Aussie Brothers React to The Roots - Mellow My Man
Просмотров 210Год назад
“Mellow My Man” (1995) "It was a glimpse into how we get down and our world. There were no live hip-hop bands before us. It was very much decided ahead of time that we were going to have the same instrumentation on every song. “Mellow My Man,” again, the lyrical dexterity and how well Malik and I worked together. If “Proceed” was a representation of where my head was at, then “Mellow My Man” wa...

Gregory is Amazing, I’d Also recommend listening to Ben Howard, ‘I Forget where we were’ is a great Album
I have to point out the awesome BASS in this song! My mother was a Bass Player so I naturally, pick up on it immediately. This is one of my favorite songs btw! Great show, guys! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Gareth Coker is absolutely amazing! Their best work is on the Ark series.
Guys, can you react and share your thoughts on the lyrics of 'Somebody' by TSHA, Ellie Goulding and Gregory Porter, personally, it was my favorite song of last year and it sadly kinda flew under everyone's radar, hope you guys check it out ♥︎
Without a doubt my favorite song of 2023
This song I hold in my heart always. It was my bestfriend's favorite song.. Rest in power Ari...
<3
You guys should react to Tori Amos. The beginning of those song kinda reminds me of Precious things-Tori Amos..that songs dark and beautiful like this one
Thanks @1981cvalentine, I'll check out that song. Dark and beautiful music is right up my alley. Cheers, Rob
Nice song
Yeah it's a great cover. I like the original Coldplay song too. Rob
@@listening_lounge yeah
Check out more of her music and listen to her first album Jaguar part 1 and her ep's .
@MeenaRuth2093 Hey Meena, we also reacted to Victoria Monet's song "We Might Even Be Falling in Love (Duet)". Unfortunately we couldn't include the music portion of our video as it's a Spotify exclusive but you can watch our reaction to it if you're interested. Here's the link. ruclips.net/video/lU2gry-bN8E/видео.html I'll check out her ep's. Cheers! Rob
I love Greg. He is fantastic!
@ms-mousa Cool to meet someone who also enjoys Gregory's music and web development :) I just subscribed to your channel
React to Fourthy of July by Sufjan Stevens, but maybe tell about sufjan's mother first
Hey @dvdsonarc, sorry for the delayed reply! We'll definitely react to other Sufjan songs in the future and Fourth of July is one I'm very keen to get Scott's reaction to
Love the reaction guys, and really happy to have a new album out by Gregory! This Empty Northern Hemisphere is still my fav by him!
Hey @DarrenCampbellmusic sorry for the delayed reply! We've been away the last couple of weeks. Great to hear you liked our reaction :) I love that album too, it has my favourite song by Gregory on it - "Big Black Car" Cheers, Rob
No worries at all! Yes thats a fantastic song too @@listening_lounge
Please react to the strokes- the new abnormal album🙏
Hey @notsomeoneyouknew sorry for the delayed reply! We've been away the last couple of weeks. Thanks for the suggestion! We'll check it out. Cheers, Rob
3 mins 16 seconds, Sufjan starts repeating line, my burning heart… something happens musically there, can’t articulate it, but I got chills
It had the same effect on me (Rob) the first few listens. It becomes quite electronic at that point and has a certain coldness to it which matches how he must have felt
Hi all, for anyone who hasn't heard, Sufjan was recently diagnosed with Guillain-Barré syndrome and has spent time in an acute rehab unit to undergo physical therapy and learn to walk again :( Scott and I are both thinking of Sufjan and wishing him a speedy recovery back to full health.
And the album is dedicated to his partner who died in April. He’s had such a horrible year! 😢 It’s a beautiful album! I especially love Shit Talk.
It was very saddening to read that news 😢 Rest in peace Evans Richardson
Shit Talk is INCREDIBLE!!!
Agree! That was basically my reaction after listening to the album
Im a previous fan of yachty... he has a couple of old bangers and a lot of trash songs but i still like him. But i am definitely lovin and welcoming the change
@sagewhitmore1158 I feel the same way. Looking forward to seeing the musical direction he takes over the next few years
DOOM and Danger Mouse did an entire album dedicated to Cartoon Network’s Adult Swim programming. It’s the album that introduced me to both creator’s genius. This track is likely from the session.
“The Mouse and the Mask”
@djdoit31 I was also introduced to both artists through that album :) I was in high school at the time. Thanks for the reminder to listen to it again. Cheers, Rob
The "Belize" thing is likely a reference to Breaking Bad, so it might be from later sessions too.
Audio and video seems a bit out of sync.
@dylon2372 Thanks for letting us know! We'll have a look at the video again. Was there a certain part that seemed to be out of sync?
Maybe the best hip-hop song ever recorded. THANK YOU for reacting!
