@@TheLoamMountaineer hell yea 🤘
The only thing with changing the chain wheel yeah it’ll give you more top end, but it could put you in a weird place with the gear ratios with your cassette. I’ve changed chain wheels up and down to get the bike where I’m comfortable on trails cause you may wind up being in the middle of a ratio where you pedal too fast cause there’s not enough load but if you up shift now it’s too much of a load and it’s not comfortable compared it the way it was with the other chain wheel.
Yes agreed! In this case we are replacing a crankset and chain ring with newer parts that are the the same spec but newer/different brand. We've always had a 38 tooth on this bike and the reason behind it is because 99% of the time she is in the highest gear. That's because this is her rail trail bike and our local rail trail is dead flat. So for this bike, top end speed is all we care about. Good thing to note though, that info is very helpful for most situations! 🤙
Stan’s tape is also trash . I had a new wheel and cleaned it with alcohol and had it spotless completely dry and did a perfect tape job and it would not hold air for more then 24 hours . Did a retape with gorilla tape and my wheels hold air for a few months now
@@colincochrane5242 that’s strange. It’s been a while but we’ve always used Stan’s tape with no issues. Maybe it was a bad roll or something! Glad to hear you got it sorted out though. Thanks for the comment and thanks for watching! 🤙
Those bars 😐
@@colincochrane5242 yes, we know. They are not for everyone. 🙃
@@NickandKatieMTB what kind of bars are they? They look like they might be comfortable on a gravel trail/rails to trails kind of thing
@@theshedMTB they are Answer 2020 bars. And you’re right! That’s exactly what Katie uses this bike for!
Installing a new bottom bracket and crankset on Katie's Foundry Broadaxe gravel bike. 🔧 But why? A few months ago Katie's Hollowtech II crankset failed. One crank arm fell completely off while riding and Katie ended up taking a pretty gnarly spill. Luckily she came away from the accident with only a few bruises. But when trying to replace her cranks, we found out the other crank arm and spindle were seized to the bottom bracket. After weeks of struggling we finally freed the crankset! But it totally destroyed the bottom bracket. So new SRAM DUB Pressfit BB and new SRAM GX Eagle crankset for Katie's Foundry. Now she can go fast. 💨
Not a big fan of the press but it is what is! Threaded is certainly my go to 🤙🏻
Totally agree! Thanks for the comment and thanks for watching! 🤘
Only issue is unfortunately no going around if you don’t have the new udh already on the triangle which is my case 19 trek fuel ex8 would love the T type trans but like so many other the X01 series is what we have plus or minus the axs .. no way I’m buying a new bike for that ..😂 what a monopoly sram made

What are your thoughts on Press Fit Bottom Brackets? 🤔
My forks are moving around and aren’t staying still in the head tube. It’s a 27.5 fork on a 27.5 bike
It’s hard to diagnose without seeing it but it could be a few things! My first thought is making sure the headset is compressed properly. Loosen the stem bolts first and then tighten the top cap bolt and then retighten the stem bolts. There are a bunch of videos online and forums that can help with specifics on this. Hope this helps!
Search loose headset on RUclips and there should be some helpful videos.
@@NickandKatieMTB thanks for the help. It’s 100% just the fact my forks aren’t cut and I haven’t put a starnut in!

Honestly, the older I get the more I enjoy a nice smooth medium sized jump trail. Blue, blue/black or small black. I don’t need to hit double black jump trails anymore. I like to turn my brain off and just float on down.
@@MattBuck777 absolutely. No better feeling than just flowing down a mellow jump trail.

Jibbing has always meant little playful hits or fun tricks usually as side hit of the trail as opposed to a feature hit. At least that is what it has always meant to me from the time I started snowboarding and the term just kinda stuck with me since.
@@PuffinPass that’s a great way to explain it. That’s what I was getting at with the Xgames bit. Jibs aren’t done on the big purpose built features, but rather on random spots that weren’t intended to be ridden. Thanks for the comment 🤝
Full Calisthenic Push Day Routine 👇 3 Sets of Ring Dips (5-10 rep range) 3 Sets of Ring Pushups (10-15 rep range) 3 Sets (Each Arm) One Arm Tricep Pushdowns (10-15 rep range) 3 Sets Dumbell Lateral Raises (15-25 rep range) I like to rest for at least 3 minutes between each set of the compound movements (dips and pushups). I take every set to failure. I also do myo rep match sometimes for high volume exercises. Heavy focus on quality over quantity (super slow and steady on the eccentric). This is an oversimplified version of what I do. I have weird little tricks and I tweak little things from time to time if I’m not progressing. I do one push session and one pull session per week. (see my page for my pull day workout) I don’t have a dedicated leg day. I just bike, run and hike. I also do some stretching, core and mobility work from time to time to stay athletic. This protocol allows me to maintain a decent physique year round and allows me to stay consistent because it doesn’t take up all of my time. I built this pull up bar in my backyard and have acquired a few additional pieces of equipment/weights over time. Highly suggest these Double Circle Gym Rings. What happens if rear wheel grabs if not applying brakes when trying to free spin after replacing and spreading pads ?

Does a Quiver Killer really exist? 🤔 Riders will own a Quiver for 2 reasons: Disciplines and Conditions. Disciplines are subcategories in any given sport. Take a bmx bike designed for riding street and compare it to a bmx bike designed for racing. To an outsider they may look the same. But to a high level rider, those are two totally different bikes. In addition to that, various terrain or environmental factors play a role in what rig an athlete will select on any given day. This is particularly true for the super outdoorsy action sports where the climate and landscape plays a larger role. So if a Quiver is a collection of specialized rigs… what’s a Quiver Killer? A Quiver Killer, KILLS the need for a Quiver. It’s a single rig capable of handling all disciplines and conditions. But is there such a thing as a perfect do-it-all rig? If you are trying to compete at the highest level, no. The smallest immeasurable changes may cost you when trying to keep up with the best of the best. But for those of us just trying to have fun one is probably enough, and there’s a lot of upside to owning just one. Less maintenance, less money to spend on buying all of these rigs, and it’s more minimalist as well. Now do I own just one bike? Of course not. But I do own only two. One is hyper specialized for my favorite style of riding which I do 50% of the time and the other one is a quiver killer that can sort of do everything. Do you own a quiver killer? Or a whole quiver? Do you think there is such thing as a quiver killer? Let me know down in the comments. I was hoping you did one at a time. First the front then both. I’m on the fence about updating the rear to a 203mm.
