I have never noticed any divits on the local putting green. Just a huge scary clown.

I absolutely hate my birdie putt being ruined by half a dozen improperly corrected ball marks and their dead grass. Someone get this man an award✊

All it does is fill the hole with dirt and you're basically stretching the grass and roots over the hole. It will heal itself. No different than training a plant, to grow how you want it to.

I worked as a starter at a course and on nights I closed I’d take the green keepers ball mark repair tool that works similarly to pull grass from out-to-in to repair all the ball marks on the greens so the guy mowing in the morning did need to. I also took a wedge or short iron and a dozen ProV1s to practice dial in my straight/ fade / draw distances on each hole so it was a ‘win-win’ 😊

Disagree. The best way is to pry, pull, push to fill the hole. Then hit the back “flap” of grass down over the top of ugly repair. Looks perfect, grows perfect.
