Played on a 70th classic Fender Mexico Strat with Seymour Duncan SSL5 Pickups
I was there.
I've read that during the 80's he would get Fender strat copies and smash those instead of his actual Fenders. But during the 70's he was smashing actual Fenders. Those black and sunburst Strats he played during the height of the MK2 era were smashed. That California Jam strat that he smashed against the TV camera wasn't an actual Fender.
I was there! I remember this well!
Where is it?
Great guy great destruction.
Horrable!!! Blackmore sucks and Turner sucks
Yep...Ritchie’s got the goods.
Ritchie toss the guitar way higher than Malmsteen 😂
I have a great copy but looking for separate audeince sound to mix it. Anyone can help?
JLT sucks! ONLY Gillan can sing this!! But the band was insane!!
I love how he went for the security guard, I would of done the same
An actual white Strat getting the treatment!
EPIC PERFORMANCE!
He thought ok a-hole you like leaning on the stage, I'll see how good of smash I can do upside your fat head.
tez bylem na tym koncercie - wtedy nie docenialem voc Joe Turnera - myslalem : eee to nie to co Gillan , ale jak kiedys uslyszalem back in black w jego wykonaniu to zmienilem zdanie - posluchajcie sobie
I was at this gig!
5-8-1987 J.L.A.
There is Ritchie and then all the rest.
i was be there!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!
Teraz ja jestem w jego wieku,i doskonale go rozumiem.A za trzy tygodnie znowu poznańską Arenę wypełni tłum fanów Deep Purple.
theres only one BLACKMORE !!!!! he is a genius !!!
my parents were on this concert and i was sleeping in a cradle in my granma house:)) now i'm listening to this music! can't wait for concert in poznań in february:)
Super!!!!!

I hate him for that!
I saw Ritchie smash a guitar on this same tour in April of 1987, at the Spectrum in Philadelphia, only he climbed way up on the sound system and dropped the guitar down below, then he grabbed another guitar, smashed that one, put it on the base where the drum set was, turned the knobs all the way up so it would feed back, then went over and grabbed it put it over his back, while he played the other strat.
Ritchie Blackmore!! Always the best... and for me is the best intro of Lazy of MarkIIb (reunion) ... ... yes... the best!!! :)
Thats the year i was born, and i was named after this Rock God
phenomenal intro ! gotta love ritchie..
Wtf was he on ?
I was at this show! I was about 6 rows back between Glover and Gillan!
Long live Jon! GREAT tune! ROCK AND ROLL!
Blackmore and the band grew during the MKV days, sure, but they were even better during MKIIC. You're right, Joe took DP to another level. To bad he couldn't take them to a higher level. Joe is one of the best singers out there, but the wrong man for a english hard rock band.
The band was smokin', but JLT was so completely wrong for this great band that no words exist to describe it! There's only one singer who fits this band, and that's Ian Gillan!
Have you seen the 1993 MKII tour???????????????
Great video. I saw these guys the same year in Chicago. Blackmore left the stage briefly and traded his white Strat for a sunburst guitar, which he proceeded to destroy in a similar fashion. Awesome show.
byłam na tym koncercie!!
most favourite moment in my life first visit of DP to my country.
@paicefreak I was there too!
@800764 No, he lived in the USA since 1970 and He bought only Fender USA. First of all because he wanted to choose the best guitars to play. The onse he didn't like (from the Fender USA) were smashed on stage. And that is all. Malmsteen buys japanes copies, not Ritchie ahahah!
God of Guitar is Ritchie Blackmore !
It's not every day you hear Deep Purple singing 'Knees Up Mother Brown' (@5:04)! It seems 'Running Bear' was a folk song too far for RItchie, though, as he runs off @5:47. Ian Gillan seems to be looking to see where Ritchie has gone @6:34, although he soon re-emerges once Jon Lord starts playing the 'Black Night' riff on the piano. And at the end of the clip, you can hear Gillan introducing a "Swiss folk song" - the video for which is also here on RUclips!
amazing. I was at this show! it was my first ever concert and Bad Company was the opening act!! Thank you so much for posting this... any more videos from this show???
seen them at the Joe twice this show and 85 both rocked.
Thanks. That was great. Saw two excellent shows from the HOBL tour
@mikegotteri No, Ritchie always smashed original fenders, because he used to buy a lot of Strat, the ones that sounded good were played, the others that he didn't like (sound, neck, fretboard etc) were smashed on stage.
