I’m excited to share my 2025 planner and journal lineup in this video in my “techo kaigi” (notebook meeting). I talk about making a shift from the 2024 one-book experiment to a more compartmentalized system for 2025, my Hobonichi Weeks planners for work and health tracking, inspired by @LittleCocoStudio, reviving a cherished baby book in a Hobonichi Techo Original, using Traveler’s Notebooks fo...
2024 planner recap ✿ hobonichi cousin, a6 techo original, traveler's notebook

Welcome to my first video on Tiny Tiger Collective! 🎉 I’m Helena, an academic, mom, and stationery lover. To launch my new RUclips channel, I’m sharing a recap of my 2024 planners and journals, reflecting on what worked and didn’t work in my perpetual pursuit of planner peace. In this video, you’ll hear about my experiences with the Hobonichi Cousin as an all-in-one planner, a heartfelt look at...
That tiny TN charm is adorable!!! I am guilty of purchasing notebooks when I don't always have a plan. I've been trying to reign it in, but 2024 was not a shining moment from that perspective. I have tried two of the three pens you showcased in your video. I didnt have the greatest experience with my Lamy Safari, so I didn't explore other pens in that line after that. Maybe someday, I'll get a chance to try it out! I can relate to what you said about the enjoyment of using stickers and tapping into your inner child. I have always loved stickers and stationery. Getting lost in a notebook brings me so much comfort. 🥹 I just have to keep checking in with myself to make sure I'm not getting too excessive with my stationery hobby. It's so easy to spend money on cute things! Thank you for sharing your perspective on the scarcity mindset and how it can negatively impact our wellbeing. I enjoyed hearing about your favourite items, your thoughts on consumerism and how you've managed it. I look forward to hearing about your "flops" in your next video!
I think travel years ought to be given more grace, especially when you go to a stationery paradise like Japan 😄. We're clearly not alone in the comfort and joy stationery and cute stickers offer us, and these warm and genuine communities are so far and few in between. I can empathise with a Lamy aversion. My first fountain pen was a Lamy CP1 for some reason and the experience was so awful I was put off fountain pens for the next 10 years before stumbling into the stationery RUclips community in 2023 gave me the confidence to try them again. My Lamy 2000 wasn't exactly love at first sight and it took finding the right ink (the first ink I tried in it was J. Herbin Perle Noire and it was too dry) to get into the flow (pun intended). Thanks so much for being here and taking the time to leave such a kind and thoughtful comment! 💛 Your support means a lot to me. See you again soon!
I love your handwriting! It's so dynamic and elegant, the flourishes are great.
Thank you so much! That’s so kind of you to say 😊. Writing with a good pen helps a lot… and my handwriting can look pretty bad with a crappy pen. Thanks for taking the time to comment! 💛
Just discovered your channel through this video, which was such a pleasure to watch and listen to. Your handwriting is gorgeous! Looking forward to seeing how you use your books!
@@HannaChoe Oh thank you so much for saying so, and taking the time to offer this kind, supportive message! It is really encouraging for me as a new channel to read your note. 💛 Thanks for being here, and hope to see you in another video! ☺️
I love how you're using all your planners. Your handwriting is stunning 😍 I'm in the throws of menopause and personally wouldn't say there's anything to look forward to 😂 however its super smart of you for being proactive with your health and inflammation etc your future self with absolutely love you for this!! Bravo ❤
@@Saturdays.Script Thank you so much for your kind encouragement! ☺️ Hahaha I think I was in an exceptionally good mood and it was an oddly optimistic choice of words in the moment! 😂 My mother went through menopause around 10 years ago and she had a very rough time. She told me at one stage she looked at a website with a big list of symptoms and realised she had all of them. I’m hoping to make up for the minimal knowledge I have about menopause and feel at least a little less thrown off guard when it arrives. I hope you have good care from your community and a smart, empathetic, and compassionate doctor! Power to you!! 💪 Thanks again for taking the time to comment. It really means a lot to me and my small channel!
My name is Helena too 😊 I journaled in a Hobonichi Cousin for years, but last year I changed my system. Just like you I didn’t like having my weekly pages with stickers and happy memories together with the daily pages that were more of the dear diary type. I tried having a separate memory planner, and journaled in an A6 Hobonichi last year. Now I have the A6 planner for journaling about my feelings, and I use a Cousin Avec for planning, tracking and memory keeping. I’ll see how this feels.
