It's Puzzling That We Still Don’t Know How Airplanes Fly!
Watching a plane take off is truly amazing, but the secret is that we don’t fully understand how airplanes fly. While the Navier-Stokes equations theoretically describe the motion of fluids like air and can explain lift, solving them is exceptionally difficult. This difficulty is so profound that in 2000, the Clay Mathematics Institute offered a $1 million prize for solving these equations, as part of their 7 Millennium Problems**.
[
**1. Existence of Solutions: Do smooth (continuously differentiable) solutions to the Navier-Stokes equations exist for all time, given smooth initial conditions? - smooth (without singularities or infinite values, such as a velocity blowing up to infinity)

Two Magnetic Outliers of the Solar System: Venus and Mars
Просмотров 122 часа назад
Magnetic fields are a crucial component of planetary environments, protecting planets from solar winds and cosmic radiation. Earth benefits from a robust magnetic field generated by the motion of molten iron and nickel in its outer core. However, Venus and Mars are unique in our solar system for lacking global magnetic fields, providing valuable insights into their atmospheric evolution and env...
A Milky Way Slideshow
Просмотров 272 часа назад
On a quiet night, far from the city lights, the sky unfolds like a delicate tapestry. Stretching across the darkness, the Milky Way appears-a soft, luminous band that seems both impossibly distant and intimately close. This is our galaxy, a home so vast that its true scale defies easy comprehension. Spanning 100,000 light-years in diameter, the Milky Way is a spiral of remarkable complexity and...
An Equation So Elegant, You Can’t Help But Love It
Просмотров 952 часа назад
Euler's identity, e^iπ 1=0, is widely regarded as one of the most elegant and profound equations in mathematics. This seemingly simple equation combines five of the most important numbers in mathematics-e,i,π,1, and 0-in a single, breathtaking formula. The number e, approximately equal to 2.71828, is the base of the natural logarithm. The imaginary unit, i, is defined by the property that i=sqr...
Where the Sky Ends and Space Begins: Kármán Line
Просмотров 182 часа назад
The boundary between Earth and space has long been a subject of fascination and debate, both within scientific communities and popular imagination. While space may appear as an endless void stretching infinitely above us, determining where it begins is not straightforward. Among various definitions, the Kármán Line stands out as a widely recognized boundary. Defined at an altitude of 100 kilome...
Top 10 Largest Volcanic Eruptions in History
Просмотров 7014 часов назад
The top 10 largest volcanic eruptions in Earth's history are often measured by their explosive power, the volume of materials ejected, and their lasting effects on the planet. These eruptions can dramatically shape landscapes, influence climate, and sometimes even threaten global ecosystems. Here’s a list of some of the most significant volcanic eruptions: 1. Toba (Indonesia, 74,000 years ago)T...
Why Scratching an Itch Feels So Good
Просмотров 2814 часов назад
Scratching an itch is one of the most satisfying and universally understood actions. When your skin itches, the natural reaction is to scratch, and the relief that follows feels almost magical. But why does it feel so good to scratch an itchy spot? The answer lies in a fascinating interplay between your nervous system, brain, and the physical sensations that scratching creates. When you scratch...
Wings: A Revolution in Evolution
Просмотров 31014 часов назад
The emergence of wings stands as one of the most transformative innovations in evolutionary history, reshaping ecosystems and enabling unparalleled survival strategies. By allowing flight, wings unlocked new possibilities for accessing food, avoiding predators, and colonizing diverse habitats, driving the diversification of life on Earth. Wings likely evolved from modified appendages, serving i...
Which came first, the chicken or the egg?
Просмотров 11014 часов назад
Which came first, the chicken or the egg? The answer is: the egg came first. Scientists believe this because the first true chicken began its life inside an egg. Eggs are where small changes, called genetic mutations, happen. These mutations are what allow species to evolve over time. In the case of chickens, this means the first true chicken started its journey within an egg laid by its almost...
Dragonflies Boast a 95% Hunting Success Rate, Topping the Animal Kingdom
Просмотров 149День назад
Among all predators in the animal kingdom, the dragonfly stands out with a hunting success rate that reaches an extraordinary 95%. This remarkable efficiency stems from a combination of evolutionary adaptations that make it a master of aerial predation, showcasing nature's ingenuity in crafting specialized hunters. Dragonflies possess exceptional flight capabilities, allowing them to move in vi...
How Our Desk Feels Solid, Even Though It's Mostly Empty at the Atomic Level
Просмотров 2 тыс.День назад
Have you ever wondered how your desk can feel solid, even though it's made up of atoms that are mostly empty? It’s a mind-boggling concept that challenges our everyday understanding of what "solid" really means. Atoms, the tiny building blocks of everything around us, are surprisingly empty. Even though they make up all the solid objects we see and touch, their structure is mostly vast, open sp...

Lakes are often seen as tranquil and serene, but some defy expectations with their eerie and unusual qualities. From toxic waters to submerged forests and even lakes hidden beneath ice, these bodies of water challenge our perceptions of what nature can create. Some of the most bizarre lakes in the world include Jellyfish Lake, Spotted Lake, Laguna Colorada, Lake Natron, Lake Vostok, Lake Kaindy...
Within Seconds at Most: From Massive Star to Neutron Star or Black Hole
Просмотров 824День назад
The time it takes for a dying star to collapse into a neutron star or black hole is one of the most misunderstood aspects of stellar death. Many assume that such a profound transformation unfolds over days, years, or even centuries. The reality, however, is astonishing: the process occurs almost instantaneously, taking mere milliseconds to seconds. This rapid transformation vastly outpaces the ...
The Pursuit of Good Enough, Not Perfection (Part 2: Humans)
Просмотров 1221 день назад
In Part 1 of this series, we explored how animals demonstrate the compromises of evolution, adapting to survive in specific niches despite inherent flaws. In this second part, we turn our attention to human anatomy, revealing how our own bodies are shaped by the constraints and imperfections of evolution. These examples highlight that humans are not exempt from evolution’s tendency to prioritiz...
The Extremely Large Telescope (ELT)

The pursuit of understanding the universe has driven humanity to construct increasingly powerful telescopes, pushing the boundaries of observation. Among these, the Extremely Large Telescope (ELT), being built in Chile's Atacama Desert, is the most ambitious optical and infrared telescope ever conceived. With its 39-meter segmented primary mirror, the largest of its kind, the ELT will gather mo...

Probably because of the electric field propagating from our matter and the matter that makes up the table the electric charges repel ?

I will explain these behaviors in videos soon. Until then, think about a large group of of atoms compressing one atom. It would become part of the group. I doubt that the nuclei remain outside of the electron shells. Another important point is that, just because there may be no "thing" between a nucleus and its electron shells, it doesn't mean that there is nothing there! How do you understand what the interior of an atom looks like? Stop picturing the protons and neutrons as little plastic balls.
