The basis of European science advancement is rooted in classical culture which educates the mind of people. Unfortunately technology is also used for military purposes. The driving force has always been the Leibnizian principle of the pursuit of happiness which has been adopted by the authors of the US Declaration of Independence. The best expression of this is the current 8 billion people living on the planet today. Both Hermann Oberth and Wernher von Braun have always intended to lift humanity in to space. The next step, to go beyond low earth orbit, will never be achieved by a culture driven by rapmusic and drugs. My best guess is that the Chinese will take the torch of scientific advancement while the rules based order tries to sabotage their efforts. They might even recruit an Hollywood alien or two to spread their negative outlook of human creativity and achievement.

Another interesting, heretofore unknown, tidbit to ponder… I sure would like to know why the operation and events remain classified 77 years after the events occurred? I’m sure the crews have all since passed, but I wonder if there isn’t a child or grandchild of one of those crew members who was told an an interesting tale in their youth…

Another insane British Soldier is Sir Adrian Carton de Wiart. After war he wrote "I had a really good time", AFTER being shot in the eye, lost his arm, blown up charging machine gun nest with a handgun and still took it, many many more injuries etc. Served in a war before ww1, ww1, and ww2 His exploits are more than legendary

There are many stories like this of amazing men and weomen that their stories are recorded but not well known or presented in movies and literature. I hate when it is just another retelling of the same story with the actor of the year. History is usually more interesting and amazing than fiction. It would be great to see more of these stories told.

That's where I came from even fished for elvers from the banks of the Severn.where if I hadn't paid a attention, would of be swept away by one of the tidal bore . Saw several bores racing up the Severn & yes they still do surfe the Severn Bore up River , you can see them.on RUclips . By the way the locals make a few Bob netting glass eels over the spring tide season but I never did but managed to keep my feet dry .
