DUKES LONDON 110th Year Anniversary (Official Hotel Video)
I wish i was there now!!
Why dont you use Lillet Blanc? Wouldnt that make it more authentic?
Only Gin is used in a real Martini......
Love it all ❤ always has been mixing it gunpowder, grey goose, & lillet blanc shaken with ice! But Mane, I tried it your way & 😲 marvelous difference! Old ways work & still work,, I want to keep the legacy. 🙏❤️
Cool!
Very cool man...
It´s too hard on the palate with no water dilution from the ice. N°3 London Dry Gin is ALC 46% Vol. I prefer the classic method having the Gin and Vermouth stirred with ice in a mixing glass.
Excellent recipe. I see now what you mean by letting the flavors develop. Cheers!
This is really extra dry. I don't get it: vermouth adds so much to the cocktail! The typical 3 parts to 1 is plenty dry enough.
gimmicky. Just give me an ordinary dry martini, made with a decent gin, with 3 olives.
I had that thought in mind actually. For me it's a tablespoon of Lillet Blanc, 1/3 Stoly, 2/3 London Dry, a drop of Angostura, a teaspoon of olive brine and 3 olives - ice cold. Sublime!
@@hatch113 I'll try it. My normal goto is pour in some cold vermouth into the shaker, pour it out so that what remains is just what clings to the ice and the sides, add cold LD gin shake quickly, serve with 3 olives (once in a while a lemon twist when the mood strikes).
Pretty close to what I do. Would love to see a comparison between Dukes Martini and Musso and Frank (out here on the left coast).
Dukes is so great, but I am sure, that his Martini should be served only at Dukes bar, because if we try to make everything at home, then there is no reason to go out and we don´t experience this special moment, so only at Dukes bar!!! Thank you
$500 a night for a "cheap" room AND a bonus 50% tax/fees. WOW. So you're really looking at $750/night minimum.`
I Made This Drink Verbatim Per. Mr. Palazzi “” YUK “” Now I Made Mine Tanqueray 3 Jiggers Martini & Rossi Dry Vermouth and Orange Bitters In a Stainless Steel Shaker with a Twist of Lemon Peel Stirred Strain and Poured into a Chrystal Martini 🍸 Glass Yummy Yum Yum Yummy 😋
Yeah... His recipe is a little bit shit
Зачем так мучаться чтобы выпить чистого джина?
This is such a delight! Thank you, I wished I had seen this video during the pandemic thanks for the tutorial ❤
Not that I want to question the man regarded as one of the greatest martini-makers in the world, but...no orange bitters? Is it still a Martini without orange bitters?
YES obviously. A dry martini, is literally vermouth/gin/lemon twist/or olive. Simple as THAT. End-of-short-story!😂
Nice
Thank you Alessandro for showing us the way to create a proper English Vesper martini. Cheers!
Thank you Mr Palazzi, your instructions are very greatly appreciated.
Signor Palazzi, volevo salutarla e ringraziarla per i bei momenti che mi ha fatto passare nel suo locale durante i miei molti anni vissuti a Londra. Sono tornato in Italia ma il Duke's bar e' sempre nel mio cuore 🙂
Well done, and great explanations of the ingredients and why you are using them.
Please boycott this hotel: it is owned by a company from Dubai, a country run by a dictatorship. Apart from all the classics (no freedom of speech, no free press, tortures…), LGBT people are persecuted and women are second class citizens. If all that is not enough this dictatorial family keeps themselves busy bombing Yemen, together with Saudi Arabia (another country where you do not want to live if you happen to have a vagina or want some free speech), in a war that has already killed 200.000 people (not bad, eh?; it is amazing what those USA missiles and jets can do). Give your money to someone else. Javi Caballero (Spain).
Three Key is an outstanding gin.
What is contained in the Day Books
I tried making this according to the book's recipe. I used Bombay Sapphire. Chopin Potato Vodka. Lillet. And a lemon peel. However, I failed to zest the lemon and did not use Angostura. I did, however, ensure my glass was frozen and used a mixing container filled with ice. I stirred instead of shake because I read that shaking causes cloudiness. Well, it's nice to experiment.
I would think the sapphire would impart a strong taste and overpower the martini.
Pretty much neat gin is vile and it is not a cocktail. A cocktail is a balanced mix of drinks. Enjoy your neat gin just dint call it a Martini. Try a Reverse Martini, now THAT is delicious. James Bond doesn't exist so that extra dry martini shouldn't either.
Missing ingredient: Water (melted ice).
120 ml of 47% abv gin, it will be warm by the time most normal people finish the drink.
That's why they only serve two of these to ANYONE at Dukes, too many of these and it would end up like a Wetherspoons in Croydon in there!😲😲🤣🤣
@@ShaunStone-o5u not my point but anyways
After 3 martinis you can speak with God. After 6 martinis you are God...
After 6 Martinis you're probably in the Magistrates Court in the morning, up on a D&D charge!
Sorry, vermouth is an integral part and flavor of a martini. Swirling it in the glass and pouring it out only leaves you with straight up gin. It's not a martini.
Correct! Also you should not freeze a fine gin which interferes with the finely crafted botanicals ! It's NOT vodka !
I agree, Tom. The charm of a Martini is the interplay between the "earthy" vermouth and the "steely" gin- without enough vermouth, you miss the point of the cocktail entirely. Also, Martini's are stirred and not shaken (sorry, Mr. Fleming). The slivers of ice from shaking the cocktail, in my option, send this classic to a watery grave. Please use a good vermouth and keep it in the fridge, as it's a fortified wine.
You are so simple.
No, the martini recipe is. A monkey could make that.
@@josephmchugh4719 What ratio of gin to vermouth do you like and would suggest? Also, which brands? I am trying to find one I love and I have tried many combos but I think there is always room to experiment :)
Thank you…
Espetacular . Quanta elegância e preciosidade no seu modo de preparar um drink. Uma aula de glamour. Estou encantada .
Elegant wristwatch for an elegant man. 👌🏻 Beautiful presentation, would love to partake. Had to search having referenced in Matt Hranek’s ‘Martini’ book.
Had a very pleasurable evening l
evening sampling your cocktails following my son receiving his gold Duke of Edinburgh award.
An Amazing place!
Awesome
Alessandro Palazzi is the master cocktail maker, together with his small team dispense without doubt the finest Vesper Martini cocktails in London. This and Dukes Bar historical links to Ian Fleming and many other fine people including Royalty make a visit a must do. I visited this weekend (4/9/2021) with my wife and two friends Simon and Jo (that day married!) and had an wonderful memorable time. We will be returning! Perhaps don’t tell everyone?! Thank you Alessandro and team.
Does anyone know the make/brand of the lemon peeler Alessandro is using?
Its gin only because the vermut he traw it away it just has it aroma
Spectacular Martini - The Vesper Martini is a treat!!
Love the "virtual fix" - so helpful in this time of lockdowns everywhere. Even in my Vancouver we have restrictions. Fabulous Martini Alessandro!! I love No 3 Gin. Is this vermouth available to purchase?
“Martinis are like women’s breasts.....one is not enough and three are too many!”
Procured some Sacred amber vermouth precisely to make one of these. Lovely!
Gorgeous beverage as always, and great to get a virtual Dukes fix during this crazy time!
