My ride through Malibu canyon on the Goldwing
Just curious. What kind of open face helmet are you wearing in tis video?
What happened to you? Would like to hear how the trip went.
I’ve been considering a new 2023 Goldwing. It’s between that and the K 1600 GTL… anyway, I feel like I pack light, and I wasn’t able to imagine taking my stuff with me on the bike. It’s shocking how much you can fit in there. This is making that buying trigger pull a bit lighter. I like the bagger look for the Goldwing, and that’s the main issue. It takes 2-3 minutes to pop the BMW’s trunk on and off. Honda says it’s a 7 hour job to install. Having the option to have the extra storage if it’s needed and not when it isn’t would be perfect.
That looks like a fun road.
I would extend toolkit. Spare oil filter, 1/4” drive sockets, gorilla tape, zip ties etc. There are some good suggestions on the forums. My tank bag has been handy for map, flashlight, coins and my wife’s G26.
I ride a 2008 Goldwing, in Sept. 2017 rode out west, starting out from Ohio, rode 6000 miles on a 3 week trip. IMHO...THE Goldwing is an amazing bike. The most comfortable, long distance bike ever made...I'm a little bias, sorry. You get some good highway pegs down low, some good rock n roll on the satellite stereo, set the cruise on 75 and watch the miles tick off. Did I say the GW is an amazing bike. A little commentary on your videos would be nice, what towns you're riding through, maybe the routes, etc. Ride safe
Great channel. Awesome content. How can I get a copy of your packing list you used on your 31day trip across the US? Really enjoy your videos!!! Thank you for your service!
I am impressed and pressed impressed pop
Semper Fi. It seems we have learned how to pack for SHTF. 😁
Nice ride! Great tunes
I saved this video 4 months ago when I bought my Wing. I am planning some trips in the spring and was going to ask for a copy of your list but I do not see an email address unless I missed it somewhere. Is this list still available? Thank you….(Rob) EDIT: Disregard sir. I see your reply to G Randy Brown. I will use that address
Great Video, No tire repair kit or pump?
Great video, well thought out. Any chance you can just link or post the packing list here? Would be great to cross reference it with the one I've been building for a while as well!
Saving this video. I’m an atrocious packer
I am a long time Harley guy. I have had six and currently ride an Electra Glide. I love it BUT I also picked up a slightly used GoldWing GL1800 with 26k miles (not quite broken in for a GoldWing)….and man-o-man is the GW a sweet bike!
I'm an old guy that just started riding again after 27 years and hoping to take a ride from southern New Nexico to Portland,OR to see my grandkids and kids (collecting camera/ drone footage etc along the way) ... this vid has nudged me a little closer to actually following thru sometime in August and I'd very much like to have a copy of your packing list but I can't find the address...did I just overlook it?
Good stuff.. Rife safe. Email me. Deaniii@aol.com I'm happy to send it.
Great ride 👍 like the camera angles 😎
I love St. George! Gorgeous place. Did ya stop in Beaver and get some "squeaky cheese" and an "I Love Beaver" sticker? The Jalapeno cheese curd is the best! Salsa is a close second.
The wife and I stayed at that hotel! Watch out for scorpions!
I didn't. I was kinda rushed for time. I was trying to make it to Sturgis.
@@HowWeGoldwing bummer
After 45 years of riding Gold Wings around North America, I to have a list. In my opinion, you must be a clotheshorse. Never seen so much wearables for a long trek. Also, need a small portable air pump and tubeless tire repair kit. Never needed it until a couple years ago, so be prepared. Hope the trip was good.
Yeah, I tend to over pack. In reality I could have halved the amount of clothing I packed for that trip. I'm not patching tires tho.
I have found that a great many areas of the states have absolute rubbish for cell phone coverage, so I like to be able to get to civilization for professional service, and the only way, if you have a flat in a remote area is to plug the puncture and put air in. Not hard to do at all. Try looking at something like Dyna Plug, and a small pump that runs off your bike battery. In my years, I have had two flats, one from a nail, and one from an idiot in the motorcycle shop that installed a new tire, with tube, and it felt unbalanced, and when I went out for a test ride it went flat, and I could hear something sliding in the tire itself, rear tire. Turned out he had left one of his tire irons in the new tire. Anyway, can’t wait for the border to open so we can travel down to the states again.
