A Letter to my Boyhood Self
These are the things I'd say to myself as a child if I had the chance to speak to him. Even though literally speaking to your past self is impossible, I think writing it out is a rewarding exercise for anyone to engage in. It certainly was for me.
I have used clips from the two coming of age movies which impacted me the most profoundly:
Boyhood 2014 Dir. Richard Linklater
Stand by Me 1986 Dir. Rob Reiner
Clips from National Geographic were also used and the following song:

    My "favorite" movie as well I saw it 15 times in the theater alone (that is 100% true - no exaggeration) I was 30 then, and sorta dealing with the superficial angst of aging at the time Now as a man in my late 40s, I have been able to realize the deeper layers of the film and how scarily accurate they all feel vis a vis aging and the acceptance of it all. The film is a stone cold masterpiece Great Vid!

      I’m pushing 30 and I dare say I’m experiencing that same angst of aging, which is in large part what motivated me to make this video. It’s really interesting to hear how the movie resonates with you at a deeper level the older you get. It’s definitely one I’ll rewatch every few years for the rest of my life.

    Great video, but I'm failing to see the "accidental" part, for much of the meta aspects just are by design.

    • @BrendanLorenzo
      @BrendanLorenzo 14 дней назад

      @@wandersonoliveira263 Thank you, I’m glad you enjoyed it! Whilst many of the meta aspects were by design, the movie ended up becoming even more meta than it intended, hence the use of “accidental” in the title. Some unintentional meta elements include Keaton playing The Vulture in Spiderman and Norton’s contention with Iñarritu in real life. But above all, I’m struck by the fact that by making Birdman, Iñarritu and Keaton received the adoration from fans and critics alike that the protagonist, Riggan Thomson was hoping for. Iñarritu and Keaton can’t control how an audience is going to react to their work, making this the most significant unintentional meta element of all.

    At 3:20, you missed an important part of the movie - her character got dosed up on a tranquiliser so she could tolerate what the soldiers were about to do to them. I'd say look at her earlier scenes rather than these.

      @@Sir_Jimmothy Her behaviour barely shifts before and after taking the Valium pills, she’s just as ditsy and unconcerned beforehand. And she seems too lucid to be on a heap of painkillers. It takes a lot of research and rehearsal to accurately portray being under the influence of a drug, and I think her work was missing that level of detail.

    Does Art not win the challenger match?

    • @BrendanLorenzo
      @BrendanLorenzo 2 месяца назад

      Not quite... The last point in the movie is the first point of the tiebreak, so there's at least 6 more points left to play. Also, Art touches the net while the ball is still in play, which would disqualify him.
