It was open to the public on Maritime Day this year. 21May2023. Hopefully, it will be open next May also.
this camera can produce way better pictures shooting raw and with the 10mm lens, also the 30-110 lens is really cool,

@@franksanchezcapellan8464 maybe your iso is too low, try setting your iso to auto or auto 400 or 800, or your speed is to high for the amount of light you have, if you’re shooting indoors you’re gonna need some softlights or a big ringlight
@@franksanchezcapellan8464Check your kit lens, there were problems with the 10-30 lens. I purchased a used 18.5mm lens on Amazon.
@@noncustody Love the 18.5 / 1.8 With the 2.7 crop = 50mm. Small, light and sharp. I just leave it on my J3.

I got this camera 3 years ago with kit lens and telephoto at a pawn shop for 100US. Works perfectly, it is mainly a novelty camera for me now as I have so many other interchangeable lens models. The lack of a tilt screen or EVF is what keeps me from using it more but it is a nice camera.

I picked one up recently at a thrift store for $5! Didn’t have a battery though so not even sure if it worked when I bought it but worth the risk for five bucks. Got two new batteries and a charger for $20 and sure enough when I popped one in the camera it turned on and was working like a dream. Thanks for the info about it!

Still love this camera to this day. Don’t need to be so snobby about camera’s, most of us are not professionals. Just give me a good camera, good build, good battery life, and go have fun with it. It has more than enough functions for most anyone out there.

@thatoneguy8910 wow you're taking it kind of personal. They weren't good cameras the sensors are very small the lenses that work on them are incredibly limited you can't adapt other lenses like you can with the Sony e mount or Olympus Panasonic micro four thirds which you can buy for like 50 to $100 or so which are lot better choices for the same amount of money. Nikon has made some really good cameras and some really terrible ones. This one's no better than a cheap point and shoot camera from the 2000s that you can probably buy for 20 bucks.
@@bobmorr2892 it is an OK camera if Nikon not crippled it with shitty firmware that limit use of manual lens,buried common setting deep inside menu etc..but i agree ,even old MFT camera is better than these now
You can't really buy something better for less when it comes to video that is this small. It is not nearly as good as a Z series but it is great for a walking around video cam that doesn't suck and is still tiny. Olympus is terrible for video unless you get something much newer. Sony is much more expensive than 50 bucks for anything that will work. You can get an adapter to get other lenses to fit but it is really a walking around photo and video camera for travel.

I bought this camera way back with standardzoom lens and the telezoom. I had a compactcamara that did not work inside and wanted something better but still portable. With the little zoomlens you can leave it in a pocket in your jacket and go your way. I never had regrets buying this camera. When you buy this, be sure to have the battery and batteryloader included.
Old Vid, but just to point out the lens looks like the 10-30 VR lens. That stands for "Vibration Reduction" you can adjust the levels in the camera's menu. Choices are, Normal/Active/off

The J1 was the camera that introduced me to mirrorless photography. I have a Z 50 now, but I always keep my J1 nearby.
If you mean the Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ50? That's a workhorse!!! I still use it for studio work.

I just picked that camera up with the original white case 2 lenses for $18. I gotta tell you I had cameras newer made in 2017 that don't even come close to the quality of this camera that I paid 18 bucks for. Shocking
you really scored at that price.... I am finding it locally for parts for $40-$50.... I have the Nikon 1 J1, and just picked up the J5.... For being a discontinued camera.... its fantastic for vacationing without lugging around my fullsize DSLRs .... Super jealous of your find....

Have a G10. Honestly if it's sunny enough to use 80 iso this thing is amazing. I have Fujifilm xe-2, x100f, and x-pro2 cameras and for jpegs in sunshine this camera can keep up. Any iso above 80 forget it. This camera has a ccd sensor so the colors and image rendition are just wonderful.
Actually still an amazing vlogging camera.

Just bought a J5 body only less than 50 shutter count, and still paid $280... including shipping... I still think it's worth it, since I can use my other Nikon lenses with the adapter...

Yes I love my G10 and pleased you confirm my findings that the video quality is dire. One thing I was disappointed with after using the G9 was that Canon took off the Time Lapse feature. Why???
The CHDK firmware is free and adds very capable and versatile time lapse.

I got this camera new when it first came out . I had to send it back after the first few opening and closing of the auto retractable lens cover . The part that closes over the lens is so close its touching the lens . I sent it back and after a big hassle they replaced the lens at no charge . I told them to make sure this time the closing cap was not contacting the lens . The same thing happened to the replacement lens the cap was scraping very the lens and causing a scratch in the lens in the same exact place . If you look at your lens I will guarantee everyone that has a g10 will have a scratch on the highest part of the lens . They refused to replace it again .

Just bought this camera at a thrift store with a 10mm and an 18.5mm lens for $60. Seems like a nifty little unit, haven't had a chance to really play with it yet. Interesting to see a fairly recent review about this camera, nicely done.

Amazon charged less because they copied the design, and essentially stole the effort of peak design R&D into what features matter in a bag. Something only a large company like amazon could feasibly copycat. Amazon then cheaped out more by using lower quality materials and cheaper production methods to further bring the cost down. High quality products have a cost. Ethical products have a cost.
