It would be interesting to compare the benefits of this to the slight inspiratory resistance of wearing various covid masks, early on and one saturated with humidity. While it makes intuitive sense, is there research which shows a benefit to using this? In terms of this device, is there any risk of barotrauma, scarring, or fibrosis to any scale of the pulmonary system? Are there any contraindications? Beyond our mid-twenties, our lung capacities tend to decline with age. Could this device slow (or reverse) that trend better than cardiovascular exercise? It would be wise for higher risk individuals check with their provider.

As far as i understand it it does not help your lungs but it maximizes the use of the lungs you do have. Imagine a balloon and a pump. This device strengthens the pump. The device strengthens the muscles that pull open your lungs which creates a vacuum which draws the air in. Your lungs will be more fully pulled open thus allowing more air in. Your lung capacity or efficiency is not changed but more air will be drawn in each time
