I have been very interested in gomazuri, especially after seeing the works of Ido Masao (and Saito of course). Ido seemed to truly have it down to a science! I would love to reverse engineer his technique… and up until this video I wasn’t sure where to start. Luckily, there is a lot of information in your video to at least give me a head start. Thank you for this presentation and for sharing your insights and learnings! One other variable I’m curious about is how different sizings (paper prepared with glue) play a role in the gomazuri effect. Were the papers you tested on pre-sized by the paper manufacturers? I’m inspired to try some similar experiments soon. Thank you again!

The final print looks fantastic! Thanks for sharing your process, Benjamin. In Photoshop, you can extend the canvas size in black color instead of the default white, which saves you from the steps of creating the guides and filling the borders with paint bucket.
