Can u do mee a favour..git mee a permit fir that river..
And there was me expecting you to land a spaniel. Too much guinness or was it such a battle?
That is one beautiful place 😢 quiet, alone just peaceful 👍
Ireland 🇮🇪 forever!!!!
I bet your Guinness was magic that evening. 🎉🇫🇷🇫🇷
That’s an incredible catch
Respect 👍
An angling achievement, the drags a little bit sticky. Well done
Brilliantly fishing 🎣 net I never seen like that before ⚖️ beautiful big boy fish 🐟 I don’t know 🤷 why you not keep it
He done right to put it back, unless you can't afford to eat then return the fish. There are people out there that are raping Irish waters and keeping everything they catch.
Nice fish!
Brilliant video, I was there with you, loved the phone call for help. Thank you for sharing it with us all.
Some fish Think the net was thought about too early mate What river where you on 😊
My heart was pounding, every fisherman knows that feeling.
Thought it was much more expensive. Great video6 and great catch. All the Best 😊😊
Sounds like you having intercourse. Yeah, cheers for showing us the fish, your camera work sucks!
How much for 1/2 Day on this pool ? Great catch anyway 😊
Full day €35
cracking fish that
Learned about a new fish today and where the soap Irish Springs comes from lol thanks for the video.
Brilliant fish, many congrats. Good to see Britsh made Bruce and Walker rod being put to good use. I do, however, hate to see someone struggling to get a net ready whilst they have a fish on, as it is so easy to lose fish when this happens. I wish they still made the extra large Whitlock salmon fold over net with extending handle, as fold overs are far easier to deploy.
Very poor fish care !, letting it smash itself on rocks when there is grass 1 meter away
Hell of a Salmon. That's what we call a fighting fish. Would cost you a buck in Holland, smoked and well.
This is just brilliant ! 😂👏👏👏👌🎣👊🦈🙌 Deadly !! 😂😂 ...
Catch and release seems to be working on the river in recent seasons. Well done. Haven't seen a fish of that quality coming out of there since the early '70's
This is the size of my biggest Salmon 24.5lbs i Lost it one day, i was using my 15ft double handed rod and it snapped my leader after 20 minutes, next day I was fishing for Sea trout in the 9ft rod with a 6lb leader and I caught the 24.5lb Salmon 45 min fight as it was the lighter gear! Got my leader and fly back from the day before lol Thanks for sharing great video
I was kinda thinking “springer” spaniel for a minute there! 😳😂
Well done catching the fish of a lifetime and getting it all on film! I was wondering if you actually felt the take or if you just started stripping line at the same time as the fish took the fly? From our viewers' perspective it looks like it was a soft sneaky take which probably went unnoticed until you began to strip. Congrats!!
I was about to retrieve and it felt like somone pushed the rod butt. I actually thought it was my buddy.🤣🤣
Nice fish buddy! ✌️🇨🇦
new sub good stuff
Sometimes only one word (that word) will do!😂
Epic Struggle. Marvellous stuff.
Great fight 👍💪🦾
God, what a meal
Hats off to ye brother. What had ye on the end of er?
Frodin Willie Gunn.
I just can't understand how you don't prepare your landing net beforehand. I see this in so many YT videos. This is simply the elementary school of fishing. Still, good video. I liked.

Amazing buddy
Well done great fish
From Canada. Never heard of a springer. It sorta looks like a Brown trout we have here.
It's an Atlantic Salmon. Caught during a springtime run.
Yes, and we do have them here, Ontario, Quebec and the east coast.
Marvellous commentary, I dont know what weight he is but he's fecking big, cracking fish well done fella
6:21 Agreed, great commentary…and the ‘phone a friend’ twist made it even better
Nice fookin’ fish there, Simon!!
What was stopping you from getting the fish onto the grass to weigh it....much less chance of damaging it.
I thought a dog was gonna come out of the water...
So nice to see a video showing the rod and rot tip in action. Most fishing videos only show the reel and hands reeling and the rod does not the most important part of fighting a fish.
Glad you enjoyed it
This is what it's all about!! FISH ON !!! :)
That is the most calm and nice 24 pounder i have ever seen in my life, it did absolutely nothing what so ever, just dropped with the current a few times without a single run. Did you pour sedatives in the water before you started fishing?
He wasn't let run. I was using serious heavy gear stuff I use for big Baltics.
@@Simonc262 I live in Norway and i have landed 2997 Atlantic salmon with the largest at 54.6 pounds and trust me when i say you cant hold a 24 pounder if it wants to run. It didnt even try to run and as i said it did absolutely nothing.... Extremely calm and nice fish indeed.
2997 Wow,thats almost 300 fish a year for 10 years or 100 fish a year for 30 years. 54.6lb wow .I must start counting my fish.Theres a thing called a clutch on my reel when you tighten it it makesit harder for the fish to make that clicking noise when he runs. You should try get a reel with one of them.
@@Simonc262 You are forgetting something, an Atlantic is a fair bit stronger than the baltic and if that fish WANTED to run there would be NOTHING, you could do. I am 6'3 and 220 pounds and i dont play with the fish but there is a HUGE diff between a fish that turns and give it the beans and a fish angling a little on the current and letting the current take it some meters downstream like that one did. I have seen 15 pounders flatten a 16 feet 12 rod stripping 200 meter of line in one single run many times and you cant stop them. Not going to happen. I have also landed a 32 pounder in 3 min so it all depends on how the fish behave and if you hook an angry one that just turn and burn downstream i promose you it wont care about your heavy gear for baltics for ONE sec. I doubt it beats a 16 feet 12 weight anyway..
@@Simonc262 Oh yes i forgot to mention that i have been fishng salmon for 49 years.
Nice real nice.
Amazing, well done
Wow what an amazing specimen of a fish and full respect to you for the fish welfare and safe release 👍👍
Thank you
What a fish, well done. Absolute bruiser 👍🎣👏
