Because Devra can explore your project and learn about it on its own, a prompt like "port the JavaScript implementation of snake to Java" can actually get the job done or at least get you 80% of the way there Devra: devra.ai Github: github.com/devra-ai #porting #aitutorial #javascripttutorial #javascriptgame #javatutorial #javagame #snakegame

So will we all lose our jobs now?
This is a thought-provoking question and the response needs more than a "Thanks for commenting!" reply. You've inspired me to make a community channel to do video replies and the first video is the response to your comment: ruclips.net/video/YE1Z2ZKhasM/видео.html
@@devra_ai Thank you! That is amazing!
Wow that is so awesome 🧨💯💯💯💯
hope its totally free :(
So Tony Hawk now does RUclips videos?
I've gotten "body like Arnold with a Denzel face" before, but this is a new one!
Nice one, that was quick :)
Your comment was helpful! I appreciate it
Fix your frontpage in mobile version > toggle nav isnt showiny 😅
Hii
Minesweper
I had some fun with devra but ran out of credits quickly and didn't finish my complex project. I was giving a lot of feedback and feeding it back error messages. I'm also curious how it works under the hood a little bit so I could use it more effectively. Do you have a discord server or some chat service like matrix/irc? I've got a lot of feedback.
Put one up for you! discord.gg/mYRyYjtm
Ok, so you made a crappy game and learned nothing in the process. How is this helpful?
You're right that AI does not yet automatically create world-changing apps. What I find it most helpful for is getting a project or code task off the ground. This video shows how to go from nothing to something in a very short period of time. It solves the blank-page problem.
@@devra_aiit will never make a world changing app. It doesn’t think or learns.
The code could also be used as a starting point and to see if you like the road it takes... 🤔
Part of minesweeper is that you will never hit a bomb on the first click. So you will have to revise it so if you hit a bomb it reshuffles the board.
Your exact comment was used! ruclips.net/video/oIrAQ4WZW_A/видео.htmlsi=gO9usKdQnYLw2xw-
Their website is buggy on Android mobile. The hamburger menu doesn't work at all and the content is weirdly offset to the left. It doesn't look intentional?
You are 100% right - at this stage I wasn't focused on mobile development. It's just me doing everything right now! I will get to the mobile version of the site soon, I promise.
@devra_ai No worries. I kind of got the feeling that was the case. I hope I didn't come off as brash or that I'm downplaying your progress. Keep up the great work dude! I'm excited to see how this comes along.
Man, you've made my day - thank you!
As cool as this is, I think progression on AI at this point should slow down (but this is entirely my opinion so pls don't hate me)
From a service standpoint, I agree with you - I think the number of things that incorporate AI is getting a bit out of control because they are trying to take advantage of a fad. For example, the Instagram search engine… Please just turn it back into a regular search!
Cliffhanger! I eagerly await a goodstuff-filled Part 2! ❤️🩹
Because there are many source code variations of the Snake game in the LLM dataset (Java, JS etc.). If you try to do some complex and obscure stuff, it will eventually fail
Now port the whole Linux kernel to Rust
😝let's go for it!

We'd have to do some title parsing

Text to speech sure had a tough time with “up votes” 😂
I've experienced this too, albeit not in the form of Dislikes on RUclips. There's strong anti-AI sentiment right now amongst the general public, even though they couldn't define AI if you gave them all the time in the world. They only know "AI = bad!" and that's where their thought process starts and ends. The frog is in the pot, and the water is heating up. The water around is starting to boil, but people have already adjusted expectations, so instead of immense technological progress being something amazing to people, they take for granted how much progress it took to get us to here and now, where we have the most comfortable lives in the history of mankind. Instead of progress, they'd rather see anyone who's excited about the future to be torn down, because they complain about their lives being miserable but their terrified of it changing at all. In short, they're Luddites, lmao
Some theories: 1. People don't believe it? Maybe they think the jump from "Make it full screen" -> working full screen mode was unbelievable? 2. General anti-AI sentiment. Some people fear the impact of AI automation more than they see potential for good
It's University of Saskatchewan, not Saskatchewan University.
😅
If your very specific with the instructions you can get fire sources from chat
I'll bet! Any suggestions?
@@devra_ai you can ask chat to make an assay using different sources and them have it correctly state where the sources is being used
But there is a problem with that argument, too. The easy, boilerplate, boring, low-hanging fruit code, is low-cost to create anyhow. So there is no ROI in having an AI take over such tasks. And they don't even constitute a great lot of programming because as professional programmers we already known how to automate them away. It's not that much faster to have AI type than to copy-paste an example from StackOverflow or Google (and when you copy a working example, it is more likely that it has been vetted by humans and will not be randomly polluted with AI hallucinations). So the only audience I think may enjoy this AI boilerplate generation is programming novices. I can see value for when you are learning a new library/API or a new programming language, but not much beyond that. (I already read comments everywhere about people getting tired of working with CoPilot.)
How about for unit tests? Personally, I love using AI to mock out all of the required data and build out the obvious tests
@@devra_ai There little to zero value in building "obvious tests" - that's just adding redundancy to your code.
The thing with writing exact natural language specs for an AI is that you can actually code them faster and with fewer errors yourself using a programming language. Turns out natural language is just not the most precise programming language to use for programming. An AI which would impress would be one which would notice the hole in the spec and ask you back about it - which you would generally expect from any halfway competent human programmer.
I sometimes feel the same way, but don't think it needs to be all-or-nothing: ruclips.net/user/shortsgJhb8eyBkKE
Great to see concrete results of using AI as opposed to the typical "My AI can code anything, trust me"!
What should we get it to make next?
Better yet, dont use AI
So, for any programming project I do, I don't use 100% AI. It's not there yet and, honestly, our skills at thoughtfully creating prompts needs improving. Right now it feels like a good mix is to get AI to kick off a task, let it get the boiler plate code in, and begin the classes/functions, but then to use human-based intelligence to finish out the job and validate results
What is Devra
Funny you should ask! devra.ai
finally, honesty and humility in the ai space devra's going places
I appreciate this; both AI an life: not as easy as it seems sometimes
