    Sold! Funny story: we frayed a wire adjusting an electric table during a couples massage. I mean smoke and everything. 😭 it was so embarrassing. I think the ABC system is worth it… I work with many clients that would definitely love that. I do think it’s weird that every option doesn’t come with a face cradle.

  • @stanleykachuik2589
    @stanleykachuik2589 2 месяца назад

    I installed the heaters underneath the upholstery. Figured it to be more sanitary that way. I built my table from scratch. It's suspended from the ceiling. With the client suspended in the air. Allows for much better modulation of pressure during the massage. Due to gravities effect on displacement of mass. Also realized that we essentially produce a therapeutic effect by manipulating the water in people's bodies. I mean we are primarily 70% water after all. Working on a stationary table is like trying to empty a kids pool with a small cup. Having the table float in the air. Is like emptying a kids pool by tipping it over on its side. Much more effective at reaching the goal within the appointment time allotted.

    I got one of those "wrong number" texts asking what time I needed to be picked up from the airport in the morning. I replied saying that they had the wrong phone number. Then they apologized and I said no problem. I thought it was legitimately a wrong number until this person began asking me about how my day was going and then I knew it was a scammer so I stopped responding. I hope that my phone number does not become a target because of the fact I responded in the first place but maybe I should've played along like he does in the video. That would've been fun to do.

    • @BenjiTheMassage
      @BenjiTheMassage 2 месяца назад

      Thanks for sharing! Most likely you your phone is safe as long as you only replied to a text scammer. If you click any kind of link they send you or refer you to can be hazardous. There is a possibility that your phone number might be shared to other scammers because it was shown to be "active". It can be fun to reply to scammers and I feel that if they are interacting with me they have less time to scam others. :)

    Hey Ben! I just started a small massage therapy business at the end of January. I went in with no money at all, I did not prepare anything ahead of time(my own fault). A few weeks ago I applied for an EIN and I still have yet to find a tax person. I am scared to get judged, I did not save a percentage of what I earned, I am no where near booked so all of my money has gone to all of my personal and business expenses. I am not good with money and I have no idea how to do this without having to use the money I try to save for taxes. How often should I be seeing a tax person and what will they expect for me to bring with me when I see them?

    • @BenjiTheMassage
      @BenjiTheMassage 2 месяца назад

      CONGRATS on starting your business! One of the nice things about a massage business is that start up costs are fairly low. A tax person is there to help you. I didn't know a LOT of these things and I did not put away any money for taxes the first year I was in business. I did have to pay a small penalty, but my tax professional helped me through all that. They can even help you set up a payment plan if you owe more than you can pay. There are factors that influence what you owe in taxes such as amount of income, how much taxes a spouse is paying among others. For example, if you brought in $10,000 in sales but spent $9,000 on your business expenses then you would only owe taxes on that $1,000 difference. A tax professional would most likely want to see at a minimum how much you made and how much you spent in your business. Some people keep a box full of receipts and take this to their tax professional (I do not recommend this method, but we all start somewhere). Your tax professional would also help you identify any other expenses you might want to keep track of such as mileage for your business. If you drive to wal-mart to buy supplies those mile would be considered an expense and tax deductible. You may want to meet with your tax professional maybe 2-3 times a year until you get a handle on how to keep track of your business income and expenses. I wish you the best in your massage business and please let me know how it goes! 🙂

    Hey Ben! Is an LLC and S- corp the same thing??

    • @BenjiTheMassage
      @BenjiTheMassage 4 месяца назад

      Good Question. There are specifics in the differences that a tax professional would be best to consult, I am not a tax professional. An LLC and S-Corp are similar in many ways but one benefit is the ability for the owner of the S corporation can be treated as an employee and paid a reasonable salary thus having an effect on what one would pay in self employment taxes. FICA taxes are withheld and paid on that salary. Corporate earnings after payment of the salary may be able to be treated as unearned income that is not subject to self-employment taxes.

      @@BenjiTheMassage May I ask what you have? LLC?

    • @BenjiTheMassage
      @BenjiTheMassage 4 месяца назад

      @@christinarivas2906 - I am an LLC classified as an S-Corp. It gets confusing as an S-Corp is considered a tax classification, while an LLC is a type of business entity. ( This is the way I understand it anyway.) There is more up front cost in electing to become an S-Corp but depending on how much revenue your business brings in may be the better choice for saving you money in taxes.

    What struggles would you say that women massage therapists have apart from male massages therapists?

