It's not particularly an Australian thing, but many of the interviewers there back then were just terrible on camera. Mainly I think, because they were not suited to it coming from either DJ-ing (radio record slingers) or former performers themselves. They were nervous on camera and this makes the artist nervous too. Added to that, like this chap here- he was a dag, a generation older, no common ground. Just my opinion from growing up there. I'm in the UK now so out of touch but hope it has changed.
