James is such a sweet guy. He used to come into the cafe I worked at in college in Evanston every so often back in '97. I had a huge crush on this German au pair that would come in on weekends, and I couldn't summon my inner rizz until one day James held the door open for her when she had trouble pushing her stroller through. She comes up to the counter and I whisper, "hey, you know who the Smashing Pumpkins are?" She says "Yeah, they're my favorite band!" "Well, that's James Iha who held the door open for you." She was absolutely star struck. So during my break, I took that as my opportunity and asked if I could sit with her and talk a bit. She said yes. We dated for a bit. She moved back to Germany. She came to the US for my wedding about ten years ago, and we still talk to this day, more than 25 years on. (I know, "cool story, bro.") So thanks, James, for that serendipitous moment that led to a lifetime friendship. This album reminds me of that wonderful summer, perhaps the best summer of my life until then.

When this album came out wasn’t sure what to expect even after hearing James songs during previous SP records. But this album flows beautifully from start to finish.
