Some of my ancestors came over from Scotland to what became Maryland in 1634. One of my late wife's (we were from Tennessee) favorite songs was Dixie. At her funeral Dixie was slowly and softly played by our parish organist (who is a wonderful Yankee from New York) as Shirley's casket was brought up the aisle of our local Virginia Roman Catholic Church. Always be grateful to our parish priest and parish organist for honoring request to have Dixie as part of funeral service/Mass. Dixie forever!

Reminds of my hike through the cotswolds wirh it's fantastic scenery. If there is a God then surely it inspires one to believe it might well be so.

Beautifully sung...a favourite at my boarding school..

I first heard this song many years ago sung by a solo singer and it didn't impinge on me at all. The next time I heard it was with a 60 piece choir and it made a lasting impression on me. The part that really got me was at 1min 33 secs shown in your video when the choir suddenly goes up an octave. Ming blowing! 11033

My Dad sang in the choir in St George's presbyterian church in East London. I so clearly remember this wonderful anthem. He was a bass baritone and I used to sing his part....i must've been about 8!!!

This is a splendid poem written by Dublin poet Katherine Tynan.. Adapted as a hymn..

Both lyricist and composer are exceptional. I have used this number with all my church choirs and community choruses .Greetings from New England USA

Discrimination against this song is ridiculous. The South is culturally and visually beautiful. Get over it.

I also attended St Andew's Hall many times as a child with my Dad & siblings. Such wonderful childhood memories. I am still a practicing Christian.❤
