    Hey, Newton-- if you push hot air out the back into the same room as cool air out the front you have zero net cooling minus the efficiency loss inherent in electrical appliances. It won't "recirculate the air inside" as you say.

    Reading the comments, had my heart spinning. She is an amazing woman, to keep her mind sharp with designs and researching . Not stagnant,and shriveled as the negative comments about her home. Understand homes are just different nests, some simple some complex. But it’s hers, its her safe place,it is most likely PAID FOR, therefore no stress causing discord in relationships. So please, be nasty to someone that you feel, has a much more carefree & happier life than you. (You know ,that we all can tell that your so stress, and unhappy.) As a Gma, I must repeat…IF you cannot be nice, keep it to yourself ! I stand alongside this woman, any day !!

    Fabulous-please know that plastic fan blades will flex enough to almost flatten ! Find cheaper,sturdier (old metal ) blades. To r/r , than I believe you will get a much high return in air vs same energy use of your fan motors. Jet eng technician/25+

    I'm not trying to be critical, just commenting on things I would do a little different if I had this setup. I would have the fan(s) pull all their air though the radiator, so either sized to fit the radiator face, or block off any parts of the fan that are bigger than the radiator. I couldn't stand that noise all day of the water and pump, since I'm not where it freezes during winter, I would have the pump and fittings just outside the wall on a side of the house that gets no sunlight, then I would have the pipe pierce the wall just to supply the radiator and fan on the inside of the house. I might even consider building some kind of box to contain the radiator and fan(s), sort of a plenum box with inlet and outlet for air, which might help a lot with efficiency.

    OK just for the record be aware that there are a huge number of scam artist after saying they’re gonna sell this thing to you for $67 with free shipping. If you try to call her phone number or email them neither one are valid so don’t be taken in these things run, at least $499 to buy and that’s the battery which cost even more and it’s this tiny little thing

    Do earth tubes work? Yes, but you need a *large*, *long* tube. Think 32 inches diameter and 250 feet long, buried 10 feet below grade. if much shorter, hot air won't cool to 10°C, cold air won't warm to 10°C. if smaller in diameter, you need a *big* fan to suck the air through. google the paper "Earth to Air Thermal Exchanger (EATEX)" by the Canadian government.

    You need to use a closed loop with an inline pump and place your fan so it blows through the rad and not sucking air past the rad . do these things and your system will work better. As for the air pipe that runs under ground , it can actually be harmful , because it can introduce mold and bacteria into your room from moisture that collects in the underground pipe. I would not use it . Just stick with the closed loop water pipe system . Great system .

  • @Kangenpower7
    @Kangenpower7 3 месяца назад

    With 4" pipe, there is 6.5 gallons in 10 feet. So you with 100 feet, it is 65 gallons or about 8 cubic feet if air in there. So if you pull 8 CFM, it will spend about 1 minute cooling inside the pipe. Your longer length, a little more than 1 minute. If you increase this to about 96 CFM, that is with your 170 foot length, about 15 seconds in the pipe. Maybe enough time to cool the air. Hopefully! By the way, a 12,000 Btu A/C unit can put out 400 CFM of air, and will use about 1,000 watts per hour. (For a ductless heat pump that is 20 SEER, and can cost $730 on Amazon. ). So input air on the ductless heat pump is 75 with output of 55F. Or 85F input and output of 62F. I was considering putting in a 12,000 BTU 120 volt ductless heat pump, and run it with 8 each solar panels, a set of 8 batteries (6 volt X 200 AH golf cart batteries wired to 48 volt DC) and a 5,000 watt pure sine wave inverter. The PowMR inverter is $750 on Amazon with a MPPT charge controller. I bought 8 each 250 watt solar panels for $85 each on Craigslist. Battery cost at Costco is $120 each, so about $900. So for less than $3,000 you can have a solar system, battery system, and 5 KW inverter to power the ductless HVAC and anything else when cooling and heating is not required. I have fairly low cost electricity, so it would only save me about $30 a month. So I decided the hassle to install it, and the cost, the $30 in savings each month, it was not worth it.

    One thing I've noticed in these earth cooling projects. Never does anyone show the actual cooling in the end. They show all this hard work, but no finish project of it working. My guess the ground heats up with the air you are pushing in. Then you get no cooling. Wish someone would show the end project.

    what ive learned about these systems... it will not take a hot room and make it cool. it will take a cool room and keep it cool. so running it in the morning and throughout the day is the only way this works. closed systems with antifreeze or similar is better than water. more small pipes is better than one large pipe. you want surface of pipes to be in contact with dirt that is how they get cool. You do not need to dig that deep. once you reach the 50-55 ground that is enough because it does not get cooler deeper you go it maxes out at 50 degrees. exhaust up high, radiator and fans can be at head level. Dryer climates evap cooler just as good. insulation is the key to making this work at all. you want the house sealed up real good. I have not seen this but it might be possible to have multiple radiators if they exit temp is still cool on your first radiator then keep adding until it looses the cooling effect.