Really enjoy your videos! Thanks for sharing!
Thanks for coming back! It means a lot 🥰.
This was such a lovely and relaxing video! 🥰 I’ve always kept multiple journals but I’ve tried to be very intentional about my practice this year - including giving daily/creative journaling another go, and using Hobonichi for the first time! 🎉 I wish you a lot of fun with your YT-channel and I’m excited to follow along 😊🙌
Thanks so much for your kind and generous message! 😊 Your journaling intentions for the new year sound splendid. I hope you enjoy your new Hobonichi planner!! Which one/s did you get? I really appreciate you taking the time to write a comment and hope to see you again soon 💛.
Loved seeing your favorites! The Kyoto edition TN is so beautiful 😍It was so helpful to hear you talk about pen and ink pairings as well. Coincidentally, I just ordered a sample of Kiri-Same today haha!
You have impeccable taste! 😊 Kiri-Same is a wonderful ink. I’ve honestly not yet found a fountain pen it doesn’t work well in. What pen will you be inking it up with?
@ oh that’s so good to know! I ended up ordering a TWSBI Eco! I know you recommended a TWSBI Diamond 580, but since this is my first FP I wanted to start at a more beginner price point, so I felt the Eco might be a good start! Plus I’ve heard they’re quite similar? I’m soo excited💕
@moonlit.journal I think that’s a terrific choice for a starter fountain pen. I’ve never used one but I know lots of people who love it. I would recommend TWSBI’s in general over a Lamy Safari (another popular starter fountain pen), but I can’t say I love my Diamond 580 because the weight makes it a little tiring to use. I think the Eco is lighter and may very well be more comfortable ☺️. Hope it comes soon!
@@tinytigerco Oh that's good to know about the 580! I was able to try an Eco in store and it felt great, so smooth and comfortable in my hand.
What a great discussion! Thank you so much for sharing. I've just discovered your channel and I love it! Looking forward to watching more of your videos. ❤
Ohh that's such a kind message, thank you!! ☺ I'm delighted you're here. I look forward to seeing you in more videos. Thanks so much for supporting my new channel! 💛
Thank you for this!!! One of my favorites have been the Writech pens and highlighters!
Thank you for your terrific recommendation! Writech pens look gorgeous!! I’ll check them out as I use a lot of highlighters and gel pens for work ☺️. Thanks also for watching and taking the time to comment. It means a lot to me as a new channel 💛.
love this video! you have inspired to start by narrative business journey planner 💚
Thank you so much for watching, Ilaria! I'm so excited to hear how your planner supports your handmade jewelry business this year 💛. Wishing you every success!!
Love to have found your channel ❤ Thanks for sharing!
Love that you’re here, thank you so much for taking the time to comment! Hope you’re off to a good start with your planners and journals too 😊.
Lovely video! Your handwriting is gorgeous, and everything was so relaxing and beautiful.
@@fireflynebula That’s incredibly kind of you to say, thank you so much for your encouragement and support!! ☺️ Hope to see you again!
Thanks so much for sharing your techo kaigi! I especially love the simplicity and minimalism of your travel journal, it’s really inspiring me to not get so intimidated about backfilling mine 😅 looking forward to more of your videos!
@@alexmakingthings Absolutely! I sometimes feel a little intimidated when I see travel journals full of gorgeous watercolour urban paintings and 2,000-word essays on each location. I do a lot of backfilling when the immediate experiences are long past but I can add some simple decorations that remind me of my favourite memories. Thank you so much for your kind words and encouragement! I really appreciate you being here 😊. Look forward to learning more about your journals whenever you may care to share! 💛
Love, love, love!
@@robwhite7976 Thank you so much! 💛 By the way, I love your profile picture! It’s the same vibe as my beloved dogs in bus Hobonichi cover by Keiko Shibata 😄.
What a fun video! Your voice is very relaxing, and I just love listening to people talk about their systems and journals.
