I felt my exam today I’ve got a 63 score after studying for a month thank you for the feed and I’m glad you pass I know this video it’s old a few year but I just saw it thank you for taking the time to say this
I took the ACE exam in 2008 and trained for ten years. Had to let it lapse because of life, the universe and everything. I decided to retest with N ASM. Hoping I will pass, but there's a lot of memorization...not my strong suit. We will see!
The shit was hard enough to consider a tutor
Dude... that lady lied to you to make you feel better... on average Im sure she sees 30 test takers per week.multiply that by 5. 2 out of 3 pass, so thats like virtually impossible. Or 1/10000s true. Also i just took the exam after reading the book. The test is worded differently, so what? To me, it was so easy that it bored me
I have a bachelor of science degree in exercise science (2011 Florida State) and am currently working on my masters in ex science and health promotion from CalU. The test was hard for me. I only studied the weekend before (Saturday made flash cards and read through a study guide. Sunday read a couple chapters in the book not covered in my graduate class). I felt dumb coming out of it but I passed. I can see how people with no background in anatomy/ physiology can have a problem with it. The ACSM CPT exam was difficult as well( I took it in 2011) but it was easier than the NaSM one.
Can you retake the exam, or do you have to pay for a whole new course and second try?
I passed the first time and I "don't have medical degree". It's a mystery to me why this poor soul did not feed it was necessary to apply what you know. How would he expect to design and tailor a program to a clients needs? And was he planning on bringing his text into the field?
Thanks for the video, man. I failed mine too. Got a 67. So aggravating to be so close. Hopefully you passed it second try. I’m gonna call and get my retake figured out. Passed them all except basic and applied sciences and program design. Hard not to be frustrated with myself.
Cody Barker I got a 67 tooo😵
So what happens if you fail do you have to pay the full amount again? I heard it's like $600 the first time ?
Its $200 to retake the test
I'm debating between NASM and ACE.. any regrets with going with NASM?
yasmin husain I have no regrets going NASM
I really appreciate your honesty. I was looking up advice on taking the test and yours was the only that was straightforward Failed NASM. There’s some people that say this is a piece of cake test and I find that hard to believe. I’m so scared to take mine that I keep procrastinating and some days just beat myself up because I mess up on the flash cards. Overall though I’m glad you posted this video because at least I’m seeing even in the comments not everyone passes their first time and it’s ok just retest lol
Lauren Jatich how did it go?
I just failed my test i thought i was prepared but my test was nothing like my study guide and all the practice exams it really threw me off.A lot of things they say to look out for on the test wasnt really even on there.
How time between both attempt
vaibhav suryavanshi 2 weeks
I passed mine today!! I read the book completely. Watched all the videos and used the modules. To learn all the muscle I used a website called Anatomy Arcade. After I read the book I took my practice exams and realized what I needed to study up on. Studied. Took last practice exam and then went over the study guide. The test wasn't that bad. There were a few question I was completely stumped on but that's it. Good luck to all on your CPT endeavours!!
YOUR A GREAT HELP MAN!
YOU GOING TO GET IT
Thank you... I passed about 3 weeks after this video
The proper term is TRICKERY! Testing how to trick you up rather than on what you know. www.soyouwanttobeafitnesstrainer.blogspot.com
I passed first try! My method was read the entire book FIRST! I didn’t even try to retain anything just straight read... Then I went back through and and made notes of every key note. Had my own study guide that I would study from, that way I didn’t have to go back through the book. I actually thought I failed when taking the test but passed!
Same
I'm reading the book now and I agree with your method!! I will take the test in 2 months but I know the test will be based on the book$
Thanks I have read the book now I'm going back over the highlights of each chapter.I also have the modules but I made the book my first choice.I should be ready to test by the 1st of march.
Congratulations
Take mine Thursday
Yeah I got alot of questions that I was told weren't going to be a major part
Random but type of sweater is that ..i like it
Lol it is!
resently i paas ace exam
No one passed on their first try...yeah ok.
akvalues I’m just telling what I was told from the location I took my test
I failed @ my first attempt. I’m studying now for the 2nd exam . Yes it’s not easy but what is !!
