Nice lineup. What are your colored optics? Did you paint them?
@@04kurser Thank you. Primal Finish in Tenn cerekoted them for me. Should have my 6.5 Mega , white, in November
#9 is the best
@@pkplith Not even close… unless you’re talking aftershave
Why do you tape the recoil lug? I thought the purpose of the bedding was to create the perfect mating surface? Can you give specs on the barrel and stock? I like the rear action screw tool you have there. I just ordered my Classic. Should have it in a week.
@@tommyj7087 you tape the sides and bottom and the front of the recoil lug to make it a bit easier to remove it from the stock…especially if you do switch barrels like I do. If you’re not doing switch barrels and don’t plan on taking it in and out of the stock often, you really only need to do the bottom of the recoil lug, but it makes me nervous to only do that so I like just a little bit of play on the sides and front.
@@tommyj7087 Prefered barrel blanks, .810 taperless, 1:7.5 tw, 6mmCM. Stock is McMillian game hunter.
I've had great success with mounting the end of the barrel in the padded vise and then fitting the stock up onto it once you're ready to mate to two together. That way I don't need to worry about to much downward pressure on the front trying to jack up the tang in the back. The stock is much easier to deal with than the weight of the barrel messing things up.
It looks like you posted two video of this barrel. So the first video was out of the box and this one is after you cleaned it? What did you clean it with because this looks like a different barrel. Did you lap and polish it yourself? If so, what did you use?
There are several videos of the PVA barrels I received. Only 7 mm barrels are the ones I had issues with. the 22 Creedmoor and the 6.5 PRC looked great and shoot great. The 22 Creedmoor just had some sort of film in it so I used CLR and a nylon brush and then Bortech products.
@@RifleAccuracyandReloading Oh, so that's what all the stuff that looked like pitting in the barrel was? It looked like a lot of pitting in the 22CM barrel before you cleaned it. :)
That KG 12 was a surprise for sure. I might have to give that one a look.
I probably need to come back and do an update video to these products. I should’ve used my FX 120 scale, but it didn’t want to take my V4 apart to do it. Additionally, the accelerator and wipeout when combined as per the instructions does a really good job.but Boretech is my favorite for general cleaning. But on stubborn copper, I like the KG 12.
@@RifleAccuracyandReloading Yeah, it looks like the KG 12 even beat out the Hoppes #9 which really surprised me.
You'll need a scale that measures much finer than 0.1 grains. Either that or you let them soak for 2 weeks instead of 1 week.
That Montana Extreme Copper killer is potent stuff. I can't use it indoors, it's harsh. :) I did this same test, but over a 20 day period. The copper killer removed ever so slightly more copper than the Hoppes #9. Just barely more, but Hoppes #9 was the clear second place winner over the others I've tested. I'd choose Hoppes over the Copper Killer, just because of the smell. :)
There's no way that's a .183 freebore.
That barrel should have been hand lapped again before it was sent back. Especially since you had to send it back to them.
If you had that barrel lapped, then they did a sucky job. I still see lots of tool marks and honing marks present. They hand lapper needs to be replaced or retrained. Also, any tight spots should have been found during lapping and removed or the barrel should have been rejected and start over.
Yep agreed. Barrel was not lapped
Their reamer was worn out. Send that barrel back right now!!! Also their "hand lapping" needs lots of work. No way would I consider that a "Hand Lapped" quality barrel. Their hand lapper needs to be fired or retrained.
Also on some of those views the steel appears just like a hammer forged Tikka which looks like hash marks, not a button or cut rifled lapped barrel.
Looks like the reamer was dull. I have one and it's well finished. Only 50 rd through it but it's putting up sub MOA without any load development.
Yes, I have two others. It’s too bad because they do do good work.
Great shot, but a 270 shooting a quality 130 grain bullet would have done the same thing.
I agree…and so would a dozen other cartridges
@@RifleAccuracyandReloading 👍
How to the barrel's taste? Like a rainbow of gay...nut job!
Incredible collection.
Thank you kindly
This is very disappointing. I've been considering one of these in 6.5 Creedmoor for my Tikka T3X TAC A1. I've also been looking at a Bartlein, which is a lot more expensive, but now after seeing this, I'm thinking Bartlein.....
Did you send it back , what did you do ?
Yes, I sent it back to them. They are redoing the barrel and should have it to me around June 20. They are very easy to work with and want you to be a happy customer
@@RifleAccuracyandReloading thank you I been considering one of these .
Yup, as usual, all the "experts" got to chime in.
Medium Palma contour?
Yes. I also found that after about 300 rounds it actually shoots pretty decent but not outstanding compared to my other 7 mm Creedmoor.
Definitely liked it with the baffles better.
Thank you for uploading thus, Next time can you put barrel steel in the solution to see if it does indeed effect the barrel of left too long?
sounds just like the newer Harley's
What is that platform that your SAC barrel vise is mounted on?
It is a trick-tools.com stand
Since you added a lubricant your torque is no longer 90 but is reduced to 70% of that or 63 ftlbs
Highly dependent on the type of anti seize. Additionally, that is why I twerk 10 more pounds than what is required.
This looks like the contract barrel overrun sale blanks we had. The ones which we said specifically were leftover from a contract and were not our blanks and they were unlapped button barrels.
