    Why do you want to grease the pen lead? Does it inhibit the flow of ink? I do not understand what is being done.

    Thanks a lot for this very well made video, providing detailed informations what and how to do a disassembly of these much to much overpriced pens. I have a 146, bought it around 25 years ago, used it rarely and now wanted to clean it thoroughly as I am used to this process with all my other FP from various brands and price categories. Honestly, I'm entirely done with MB. Removing the piston was hard, removing the nib/feed-unit was a nightmare due to that pink sealing gel which worked more like glue in my case. To disassemble nib and feed was impossible most probably because I don't have this block and the metal stick. Moreover the resin part at the very end of ther pen which is connected with the nib/feed housing unit got a white/grey color after leaving it in probably to hot water (50 degrees?) when trying to wash out ink remains. I remember that the pen cost was 330 DM 25 years ago, nowadays they want the double amount in Euro and one need to buy 3 more expensive tools only useable for MB 146/149 and only useable for the production time after the 1990's until the early 2000's if one want to do a common (with other pen brands) cleaning or nib swap. Or you lay down another 150 to 250 Euros/Dollars in a "MB-Boutique". No spare parts, no easy nib swap, just greedy open hands by this now swiss-owned former german traditional brand. In addition the ink flow of my M-nib became insufficient. That's were all my negative experiences with Montblanc "Meisterstueck" started. No, definetly I don't need those overpriced "prestigeous" fancy brands. But it was a necessary experience to watch this excellent professional video and my many tries afterwards.

    Hello, thanks for this! I have a 149 with the nib slightly off kilter to the side. following these instructions I was able to disassemble in the hopes of putting it back seated better. But the fit is so tight that I can't get the nib and feeder case back together--the whole thing is way too tight. I'm wondering how to actually get them back together, given that they had to be knocked out with a a set of tools. Thanks for any advice!

    The nib seems to be sticking out too far (both before disassembly and after reassembly), as it seems disproportionately long. The stamped "149" on the nib is visible. This part of the nib is normally hidden in the section. Lastly, the feed doesn't seem to reach far enough near the tip of the nib, as I detect a larger empty space. I hope the pen writes properly, considering this

    Bought a Montblanc Meisterstruk Le Grand rollerball two weeks ago. I want to replace the clip with a custom made clip. My problem is that I can’t turn the dome, to get the clip. Is it true that they started glueing the dome to get to the clip. I called a jewelry store that represents Montblanc and they can’t disassemble and send me the pieces…against Montblanc policies. Do you know how I can disassemble the glued on dome to the clip. Thanks!

    My 149 (vintage, I think it is from the 70's) is leaking near the threads and dirty my fingers a bit. I think the leak is on the sleeve. When we remove the nib/feeder-case, the sleeve will come easily off? I see the nib tools on eBay but when they unscrew the nib, the sleeve does not come out from the barrel as you do on your video. Could you clarify?

  • @panuozzo7769

    Stop making disinformation you should never do that. Silicone grease acts like a seal. If you put it on the nib it could hinder the flow The only reasonable use for silicone grease is for threads and pistons

    Hi, this was very instructive. I recieved a Montblanc Meisterstruk years ago as a gift and stupidly filled it with india ink ( I'm an artist ) and messed it up. Thankfully I didn't try to "fix" it and do even worse damage. I really loved it and one site I visited said I could try disassembling the basic pieces that come apart without tools - nib assembly, plunger/piston assembly in plain water. I did this and much to my delight a lot of ink came out of the nib and even better the plunger/piston assembly began turning again. It looks like further cleaning would be required. My pen is labeled meisterstruk on the clip but no number follows. It is much more slender. The number on the nib besides the 14k is either 085 or 585, hard for me to tell. As I watched this video, there were some differences in my piston/plunger part and cone area. Do you have any familiarity with my pen. I could send you a photo. I have a feeling it is a more modest pen but I sure loved using it. Would you consider taking a look at it or giving me some advice on disassembling the nib and piston to clean it. I have a feeling it could be restored

    I'm sorry, but you should never let silicone grease near a nib or feed. You will foul the ink channels of the feed. The silicone grease should only go on the threads of the nib unit.

    • @hankosaurus
      @hankosaurus 5 лет назад

      I wondered the same about silicone in the feed channel. Could it be that flushing the pen will expel the silicone in the feed channel? I found the video useful and insightful. I am not afraid to take my 149 apart now. Thank you hcsk8ter.

    • @WhatIInk
      @WhatIInk 4 года назад

      @@hankosaurus Probably not, plus there is no reason to grease anything other than the threads.

    Hello. I have a 1950's 146. Tryed to disassemble the nib with the wrong tool and end up with a crack in the rubber band just at the end of the section. No serious montblanc service in my country. I took it to a pen specialist who glued the crack. Almost imperceptible but little leak of ink in your fingers. Could you help me with this?

    @dalotel though i can't agree with you more, i am only one year into the hobby and though i already know how the 2 stroke engines work completely, there are only a few things i know about four stroke. so lets talk about 2 stroke.

  • @mrfourtysevenman
    @mrfourtysevenman 14 лет назад

    @dalotel i am a good 3d pilot and my engine is 40+ years old. i am not saying four stroke is bad but i would never buy one because 1) why pay 200 dollars more when a 2 stroke is going to work? 2) four strokes are harder to take care of and easier to ruin and that fits my description. 3) o.s. is not crap. saito is good though if i was offered to trade a 2 stroke for a saito i would.

  • @mrfourtysevenman
    @mrfourtysevenman 14 лет назад

    @dalotel for your imformation, o.s. engines are great. i dont know any other better brand. i have super tigre, OS and enya. and yes. i like trainers. they are good sunday fliers but i am more into my 3D airplanes. if o.s. engines do exactly what they are designed to do, why are they bad?

  • @mrfourtysevenman
    @mrfourtysevenman 14 лет назад