Such a fun track! And glad to hear you liked our reaction :) Love your name by the way👌
"Mondays starting to feel like Fridays" meant that he's spending everyday as if it's Friday, and going too hard drinking/smoking etc. Every single day of the week... And this album is actually an introspective and retrospective album in comparison to his last two. If you listen to any of his songs from FREE 6LACK, and then "Switch" from his next album East Atlanta Love Letter, and THEN, (I know this is a long ask lol) but if you had heard a couple of his later songs in Since I Have A Lover, you might see it's actually an entire recollection and reinvention of his past two in sequential order, and then consequential order therein Since I have a Lover. If I were to pick a couple out such as "Rent Free", then "NRH" (Night Ride Home) in S.I.H.A.L you might see that Inwood Hill Park is actually based on a theme of some (if not most) of his songs from his earlier albums, where he blamed his previous partners for their failed relationships. But then finally realised he had to step up and accomodate them. Subsequently creating this record. He was selfish early on, even though inwood hill seems sad, it's actually a sadness reflected on the younger version of himself being so selfish. If that makes sense. If you reacted to those three songs I suggested in order that would be the sickest. Just to hear your thoughts as well. Anyways, mad reaction boys. Got a sub outta me🔥🔥🔥
In his later songs in Since I Have A Lover, he also reveals how his girlfriends ended up leaving him, before he got to like he used to do before he realised it was him that was the problem. That's some real growing up and changes, so kudos to 6LACK. And now he's dealing with all the pain. His writing is pretty sick. Hope you check em out bros 💯
Thanks for breaking down the "Mondays starting to feel like Fridays" line @arloking and thanks for providing further context to this song :) It gives the lyrics a lot more weight. Definitely sounds like 6LACK was writing from a more mature and reflective point of view in this album which is cool to see. Thanks for those song recommendations too! We'll check them out as soon as we get a chance. Cheers, Rob
@@listening_lounge For sure mate, cheers bro. Keen to check out more of the channel. Love the comments youse gave so far. Top content. Looking forward to seeing those songs reacted to as well🤜🏽🤛🏽
@arloking Sorry for the delayed reply! I've been unwell the last couple of weeks but starting to feel better now. Cheers mate! Really appreciate the positive feedback and I hope you enjoy some of our other videos. Cheers, Rob
one of my fave frank samples 👍.
It's one of my favourites too :) Cheers, Rob
Simple yet magical is the way i define this song
Well said :)
Now react to Paris Texas - Lana Del Rey
@NoseKnowsNoNotes You'll be happy to know that we've already reacted to Paris, Texas :) Hope you like it. Here's the link: ruclips.net/video/d9H37RyREBw/видео.html
@@listening_lounge no no, the other way around, the duo Paris Texas just released a song called Lana Del Rey
Oh ok haha, we'll check it out. Cheers!
Strawberry swings forever!
:) Love the Beatles reference
More Lana Del Rey please😢😢😢
We'll definitely do more Lana Del Rey songs in the future :)
That’s actually me on the sax on “Black Anime” 👋🏾
Oh nice! You killed it @BraxtonCookmusic 👌
Yall should totally watch more of Gregory Alan Isakov! Hes an amazing artist.
We definitely will! He's one of my favourite artists. Can't wait for his new album to be released next month :) Cheers, Rob
@@listening_lounge Cheers mate
I think it can be understood as both “got a cop” and “gods a charlatan” as she often elusively uses words which sound similar so the song is more mysterious and open to interpretation. This was a really fantastic, thorough reaction by the way and I much appreciated it as a fellow Aussie. You guys would also enjoy Heroin and Dark Paradise (both fan favourites and also rock influenced)
Thanks for the feedback MarNarr! Really appreciate it. And thank you for the suggestions too :) We'll check out those songs
🔥
We felt the same way about this track Jerome!
I love the part of When you know, you know, also used in Margaret, another song from the album 🤗 ❤
I love that part too. I really like the theme of intuition in these songs as we sometimes forget how helpful it can be at times. Thanks for reminding me to listen to that song again Mike! Cheers, Rob
Not me thinking the album cover was really nice artwork on the wall this whole time
You weren't wrong :)
glad you’re feeling better excited to watch this vid
Thanks Erin! Feeling much better now. Keen to get back to reviewing music :) Cheers, Scott
700th like :O
Thanks! Glad to hear you liked the video :)
I 💖 US
I’m here 2 months later and it’s crazy to me that this song still only has 6 million streams on Spotify
Definitely not getting the attention it deserves
This song should be way more popular
Agree! Looks like this album didn't get the promotion it deserved
Knx is the goat
We're big fans of Knxwledge too. He's got a great ear for samples
do phoebe bridgers next
Hi Emel, I love indie folk music so we definitely will in the future :) Cheers, Rob
Agree, so consistent. .Paak and Knxwledge do it again.
Can't wait to hear the album!
One of prince guitarist did the solo
How do you know this? Has this been confirmed by anyone?
You're right! Just read that it's Jairus Mozee
Yep, it's mentioned on Stones Throw's website
🔥
This track in emoji form
you really have to listen to her chronologically b/ there are soo many callbacks in this one song to her previous works. the "not abt trying to find someone to love me anymore" is a call back to video games with the opposite sentiment. the Jimmy ref we've seen throughout her works etc etc she really is an artist who constantly refers to her older works/sentiments n has some themes that she plays out consistently.
Thanks for providing that context sn12! We'll definitely react to other Lana songs in the future. I'm planning to go through Lana's discography so I'm looking forward to hearing her earlier works :) Cheers, Rob
jimmy has appeared as a place holder name since her second album lol. sometimes he's Jim sometimes jimmy sometimes John!
Ah right! I'll keep this in mind when I'm listening to Lana's earlier songs. Thanks again!
Laura Palmer would rock with this if she was alive just saying
I'm guessing you're talking about Laura Palmer from Twin Peaks? I haven't seen that series but from what I've read I think she would