I print screened all of the pages when I was ordering those barrels. Nowhere was it mentioned that these were not lapped. Furthermore, if you look at all the videos I posted ,even if they were not lapped it’s no excuse for the wrong speed / feed or using a dull reamer. It is clear these were done improperly.
Saw another video on them, that barrel was worse and was enough reason for me to shop elsewhere.
How did it shoot ?
Really well…just wish they did as good of job on the 7 mm barrels
No need for go / no go gauges?
👍👍
100% those baffles are never going back in. Lining up the bolt holes would be a fkn nightmare.
That poor buck was having a rough autumn
So talk about it
Gorgeous bikes! All of them! Can I ask specifically about that Magna? Was the rear brake drumb/disk swap complicated? Centre stand is a great addition too! What bike did the stand come off? Thanks for any advice
Not difficult. Came off a CBR600. Stand was custom made.
Thanks @@RifleAccuracyandReloading I'm back with another Magna brake question, two disks up front? Do you need to change forks etc from CBR 600?? I would love better brakes!
Saw a fawn today kock a turkey multiple times haha it was hillarious
wow it's amazing , but is this destroy the motor after a lot of kilometers?
No, lets the engine breathe better
Thank you so mush man , love n respect Peace from Egypt
I was thinking that after several shots the sporter barrel may have got hot. That may be the cause in impact change at the end. Either way, 500 yards and 95% on the plate sure looked good to me. What did the groups from this 140 grain Serria look like at 100 yards? I bet pretty consistent. Thanks for the video.
Groups at 100 yds was 1/2”.Yes, we think the barrel got hot and gave us some inconsistency. Thank you.
Jesus's H Christ boy. What are you gonna shoot with that?? Yamaha's??
I just target shoot mostly, but Harleys make good targets.
You don't need the anti-seize. Also, you need to verify the headspacing before removing it from the vice. It's unsafe to "just assume" its right.
This was just to see if threading was correct for the action, since the barrels were not chambered or lapped correctly. And you do need some sort of protection against galling and cold welding.
@TheHondaBikeGuy Well, I'll just shut the hell up then. I thought you were installing a completed barrel and calling it done. :)
@@Rico11b no worries, sometimes it is hard to remember and go into complete detail…and even then you can miss something
Chrome rims, very expensive
as soon as you touched the anti-seize I knew it was over. That stuff goes everywhere.
Any updates on how this shoots?
Contacted several nationally recognized gunsmiths, and they all said that the barrels were not of good quality with regards to the lack of lapping and burrs in the barrel. Have contacted a lawyer in their state. Will update once I get a decision.
Nice shooting, I’ve been jones-in to get my hands on a 280 ai. What model is your rifle ?
Thank you. Rem700,24”barrel 1:9 twist.
This is not an Osprey barrel works barrel it is a left over contract barrel sold for $400
Definitely not an Osprey. It was a cheap overrun barrel for 400 bones
He told me it was a barrel manufacturer that owed him money so they dumped a bunch of these barrels on him. Regardless, he should tell people that these will not be the same quality as he typically produces and that’s what people expect. Additionally, he should be able to respond to my calls and emails if he felt strongly about these barrels and the quality.
@@RifleAccuracyandReloading the $400 dollar pre-fit wasn’t a clue that it was a lower grade barrel? The website clearly stated that these weren’t a RC or OBW. You expected a top tier barrel for less than what is charged for threading and chambering on a end user supplied blank? That’s just being an unwise consumer. Just out of curiosity, how does it shoot?
@@benjaminermold8683 I have taken factory barrels that looked worse than this, and lapped them properly, and they look twice as good as these when finished. The reason why these are poor quality was because of how they lacked proper lapping or if they done it at all. It doesn’t matter if he stated these were not rock Creek or Osprey barrels what he did not state was that they would be of lesser quality with the finished product.
@@benjaminermold8683 Update to this: Several gunsmiths stated the barrels were not lapped and the reamer used was either dull or not used properly. Regardless of the brand of barrel, workmanship is subpar
The barrels engraved with OBW are the Ospreys the 7mm was a cheap over run barrel and not an Osprey. The fancy thread protector is the muzzle Jimmy that was given away with OBWs for Black Friday sale. It is a cleaning aid for soaking barrels
What twist rate does your barrel have? Wanting to rebarrel a Savage .270 Win into 280 AI, thinking about 1 in 8 to 8.5
1:9…that is all you need for a .280. My Fclass rifle has a 1:9 and I shoot 184gr. Will it hurt to do a 1:8.5 or so…nope.
@@RifleAccuracyandReloading Thanks for the advice.
Am glad you posted this video, and hope the barrel shoot good as they looks now( nothing hurt the most)that spending your hard working money in something you not satisfied..!
Is that a Osprey barrel..? Do you contact them? This isn’t the quality and attention to detail the talk in the website about the process of making a Osprey barrel, and they have good reputation, something fall out the tree you should contact them before shooting!
I believe so. Josh won’t return my calls or emails.
@@RifleAccuracyandReloading if this is one of the 7mm Black Friday “overrun” barrels that he sold for sub $400, then this is not an Osprey barrel. I would say see how it shoots. At that price, you basically only paid for the gunsmithing, and got the barrel for free. Mine shoots completely acceptably keeping that in mind.
Is that Mfer used? Looks like garbage.
Nope. Brand new. Josh, from PVA, will not return my emails or calls.
