For many years, The Griffiths® were known for their unique vocal arrangements, specifically of the old hymns like, All Hail The Power. Later, most of the songs they recorded were written or co-written by the groups leader. Many of these songs were also recorded by other gospel music groups like, The Cathedrals, The Kingsmen, The Hoppers, The McKamey's, The Florida Boys, The Hayes Family, The Down East, The Greenes and many others.

Here's a song written by Robert that was eventually made popular by The McKamey's. Please visit "The Story Behind The Song" playlist on this channel and you can hear Robert tell the story that was the inspiration for the writing of this song. It was first recorded by The Gethsemane Quartet when The Griffiths were part of that group, then The Griffiths, then The McKamey's and many other since. It was #2 on the top 40 in gospel music in 1990. Claude Hopper always loved kidding Robert about having the #2 song and that's because it was #2 to The Hoppers first #1 song in their history, Here I Am. Enjoy!

Here's a song written by Robert and performed here at the Church In The Valley, Teays Valley, West Virginia in 1989 and from their project entitled, "2nd Generation". This is the first album that included Matt and Audra as primary vocalists with The Griffiths along with Robert, Patti and brother Rick. Matt was 12 and Audra 10 years old at the time. Enjoy!