I enjoyed the video, could you please email me the list. Thank you. C1673@msn.com
Great trip planning review. Really appreciate it. Funny. Whiskey amd cigars paired with the work out gloves.. lol. That said, I'm looking at the 21 wing. May like to do some camping off and on. Are there any channels you know that are good sources for that kind of thing?
Yes.. Check out Zoe on As the Magpie Flies. If you're planning any sort of off road or camping while riding, check her out.

Just found your channel---good riding! New sub!
I appreciate the follow!!
Just bought a 2018 Gold Wing non-tour 6 speed....love it! I live 7 hours north of Vegas...thanks for the ride along--new sub!
Very interesting. Love the checklist- I rely on them for every adventure and check it off over a few days or a week. Great vid, very insightful and thank you!
Lol that’s the desoto on ramp for the 118
Yes it is!!!
Where do you get that Bento box?
I'm sure my wife found it on Amazon.
I know this off the subject but did I see $4.99 for gas at the shell gas station that is ridiculous even for a motorcycle
California is expensive!!
@@HowWeGoldwing well I guess I need to appreciate $3.00 a gallon here in philly I was complaining about that 🤑🤑
🤣
,,,it would be nice to hear the 1800 instead of the music at times!!!,,great video!
I'll revisit and see if the bike can be heard.
I'll be posting another video this Saturday. There will be a point near the middle of the video where I turned the music off so you can hear.
@@HowWeGoldwing ,,great,,the 1800 has a most unique sound,,,and once ridden you never forget it!!! jmo,,,,keep those videos coming with a few minutes of raw sound included,,thanks!!
your video is superb, I would have liked to hear the sound of the goldwing ;-)
Thanks so much!!
Nice video, but what happened to all the other days?
I'm way behind.. will upload either Nebraska to Iowa or my ride into Sturgis this weekend..
VERY USEFULL INFORMATION, COULD YOU SEND ME YOUR LIST PLEASE? luisherbast@gmail.com THANKS A LOT!!!
I think I sent. Let me know if I skipped ya.
You are providing inspiration! Waiting for day 2....
Really enjoy your videos. Keep them coming please! This was really helpful. I’d very much appreciate a copy of your list please. Two is one, one is none. Cheers. ncgtrrider@gmail.com Neil, Philly, PA.
Just curious, what year is your Wing? I have the 2019 and I know both my old 2006 and 2012 had a lot mor room in the trunk and saddlebags. Nice job man
2013
That was cool!
My favorite time to ride is the predawn hours. I just enjoyed the whole video while drinking my morning coffee. I do most my rides as a solo rider with no time schedule but my own. Thank you for posting this video. God bless.
Bingo.
I always take off around 4am when ever I do my long distance rides. In the right time of year, the temperature is perfect, the air is still and you're watching the sun rise. Man, it doesn't get much better than that.
Same here. I find a lot of peace of mind in the early morning hours on my bike whether it’s my Harley or my Wing. Makes no difference emotionally……
Thanks for the ideas👍
How do you like the HWK jacket?,,,,is it the mesh jacket?
It is.. I like it alot. Perfect for southern California riding.
How do u keep your go pros powered? My battery on my helmet mount only videos for like 40 max and then it’s done .
I charge batteries in saddlebag USB port or 12V power point located clutch side on my Wing.
I dont keep them running all day long. I turn them on and off during the ride. Charge them up at the next stop. Every once in a while one will die. For the sony, I have extra batteries.
Hi great video and well organized, can you send me a copy to tvdbreek61@hotmail.com. Grtz from the Netherlands
Wow! That’s a lot of stuff, well organized! You’re very through! I’d love a list of that stuff. Email me: unclemikemf@aol.com Thanks liked👍. NY Mike
Nice video! Nice scenery! Love it! Gave it 👍 NY Mike...
Thanks so much!!
Enjoyed your video. Thanks for sharing. 🇺🇸
Much appreciated.
Thanks for the practical information. I will be heading out for an extended trip pretty soon. I would appreciate it if you email me a copy of your packing list. Any suggestions on reservations and clubs to meet along the way. Thank you. Steve (renonv1122@gmail.com)
My suggestion is the less planning you do the better. Even though I know better, I still tend to over plan and regret it later. I'm a solo rider so I generally don't look to meet up with clubs etc.
Great video.
Semper Fi Brother.
Semper Fi.
great footage of your trip! What camera set up do you have on your helmet?
Im using a 4k Sony FDR-X3000
Hi very good information. I can’t find your email in order asking for your packing list.