    • @BenjiTheMassage
      @BenjiTheMassage 8 месяцев назад

      That's a good question. I can only answer based on what I have witnessed and would love to get a female's point of view on this one. One struggle i see is safety for women. Especially if they work solo. There are still too many people out there (especially men) who think massage is just another name for brothel. This is why many female massage therapists do not work with males and are very selective about the clients they see.

    • @nevillenkhoma2796

      @@BenjiTheMassage thank you and would you say that some female therapists can also cross certain boundaries when it comes to clients, since for male being hired in this industry is more challenging,as we are seen as evil ,when not all men are like that? I do understand that female clients are not comfortable with males massage therapists, even though not all of them(woman) are like that, and also it's understandable due to religious reason and nothing is personal as you Respect them.How do we even create more opportunities for male massage therapists as well, if they are going to spend money on something they worked had for, in order to be successful?

    • @NotYourAvgJoey
      @NotYourAvgJoey 7 месяцев назад

      As a female, you make valid points and it doesn’t seem fair but at the same time I am sure you understand the biased views. Women do have to protect themselves and watch their surroundings. I am not a LMT but have an interest and having gone for several massages I can say from my personal experience what I believe would help you or any honest & professional male in this field: 1. It definitely matters WHERE you work. If a resort/spa/chiropractic office has a great reputation then that will allow the clientele to have more trust, even if you are ‘new to the office’ and don’t really have rapport yet. Ppl may think, well if THIS PLACE hired him he must be good, or I’ll give him a shot because he works for X company that has amazing staff ratings - why would you be any different? 2. It helps, for me, when the male LMT is conversational. It feels awkward for there to be a single question about an area of concern that would help me and then not much else is said throughout the session- and please have a speaker w relaxing tones/ music 3. Please please PLEASE shave your arms. It does NOT feel good to have a harry arm gliding across your back… oh wait, I’m speaking for me 😅. It’s …. Not relaxing and does not contribute to calmness and relaxation- I don’t know how else to put it. I have had plenty of massages, only 3 times from a male MT and I believe in every case I was told when I was checking in for my scheduled appt “oh, there’s no longer a female available but we do have” Jimmy or whoever. Maybe they were looking out for their male staff because of the bias. Anywho, of the 3 one stood out to me and I knew he Graduated from the top MT school in my area plus he plays video games lol, so the dexterity was great. But overall he was easy to talk w, he put me at ease right away and had no problem talking while working and not being weird AT ALL. Also ☝🏽 his arms were shaved/smooth. He was very professional and so it matters where you get the schooling also (they teach professionalism). Didnt mean for this to be such a long response, I hope it helps though and best wishes on your endeavors!

    Good stuff. Healing in both surface and deep tissue. We can educate our clients but if their core beliefs is they’re not getting better unless it’s deep tissue work then I give my clients what they wanted if the lighter touch doesn’t get anywhere with them.

      That's a good question. Can you elaborate a little more on what you mean by picky? I think I know what you mean, but I do have a different take on how I interact with clients and what I would consider "picky".

      @@BenjiTheMassage yesterday a woman was very upset the hotstones were too cold and too hot. She did not say anything in the masssge. I did ask her once and she said it was fine, so I thought I got her thresh hold of tolerance. The room is cold since winter is near, so the stones get cold fast. I do keep the stones covered and place them on towl to cool. She then complains. Request to end membership. In the process of stones being too hot, I do get the heat from the stone and just use my hand until the stone is cooler.

      @@JustinGarfield1 - This can be tough sometimes and not every client is going to be satisfied every time. There are ways to increase the odds of delivering on what a client/guest expects or wants. I talk a lot about this in other videos I have made but it might be time for an update as the way I explain it evolves. We typically get taught in massage school not to talk too much or to let the client lead in how much conversation should take place. This rule does not apply when dealing with things that involve the treatment. In my opinion checking in one time with a client on how the pressure is or how the temperature of the stones are is not enough. It should be a continual conversation to ensure we are on the same page. Yes, there is a chance that we can check in too much, but I have rarely run into a person that has complained that I was checking in too much about how to deliver the best massage for them. That is a short run through of my thoughts. Some other videos I have made in the past that refer to this are... @Kitkat613: They're the ones that scam call in the middle of the night between 1AM and 5 AM. They even get through if you have the "DO NOT DISTURB FEATURE TURNED ON"! I have to put my phone in another room away from my bedroom because I've also found my phone keeps getting turned on after I turn it off. The scammers need to be prosecuted and sent to prison!!!!
