but I can't afford to fly/lose anything bigger than an 80" seagull models.

    That is a damn shame and should never have happened! Why ARF manufacturers can't make a strong plane is beyond me. I'm really sorry for you. I seldom purchase an already built plane unless I know who built it. I prefer to build my own,
