I remember when we used to stay in Caister in the 80s every year and come into Yarmouth. Regent Road wasn't pedestrianised then, and there used to be a department store about halfway up on the left hand side. They had a counter just after you go in selling jokes and tricks - me and my mates had a field day buying stuff to take home 😂

Brings back a lot of memories of holidays in Yarmouth. I remember the Windmill being a cinema showing Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom. I have a soft spot for the town.

Stayed at elm beach in 2002/3 caravan number 10 on the front row the sand didn't come up as far as it is now it was well back looks like the sand dunes have gone aswell. We used to holiday at sundowner holiday park at Newport near hemsby in chalets bloody brilliant. Malcolm and Sheila from Workington in Cumbria up north.

Not been there since 1985, went every year for 2 weeks for 10 years when i was a kid.

Good to see the seafront photographer of which I was one! Happy days and a bustling Gt Yarmouth in summer.

Great memories. Used to go to the Caister holiday camp every year from 1981 to 1987 with family and mates. One year me and a girl I met there walked along the beach path from the holiday camp into Great Yarmouth. We walked back the long way past the racecourse and the old North Denes airfield. 😊

I lived next to Wally windmill move from wales 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿 had some fun times there when I was a kid day and night . We used to leave the fire exit open a little bit to go In At night lol

Love great Yarmouth I go there every summer since my parents own a chalet I stay in hemsby

I was born in Norwich in 1945; the family moved to Great Yarmouth in 1956, thereabouts, as my father took the position of superintendent at the power station. That’s right, that tall chimney in these pictures ( 365 feet tall he told me ) , somewhat of an eyesore, it worked well for many years. Until the new gas fired station was built, still there,. Anyway now I’m 79 living in Vancouver Canada since 1964, thank you these pictures bring back fond memories . 🥹🥹👍👍
