Inside Over the Top Fix: Cause and Effect
Просмотров 275День назад
Possibly the biggest fault in the history of golf is the over the top swing. Typically the over the top part is a correction of things that occur in the set up and the backswing. In most cases, if you take the over the top away things get worse. In this video I will take you through the steps to fixing one of the biggest problems in golf.
3 Steps to the Top: Uncomplicated your Backswing
Просмотров 54614 дней назад
The better your backswing can get the more uncomplicated the downswing will be. In this video we will visit 3 easy steps to find you way to the “top”. Three of the big mistakes in the backswing are twisting the face open and the club laid off or across the line. This drill will address all of these issues.
Sit to Start Your Downswing: Combining Foot Pressures
Просмотров 42921 день назад
Much like the hammer throw, as the club goes out to the ball we must push away to offset the force of the club head. This video explains the pressures that occur in the feet in the downswing to complement and offset the forces of the club.
The Swing is a Circle ⭕️
Просмотров 590Месяц назад
The swing is a tilted circle. While over the top continues to be one of the biggest issues in golf, an in to out swing path can host a number of problems. The picture I would love to sell you is the grip works around your body and so does the club. The ball is the apex of the swing and the club swings left from there.

      Thanks Bill and great question. The obvious would be a little longer swing to create speed..also as you get a little bigger with the swing the trail hip needs to get out of the way as well.

    Fantastic video for those trying to go OTT as taught on You Tube I find it fascinating that the number one miracle inside OTT guy on You Tube is now discovering that his moving closer to the ball counterbalances his weight distribution; and that he now claims to be swinging further and more direct to his target then ever before. And yet he still markets his swing as OTT. Ummm Cheers 😊🥂👍.

    • @BillyFitzgeraldGolf
      @BillyFitzgeraldGolf 8 дней назад

      Just a couple fact checks here..1. Moving closer to the ball allows you to push away with your feet to create space 2. Counterbalancing your weight is how you set up your body which you can feel in your feet. Better posture so you’re in balance & closer to the ball to push away.

    I'm able to hit the ball effortlessly off a tee with this instruction of finding the flat spot. However when I apply the concept to iron shots when the ball is on the ground, I seem to be unable to take a divot and often thin my shots. It seems like this concept produces a very shallow angle of attack. What do I need to do to add/adjust this swing concept to get a descending blow that produces a divot and solid contact without compromising the integrity of the flat spot motion?

    • @BillyFitzgeraldGolf
      @BillyFitzgeraldGolf 10 дней назад

    How does the L to L relate to the Malaska move where the the club head tips out on the downswing? Should they feel the same? They don't to me.

    • @BillyFitzgeraldGolf
      @BillyFitzgeraldGolf 10 дней назад

      Great question..L to L is basically training your hands to an extent. When you talk about tipping the club out your body needs to start moving back and out of the way to allow you enough room. Great question..video coming.

      Thanks for the note..not surprisingly I get this sometimes. Anytime I’m working with face and path and not low point I suggest using a tee to get a feel. I’m 71 years old and started playing golf in my 30’s. I’ve had plenty of professional instruction and watched every golf video on RUclips. (Well, maybe not every one). I’ve never or can’t remember being told about the rotation of the arms at the top of the backswing. I tried this on the driving range before my round today. Hit a half dozen shots and immediately knew this was a game changer for me. I’m an 11 handicap. Shot a 40 on the front and as I got more comfortable with the feel at the top of my swing my shots just got better. Even par on the back. I’ve played enough golf to know it wasn’t a lucky round. Just solid golf shots. Thanks. If I could only sink more putts!

    Found your video after sort of “discovering” this feel on my own pitching today. Incredible contact. My feel was to just allow the club head to pass my hands. I’ve been a dragger forever. Found some nice easy pop by letting the club head pass my hands today / getting thebbutt of the club to point at my right hip as soon as possible A key for me is to keep the chest moving, the hooks showed up when my body paused. Staying target focused helped

    Hi Billy, great video, Ive switched to L to L as I find it a much more easier and relaxed swimg when Im under pressure , competitions etc, my fabricated swing breaks down at those points, but after my backswing L I like to start the transition by pulling the handle towards the target , providing my grip is not tight 3/4 out of 10 the club will fall naturally fall and whip through the ball. I achieve relatively good distance this way for my 62 years and its consistant. Question is i am not using any body in tbis swing really and i am looking to go to the next level can you reccommend something for me. Thank you very much for reading this long post. Paul

    Hi Billy, I am huge fan of Malaska golf teachings, and I like hearing your point of view on golf teachings. I am VERY familiar with pretty much every Malaska drill, video, concept, etc, and have been building a golf swing for the last 6 months using Malaska as my RUclips coach. I have a question about "the swing", and I hope isn't too difficult to answer without seeing video my myself. My statement before my question: I am really good on the range at the drills, finding the right drills, and SOMETIMES put everything together and have a really good swing. My question: how do I actually put everything together consistently to have a repeatable swing? Again, I am good at each drill individually, but when I go to the course, everything goes out the window because there isn't a "drill" to do. Is there something I can practice to consolidate all the drills together to actually build my "unconscious swing"? Is there ONE drill that I could ALWAYS do that is my "course drill"? Looking forward to any feedback!

    • @BillyFitzgeraldGolf
      @BillyFitzgeraldGolf Месяц назад

      Thanks for the note..I get this question a lot. The swing has to become one motion at some point and the drills are very specific to one movement pattern typically. First I would take time between shots on the range to see if you can get consistent strikes. On the course build a pre shot routine where your mind is more target oriented with a feel of a swing.