Did you have to pay an extra $600 for the 2nd exam
thank you for posting this!! i failed the first time by 5 points and my downfall was the nutrition. Ill be retaking it here in a week or so.
Gussie Nielsen same how did u do
I studied mine in a week and passed it
I have failed it twice. The questions are so ridiculous and the practice quizes are nothing like the real test. What do you recommend?
WhoDatHooligan the flash cards are very helpful and that’s what help me pass my second try
Finally passed on my 3rd attempt lol
Did you have to pay to take it the 3rd time? i thought you can only take it 2 times and after that you would have to pay. also what did you do that helped this time ?
Yeah unfortunately. The first time is free but after that you have to pay for re-tests. I just studied the crap out of the material for a year. Take the quizzes over and over. Also check out fitness mentors. They help out a lot!
Omg, if I had a penny for every time i hear "worded differently" or "so much different". It tests comprehension! Study the book, not the vocab, not the flash cards; actually full on read and reread the text. I read the book twice in 3 weekss... Took the test yesterday. The test was actually so easy that i was disappointed and bored.
About how many questions are in each section of the test?
The NASM was a joke when I took it in 2013, maybe its gotten harder since then. the NSCA CPT and CSCS are much harder.
Kevin Mann the ACSM was difficult but I passed it first time I took it in 2011. I found the NaSM to be more difficult when I took it yesterday. Still passed though.
I hate to say it but yeah, I failed it... not once but TWICE. The first time I didn't pass by three points. The questions were confusing and more than once I thought that more than one answer could be correct (don't remember which ones) but overall felt like I needed to study more. I STUDIED THE CRAP OUT OF THAT BOOK. A couple months later I took the exam again and did worse than the first time?! Mega disappointed but definetly disappointed in how they put their exam together as well. Looking for other options currently but still have plans to retake yet again. NASM's second cheapest package that came along with study guides and practices quizzes was a waste of money . My advice, buy the textbook and exam only and use online study guides from people who have taken and passed the exam.
Thank you for your honesty but don't give up. Due to a failed business I moved to Florida and had to start from zero. Bought the $999 program but ended up working over 70 hrs a week to restart my life. Was SO hard studying being that tired. Finally quit one of the jobs and now absorbing info a lot more. Though I've been in the health club business for years, I never got around to fulling learning about training in this detail. Judging from the videos I've been watching and comments I've been reading... I may not pass. However I don't care how many times it takes.. I WILL pass. You should too Aly! * You realize the cleaning formula "409" was named because the first 408 times didn't work? lol You and I are not alone. However WHEN we pass, we'll be more knowledgeable than most because we've had to study so much. Be patient and in the long run, it will be well worth it ($$$). I've done health club sales for most of my life (50 now). So I know that with this NASM certificate behind me (along with my experience), good things are in store. Don't give up and I'll see you at the finish line. Let's GO Aly!
Aly Wallace yup! I did the self study and passed first try!
I hope I pass. Me and my kinesiology classmates just passed all our kines courses. 2 of them took this and failed. I'm kinda worried cause we have anatomy knowledge. But they said the wording was confusing.
I know this comment is old but I just wanted to add my experience because I also had my score drop when I retook the exam. I followed their program back in 2014, read the whole book cover to cover several times, did the practice exams, read the flash cards, I did everything they suggested. I took my final and got a 69 when you need a 70 to pass. No big deal, I paid for the retest and got a 63! Kept studying, read the whole book again, read through all of my notes, took it a 3rd time and got a 59. I contacted nasm to have them look into it in their end to make sure there wasn’t an error somewhere and was told nasm doesn’t have access to the exam info because it’s proctored by a third party. What!? Ended up getting certified by another company and now I have 3 certs that I passed with a 90 or better. Last June I decided to give nasm one more shot since I already invested so much time and money into it, I bought the brand new textbook and started all over again. Read everything cover to cover, took all new notes, etc. Took the exam for the 4th time and got a 53!!! I did get a refund, but I have a hard time believing those scores are accurate. I knew the material. And I kindly asked them to investigate to make sure everything was correct and accurate and was told no. Nasm is definitely up to something fishy. I tell everyone to stay away from them now.