@@lookout4liz Thank you for your very kind comment, Liz! ☺️ I love unwinding by listening to people talk about their systems and journals too. I really appreciate you taking the time to comment and support my new channel! 💛

@@anni7039 Thank you for watching my first two videos and supporting my tiny channel! ☺️
I love your first video. I’m glad RUclips recommended your channel. 😊
Yay! Thank you! I so appreciate your kind words and encouragement 🥰.
Great first video with exceptionally fluent narration.
That’s very kind of you! I found the video excruciating to listen back to because of all the mistakes I made. Your feedback is incredibly encouraging! Thank you so much for taking the time to comment 💛.
Congratulations on starting your channel and thank you for sharing your techo kaigi! I loved hearing your thought process on how you’re switching the pendulum and trying out multiple books. I agree that you couldn’t have picked a better A6 cover for your son’s baby book. 🐶🚌 Thank you as well for the kind shoutout on your health and wellness planner! 🥹 I love that we have matching covers and that you were able to adapt it to your needs during your December experiments. I look forward to hearing how you feel about this multi-book system throughout the year! Ps. Congrats on reading 100 books in 2024! That’s incredible!
@@LittleCocoStudio Thank you so much, Alison! It means a lot to me that you’ve taken the time to offer your encouragement and support ☺️. Filming videos of both flipping through planners and talking at the same time was much harder than I expected! Does it get easier with practice? My son asks to look through his “special book” all the time 😄. Keiko Shibata is an artistic genius!! I’ve been slowly developing the habit of updating my health and wellness planner more regularly. It’s been a truly functional tool that has helped me be more intentional about caring for my heart, body, and mind. The paper in the new Hobonichi Weeks has been something to get used to. I’m glad you also noticed the thicker lines and I’m not going mad. I’ve even had some bleed through which has never happened for me with Tomoe River paper before. An opportunity to use more of my finer pens, I suppose! I’ve loved discovering audiobooks! I’m going to treat myself to a nice fountain pen for reaching that big hairy goal last year. I might pick up the Platinum you recommended in your live! 🖋️
Loved hearing about your 2025 system! I really appreciated your intro and completely agree - this community is so kind and supportive to one another ❤ I also felt the same way about the Cousin, having everything in one place started to feel disorganized/chaotic for me which is why I've also decided to compartmentalize my books this year. I hope your 2025 books serve you well! ✨ Kind of a random question but what fountain pen do you use? I'm just starting to get into fountain pens and I like the thickness of your writing! 🙂
@@moonlit.journal You’ve been a big part of how entering this community this past week has felt warm and welcoming! 😊 It’s so interesting we both came to the same realization about the Cousin. I can’t wait to see how you experiment with your new system. I hope you find planner peace this year too! ✨ Not random at all! I’m always happy to talk about fountain pens 😄. I got into Hobonichi planners because their paper was recommended as especially suitable for my fountain pens. In my Cousin, the pens I’ve used in the writing featured include TWSBI Diamond 580 with a Fine nib, Sailor Pro Gear Slim with a Medium Fine nib, Lamy 2000 with an Extra Fine nib, and Pilot Custom 823 with a Fine nib. I find EF and F nibs are typically the best for Hobonichi’s small grid sizes. This year, the paper in my Weeks are performing differently than my 2024 Cousin. As such, inks are spreading more on the page and pens are writing ever so slightly more broadly. I’ve been using my Sailors with the <MF> nibs but in my personal opinion, they don’t look as good as they do in the Cousin. Hope that’s not too much information! If there’s ever a specific pen or ink you see that looks good, don’t ever hesitate to ask 🙂. I hope you do choose to enter the fabulous world of fountain pens! It’s so much fun!! 🖋️
@@tinytigerco Thank you SO much!! This is so helpful - there's so much content and so many opinions about fountain pens, it can get very confusing haha. Really appreciate you taking the time to help me out! And thank you for your kind words, excited to see how your system goes as well! ❤
@ You’re most welcome! I remember it was rather overwhelming when I first got into fountain pens as well. Especially as the community exploded in the last few years and there has been torrent of emerging brands, models, designs, and inks. Keep me posted (no pun intended) of you go! ☺️
@@tinytigerco Yess it really has exploded! Haha I will definitely keep you posted ☺
Such a beautiful and peaceful video Helena, I adored it! Your handwriting is just incredible. This gave me lots of ideas and I can’t wait to see your 2025 lineup. ❤
