My first attempt at Saturn
Просмотров 87912 лет назад
It is 10pm and still in the 90s. The sky is all hazy and glowing red, in short a horrible night for imagining. But it is Friday; I just had my first real imagining success earlier this week so I am eager to try again. The results seen below are ok for a first attempt but it will be interesting to see how much I can improve on this with a winter sky and some more experience. At any rate, RegiSta...

    I just bought a 5SE. At the 8 minute mark you talk about making an adjustment if the subject isn't centered any more. If you make this adjustment, does the telescope adjust how it tracks accordingly? Or will it go off center again in 5 minutes?

      I am trying I am learning TinyGo and microcontrollers as I go, so keep that in mind. I just created another video on how to monitor your serial port. I very simple task but it took me to long to find the tool and get my board working so here it is. ruclips.net/video/bkRySPeIXeU/видео.html My next post will be on stepper motors. I am going to stick with TinyGo exclusively for all my stuff. Thanks for watching

    Fun fact you can actually turn that shaft by hand. Spin the shaft and use the flywheel for extra leverage and you can roll your tractor forward and back. Make sure parking brakes off tho.😂

    I used the same basic idea on my 10' home made, plywood dome. The 4" friction drive roller was mounted on a cotterless bottom bracket axle on the short end of a pivoted and counterbalanced length of 2x4 to provide upward force. I used a cheap, square axle, single chainset with a chain drive down to a lower chainset and crank beside my imaging desk. It needs the underside of the base ring to be dry and reasonably true. I added sunbed tension springs to the 2x4 to increase the upward force to cope with damp weather.

    Hey Tony, wondering if you ever completed this project? Would be cool to see it in action. I’m working on an old TI ProDome PD15 that has been giving so much trouble with the DDW controller, I’ve fixed the circuit board and have it now where it’ll communicate with the software over rs232 but it times out for 5 minutes at a time and I’m pretty certain the problem is in the processor itself. Which leads me here, it looks like the Lesvedomenet setup is going to be the easiest upgrade for our situation (low budget). Are you happy with this kit? Any pros and cons you can share?

    Is that the open part of wedge to the north or the hinge itself?

  • @arctic_ita
    @arctic_ita 5 лет назад

    The number you read on the marker rod of the 4/5SE must be read from the top and it's aligned with the surface, not in the hole you're pointing in the video, in fact if you lower it horizontally it'll be 90° (you can't read it because it's obstructed of course), and not the "85" you would read from the bottom hole. Also, that number doesn't show the actual plate inclination but the latitude (that works inversely), in example if you live at 30°N latitude, the rod will be set to 30, but if you measure the real angle of the plate, it will be 90-30 = 60°, if you live at pole, the rod will show 90 but the angle will be zero.. and so on. And finally, with the most recent software (4+) you have ASPA (all star polar alignment): you can use any star (better to use those ones far from the celestial pole) for a polar alignment.

  • @ThatDamnPandaKai
    @ThatDamnPandaKai 6 лет назад

    Not sure why, but the wedge does't match the actual angle being measured on my mount... It's off by like 10-15 degrees.

  • @LolandBordfotballklubb
    @LolandBordfotballklubb 6 лет назад

    @ 1:33 in the video : I'm pretty sure you are supposed to read the markings (30-35-40-45-50 etc.) from where the rod comes out ON THE TOP, not where you are pointing to at the bottom of the place it dissapears into the mechanism. Maybe this is why you had so much problems. If you were off by almost 10 degrees every time.

    There is no good reason to make one from a stereo cord. The cable needed is a standard, very inexpensive, shutter release cord you can buy on Amazon or eBay or from your local camera store. Get the one that fits your camera. For many cameras it has the 2.5mm connectors on both ends. Other Cameras like my Nikon D610 have a different connector on the camera end.

  • @fuzzyGSpot

    Could you please tell me what model/type of landscape rake you have? I bought the quick hitch from Harbor Freight and it works great with my box cutter. However, it does not work with the 5' landscape rake from TA outright. It might require a quick hitch adapter but I noticed that your landscape rake top hitch was recessed forward thus allowing all the hooks to work in unison. I have a JD 1025R
