“And that was the end of aviation here in Essex County” Except, Plum Island airport went on to be owned and operated by Burgess for years, then through its own storied history and still operates as one of the first and oldest operating airfields in all of America

I understand that the Men of Marblehead at the time o the American Revolution were a remarkable breed, known for their courage, toughness, and unwavering commitment to freedom. Will the museum include an exhibit to the character of these men?

A few comments about Lucy and her adopted mother. When was Lucy adopted? She was born in 1829 and was listed in Lucretia's will as her adopted daughter in 1844. Lucy was 15. Was Lucy ever Lucy's adopted father or did the adoption take place after Joseph's death? Lucy was nineteen when she assisted Lucretia with her pension request. "Aunt Creesie" may not have been a derogatory name. Lucretia was after all Lucy's grand aunt. Could that have been a cute childhood pronunciation of Lucretia? Lucy was not only literate; I envy her beautiful signature!

Excellent historical presentation! Provides many new facts about Lucretia and Joseph Brown family. Greatly appreciate all the efforts the Marblehead Museum staff made on this . I urge anyone who hasn't seen this to invest the hour to view this and better understand how two extraordinary African American citizens did marvelous things and earned the highest respect of their peers during a very different historical context.
