how about u make a discord server it will be fun
It already exists, I'll add it to the channel description - discord.gg/Qju5SSBN
Where did you learn the theory for these lines. I've been struggling against this opening for a while now, I usually play the advance followed by Nd2 or the exchange. But this line you played feels like a cheat code thanks for the vid bro
A mix of master games and analysing with the lichess engine. I might do a full opening video on it at some point to cover all lines!
@@MagnusChessUK sounds good brother looking forward to it.

So nice ❤❤
Magnus Also play me Ashuthon im 2000 so it can be like 2000 vs 2400 differences topic
I’ll add you to the randomiser, will be streaming the selection and playing viewers in blitz later today. If you win I’ll send a message on chess.com and we can organise a time to play.
There is my chess competition after 1 month can you share me tips how can I play better my online rating is 1200 elo
If you want to get a rapid game against me where I analyse in detail what happened then leave a comment with your username on the video “making chess simple” for a chance to get the game. Other than that tactics and puzzles are key, learn one opening for black against e4 and d4 and stick with them, and maybe try the opening from my video called “the only white opening you will ever need”. Hope this helps!
The game starts at 17:00, but I would recommend watching the puzzles section too!
You should play against Nelson Lopez once aka chess vibes channel! It will be a good game to watch and especially when you both will be streaming it🙂
Yeah that would be great! I can send him an email and hope he responds though I’m not sure there is much in it for him as my audience is relatively small.
@@MagnusChessUK you will gain audience bro! Really soon and there is nothing that will stop you! Hope your channel provides more education chess content and while you stream whats your thinking process and I guess it will be good! Also I think he won't mind streaming with you... He always supports good chess🙂
Appreciate the explanation. My username is Tarkeb
good idea also streams when?? :)
It’s hard to make time at the moment but I might bring them back for Sundays once a week

dog gambit video gonna be crazy
qe5+ gotta be careful 32:05, you dont lose but it kinda wastes time
Good point, knight back to e2 would have to be played - though this would make Bf4 stronger too. I guess castling first followed by Nf4 was a better option then.
the amount of layers to the second tactic was so impressive
Thanks! It was really cool to be able to play out the trap I set in an OTB game, my opponent thought I blundered and played g4 to trap my bishop pretty quickly, but the look of shock on his face when I quickly responded with Ne5 is something I will remember.
Awesome tactics man!
what would you say calculating is like in your mind? do you visualise the pieces in the squares, if you do how clearly do you see them in your mind or do you just conceptualise where the pieces are without having a clear visual picture
Yes I would say that I visualise the pieces moving in my mind’s eye, it is not clear like playing the moves out but similar to closing your eyes and imagining and apple for example. I didn’t used to be able to do this when playing but calculation exercises and practicing blindfold chess really helped develop my mind’s eye visualisation. Alternatively you can just make a mental note of the changes and square control in the position if you are struggling to visualise, I often do this for shorter and more chaotic calculations, while having mind’s eye visualisation for longer calculations/planning (e.g. a King and pawn endgame race).
@@MagnusChessUK ok thanks
really nice instructive content 👍
I’m glad it helped!
Dog gambit video gonna be a banger
Coming soon
I always make mistakes in opening 😢 i play closed position
That’s okay! If you’re struggling with clear plans try playing an opening with more open files (like the Scotch) where price placement is more obvious. Then you should make less mistakes!
what do you think is the best way to get better at non-theoretical endgames
I’ll make a video on this separately, but you can actually use many of the tips from this video like piece improvement and attacking weaknesses. Though more specifically you should learn principals for each of the endgame types, like rooks going behind past pawns, queens centralised, same coloured bishop endgames with pawns on opposite colour to bishop etc. Once you have learned many different principles from endgame types the best thing you can do is gain experience against other players in those endgames!
Can you help improve in chess
If you are interested in lessons then feel free to send an email to Magnus@magnuschess.co.uk with some information about the goals that you have, your rating and chess.com account, ill reply with some more information about what my coaching involves. If not then you can come along to the next time I livestream where I often play viewers and do free group lessons!
cant believe i missed it 🥲 but i know i wont miss dog gambit
Hell yea - can’t wait to watch this 🙏🏻
awesome!
Can you make a video on caro cann and scotch opening mistakes and strategy
Sure that sounds like a a good idea! Probably 2 separate videos though.
🤔 Don't memorise ok
It’s more that you want to understand first before committing something to memory
does this work for the dog gambit?
Of course!
@@MagnusChessUK great