I passed on the first try. I have a medical background so that helped some with anatomy and body function but definitely need to know assessments and which muscles are under or over active. Make sure to learn the phases, sets, reps, rest etc. They are a major part of the test. And yes the wording can be confusing. But this is important so you will know how to correct your clients movements and design programs. Study your ass off basically. I studied for the final for weeks, 2 hours in the morning before work, on my lunch break for an hour, and after dinner. No excuses. You get out what you put in.
Michael Escamilla If you didn't pass in first try.... When repeat second test
Taking mine in 4 weeks, thanks so much for the info...had a feeling the test was going to be a bitch lol...by chance did you do fitness mentors???
Rachel Byers I didn't do fitness mentors
In the updated version of the courses there is no flashcards. They added more practice quizzes. You can also print those practice quizzes and use those as flashcards.
How do I access the flashcards on my guided study?
I'm with you bro. Just failed my test but don't give up. Keep your head up, and keep Trying💪
Did you retake and pass?
FYI, heart rate and stroke volume are not the same thing.
I know that.. poor description of what I was trying to say
I was referring to the question that was on the test as a example
where do I get the flash cards at for the test
Congrats on passing it, I failed mine back in December. I read both the 4th and 5th edition books, went through the self-study program, and took notes, but the exam completely threw me off. I just purchased the retake two weeks ago and I also got the NASM pocket prep app, which so far has been helping a lot because it has 500 exam-style questions, but I still feel like I'm struggling with knowing stuff like the muscle imbalances, assessments, program design, etc. I will definitely give the flash cards a shot, hopefully I'll be ready to retake the exam before next week.
Thank you... With the assessments mainly know what muscles are overactive and under active. I think its page 169 that has nothing but muscle imbalance related info. Good luck I'm sure you will get it this time.
I didn't pass my first try I'm rescheduling mine for next month. hopefully those flash card come in handy. A month should be enough to study some more? Thanks. wish me luck
Hey what flashcarrds?
Under the nasm site go to your courses.. there should be different items there such as exam prep ext.. one of those items will be PDF flash cards. I printed mine off and studied them. I didn't cut them up or make them actual flash cards just read the info bc it's Q & A
Why not go with ACE
That's what I'm doing after failing twice... Most questions try to trick you and are unnecessarily hard. Won't be giving them any more of my money.
A lot of gyms ask you to be NASM cert. the gym I was coaching at was one of them that’s why I went that route.
I passed today!!
I am going to retake my exam in 2 weeks.. is there anything you can help me with in regards to reviewing. Great job on passing!!
Did you pass the second tim?
Yes passed second time and was a lot easier
Kathy Iseri did you have to pay $199 and get another 180 days...im supposed to do mine by june 13th and i feel so unprepared:( i didnt want to have to pay $700 again
Melanie Nelson hello!! I did pass the first time. I would check with the testing center. I had a question once, and they called me right back. You can do it, and don't give up!!
thanks for this! I failed mine too by one question! so retaking tomorrow. definitely need the overhead squat assessment down pat. its ten percent of the test. many of the questions are very confusing. i definitely would take my time and review thoroughly before ending the test the second time. taking it again tomorrow. fingers crossed!
When you say the fitness assessment and program design can you give us an example or the questions or if you remember any of the questions? i take my test in december and have been receiving mixed reviews about what material i should actually spend most of my time focusing on
I do not remember specific questions.. there were a lot on situations with clients. Know your overhead squat assessment for sure because a lot of them are based around it
Thanx! That's helpful. Haven't taken it yet. I just can't believe that lady said no one has passed first time in 5 years. I've been a group fitness instructor for 4 yrs, so I feel I'm already ahead. Let us know if you pass second time & good luck!! You can do it.
Thank you glad the info is helpful!! I did a lot of research on looking to see what the test was over before I took mine so wanted to pay it forward. Good luck on your test!
You passed all of the sections except the client relations and you failed??
Yes! I only failed the client relations but I missed questions in the other categories but passed them
