Hooked On Hauraki
Новая Зеландия
Добавлен 9 апр 2019
This channel is all about two fishing mates fishing the Hauraki Gulf. We decided to record our fishing adventures on video and hopefully help any other fisho's out there that are interested. We will gradually add other videos showing all sorts of associated topics. John and Mark are our names and we have been fishing the Hauraki for the last decade or so.

Awesome
It's nice when they come out like that. Well done mate.
Thanks so much for showing and sharing your latest!
Great day out
Good fishing mate
Workups are still way out wide. Jellicoe Channel, Craddock Channel, towards the entrance of Tryphena etc. Was out last week and thats where we found them. PS: Funny, just seen Hayden in your video. We both left GH and they followed us out to NE of Anchorite. Then we headed further towards craddock and then found the huge workups south at Tryphena! He went towards Kawau to have a dive and didnt see anything. 😀
Cheers
I thought you were going to release the big one? 😢
Skipper rules.
It was a perfect keeping size! What a stupid comment 💯
I've been skunked the last couple times I have been out softbaiting, but sounds like berley and bait is doing the job for others. Just can't bring myself to join them...
👌 wow very cool
What’s that box you put the fish in and were did you get it?
Unfortunately it is not made anymore, It is a great size. Bunnings or the warehouse. have something similiar, as showen on Simons boat.
Have you thought of putting some more backing on your overhead reel? It would improve the line retrieval rate.
Good idea. Just have forgot to. Will do soon and maybe reverse the line as well.
Where abouts did you guys launch your boat from
Gulf harbour-during the week
Love winter fishing
Great video thanks. You would drift better if you attached your handbrake to the bow, and drifted side on , as per pauls video. If i may say so
Nice day out on the Gulf Love it. Some good fish there winter fishing is great on a good boat certainly the fish are nice and fat.
We had the same experience close to kawau - dolphins working - gannets not interested and very few snapper ! Weird
I was out on the 18th when the fog rolled in. Caught a 10lb snapper in the shallows around wellington reef whilst softbaiting. Heaps of kahawai about too.
My theory on foul hooking winter fish is they do come over for a look, but not a bite and sometimes the moving lure hooks them
I am gonna have a go with those resistance bands instead of swimcap! nice video!
My favourite line: "The wind is reasonably strong, its probably 10 at least" HAHAH - Every time I leave from Tindalls if I am lucky to get out - I would love to have these conditions! Great content boys!
what model of buccaneer is this?
Excess 565
Nice work guys - fun day out on the boat.
Hadir nyimak keseruan nya bro
yep, as I said in your last video fish are all in close. Big kahawai boil ups straight off Army the last couple of weeks so Launching Stanmore is a very short trip! 👍
Thanks for your updates
You are back in the Buccaneer? Was the other boat (Ali with a Mercury) just temporary?
No, my mate Simon has that boat. We will be using it again soon once he recovers.
well done good to see the light rod bending!
My home town❤
My home town❤
The bigger fish are in closer, in the 10 to 15 meter mark. You dont need to head out to the middle ground this time of year.
Best wishes for op recovery Simon. Thanks guys, really appreciate Intel from Hooked on Hauraki video. cheers
Good on ya mate go get em 3:17
Hi Dear, I like your videos very much. As a RUclips expert, I analyzed that your RUclips video is not getting proper views and subscribers. The reason is that, video isn't SEO completed, no low competitive and ranked tag used & didn't optimize the channel with white-hate SEO. If these issues are resolved, then your RUclips video views will increase. Do you know RUclips algorithm which channel prefer and increase their video impression & search result first?
Popped out to Shearer's on Wednesday arvo/night - swarms of Kingfish. Sadly only had light gear so got embarrassed by them but it was quite surreal. Based in Manly myself - keep an eye out of Beebumble on the water. Cheers.
Always fish workups, do your drags up a bit. Just fish one rod each, and use ocean angler benders and decent overhead reels. Fish your rod by dropping it and slow winding a metre a second
Mint weather ay!!! Thanks for sharing with us..
loved the vid man super awesome, bit late sorry <3
How heavy were ur jigs?
smaller ones 60grms, but we mainly use 80-100grms as you have to get to the bottom. Heavier if conditions make it hard to reach the bottom.Throwing ahead of your drift is important in order to give you max time on the sea bed.
Glory drags
I'm anticipating Our currency to be among all 5 eyes to fail so I'm starting a new currency called K1VV1 where everything needs to be Fresh I'll swap you - Lamb for Fresh Fish ... and you can have a chat with the lamb if you like the fish just needs to be fresh 0k I'll swap you - Fresh Chicken for Fresh Fish I'll swap you - Fresh Eggs for Fresh fish I'll swap you - Goat for fish LandLocked K1VV1 - Northland - is Not Linked / has Zero shares in the New Zealand Reserve Bank ... Thus we only deal with Fresh
Love this fish fingers in 20+ mtrs onwards. At 45mtrs you’re better off keeping them fish I’m afraid. Their mortality rate is very low at that depth.
guys,,as much as i like your videos,,how many of those fish that you released do you think actually survived after comming up from 45 meters,,you could see the air comming out of them as they neared the surface,,their internal organs will be damaged,,better to keep them and come home early just saying
Love how you let the big ones go, thanks for the upload 👍🏻
Looks like you launched from Gulf Harbour, head SE from there towards the cable zone 20 m deep, plenty of jacks. Not that it us any good on the kings Friday, two hook ups one dropped and one to the taxman in a grey suit
Fishing the penn reels and you have a sustain just out getting some sunlight...haha, nice fish caught and good on you for putting some of the bigger models back!👍
Hey nice fishing, just a little heads up the trevally still has to be of legal size to use as a live bait, I don’t know if you measured it or not but it didn’t look 250mm
Good day 😉, what type of hull is your boat?
Deep V buccaneer 565 excess.
Pretty OTT to have as many rod/reel setups on board for just 2 fisherman & not that it helped your haul. A 1 time watch.
:D
It was a great day John! Looking forward to the next day out on the water with you and Simon.
Cheers John, great enjoyable video of you, and your fellow fisho’s, as always 🎣🐟🐟
