hi wayne not seen you post anything for a long time and was looking to get some advise from you, i am coming out to prassat surin to see my partner in september and was wondering what your thoughts are on buying a atv quad bike , for me and possibly her to use for transport to and from her house to her farm/ rice fields, on dirt tracks, i have little experience on bikes and thought a atv quad might be better, especialy in wet season now, will probably try and buy a used or cheap new bike but wondered if you thought this was a viable option for a novice rider, hope you are well and thank you for your time cheers.

Hi Phil, it would be a bit tricky to find a used quad, especially one that's been well maintained. A decent new one would cost around 80,000 baht. Another option would be to get a second hand bike such as a Honda Wave with a sidecar attached. They are practical and readily available for around the 20-25,000 mark for a decent one. Get in touch if you have any further thoughts. Cheers,🍻🍻🍻

Only just discovered this video. Knew about him for a long time, being a fan of Donovan since the mid 1960s. Have been reading Gypsy Dave's autobiography "Knights of the Road" and it seems he lived a full life and did more than most of us will ever do. R.I.P. Gypsy Dave.

Fantastic that they reconnected so many years later. I recommend Gypsy Dave's autobiography "Knights of the Road" which tells the story of their humble beginnings and collaboration during Donovan's rise to fame. RIP Gypsy Dave.

mixed couples should always learn eachothers languages not just one of thos languages , thats my opinion ... those relationships in this documentary seem like the those men and women use eachother for their own goals. yes its possible that some of those couples really love eachother from day one but it seems like most of them have really neutral feelings toward eachother at the beginning and some of those seem to grow fond of eachother over time and some keep their feelings neutral but thats just my first impression so far after 30 minutes ... atleast those realationships are not forced and i guess its a way to avoid prostetution for some of those women ...

“But they won’t marry before they have been with you” …. That in itself leaves so many questions unanswered. Some religions protect a woman’s rights for example “no you will not just have your way with me then leave me high and dry” as opposed to “I’m a woman who can do what she wants and i will not commit to anybody or anything unless there’s ‘dating’ first”. Either way we can all agree that some abrahamic religions have protected women’s chastity for centuries now and praise be to God there are millions of fathers out there who know their daughters have not been fed lies and ravaged by the strangest creature on this planet: man.

There are many reasons why these people in Thailand remain poor. It's a society issue which includes the perceived responsibility of daughters to support everyone in their family. To send money home, seens to be the number one priorty and it's so in most Asian cultures. Then of course the way things are in small towns and villages which is bordering on collectivism and control. Especially to do with religion which also sucks a lot of wealth out of the people. There's a lot more as well of course. You may think I'm wrong but my experiences of 'living Thailand' for over half my life is good enough for me. There needs to be a mindset shift to that individual freedom and liberty and that we are individuals and that should come first. As in the West.

That isn't my job and they are not my family" or I walk away and she can hope she may meet another guy, but dealt it very much.

The funny part is it’s so obviously transactional- she’s using him and he seems to think that she truly loves him. I’m a straight male, and not sure who’s more delusional, the men marrying these whores or the whores themselves. I met a Thai woman in the city where I work.. I walked into a Denny’s restaurant to get some breakfast.. she and 3 other Thai girls were ahead of me.. and waitress thought we were all together.. and made a gesture..which allowed or prompted communication between us all.. I liked one quite a bit..I ended up getting her phone number… That was back in 2011.. we have been married 11 years now.. I am 21 years older than her.. it’s not an issue.. it seems it is for a certain type of other person mostly American women who think they know something about our relationship based on their preconceived notion’s.. we get along fantastic. Rarely disagree on anything..laugh every day, and have a great sex life..the only problems are with American women who “disapprove “ because? They think they know… and when we go out, other younger men are always looking and thinking they have a shot.. but she recognizes that when it happens and immediately comes and clings to my arm, which ends up shutting people down…. She’s a great wife …

I watch RUclips channels that just show a foreigner's point of view. Most of them put down all the women that work as bar girls, massage girls or independents. These women are depicted as narcissists, bipolar, or moody and incapable of forming any kind of loving relationship. The RUclips channels serve to warn foreign men to not seek love in Thailand, especially in the tourist cities. Foreign tourists are called falangs, and are repeatedly warned of being scammed (rinsed is the term used). These RUclips channels advise foreign men to "sample the goods" but never fall for these women and move on. This documentary puts a human face on these women and shows all of the complexity and the heartbreaking decisions that are made to survive. This documentary puts to words what I generally feel when watching all of these RUclips channels. It has made me realize to stay the hell away from 3rd world countries and appreciate the life I have in the SF/Bay Area where I can experience many cultures of the world and eat world-class cuisine and live a decent life.

This is so poignantly and beautifully filmed and produced. Its also completely heartbreaking . A lot of the sadness , loneliness and deep inequity is unspoken and all the more powerful for that. Perhaps my familiarity with Asia and Thailand allows me to see a bit further past the natural beauty ( geographical and human ) It can look idyllic..... ..but its hard even for the traveller to really know how thai society functions .
