Ive never seen or known anybody to add an emulsifier and cetyl alchol to their mix but not using heated distilled water or aloe vera. Can you help me understand this please? 🤮

Idc what anyone says about silicones it gives me that little extra shine and slip nothing else can. only thing I’ve noticed with it is needing to wash your scalp real good or it’ll itch but that’s really with anything

Can I use stearic acid instead of the alcohol?

Adding polysorbate 20 can help in washing off all the oiliness from your 2nd formula. If you're not into polysorbate, there is another alternative that doesn't carry any health risk. You can try Caprol PGE-560. I find it's a perfect dupe for polysorbate.

Try again with BTMS and your beater or stick blender.

Look at the tree hut ingredient list. The magic ingredient for them is silica. If you stick with what you came up with, add more sugar if you want it a little stiffer. You did a great job, thank you!

Maybe using the refined butter is better but you'll probably need more butter over oil since the texture is looser

If refined or unrefined shay is grainy at some point the 'butter' had melted. It's a good idea to test a small sample before starting for graininess. If heating shay, don't let it cool at room temp or it will become grainy. Use the refrigerator or freezer to flash cool to prevent grain from forming.
