A great idea to reduce the road toll. We know it's an advert, but still a great idea!

Vic Roads - Giving Way To Emergency Vehicles
I've always known to look right and give way to those travelling through the round about from the right hand side. Why the hell give an ambiguous answer such as give way to everyone in the round about. That can mean even giving way to those on the left, even if they forget to give way to you.
Why would you need to signal left to exit. Seems stupid
This is actually a think people in Victoria need to put up with. WTF?
🙏 thanks 👍
if i one side stop sign, one side giveway sign. who is first? Thx.
Be happy to help you out there. If you at a stop sign and they have a give way sign. The person with the give way sign has right of way over you.
I hate this so much
Too hard for NSWs
Does this include pedestrians travelling across the intersection? I both drive and walk and I give way to pedestrians at a stop/give way sign. I have noticed, when walking, that many cars drive straight up to the intersection blocking walkers who are on the footpath of the main street. Does anybody know the rules in this regard (keeping in mind that it's not worth colliding with a car either way)
By that rule i will be sitting there all day
wtf
Excellent
What about around about with island and car are all ready in around about please ?
Stupid way
Notice how they dont show the example of a car entering the roundabout on your left before you, its because they dont expect people to give way even though its against the rule. So silly.
The "safe gap" statement (near the end of the vid) holds. The car entering at your "exit 1" is no risk of collision. "Give way to all vehicles already in the roundabout" doesn't mean "wait for all cars to clear the roundabout". So it's not against the rule for you to enter.
@@lionelmrocki7955 Not really. Safe gap in traffic could mean anything. The clearest and most specific instruction is that you must give way to all vehicles already in the roundabout. The imagery used alongside the instructions also support the 'gap' being no traffic in the roundabout. You might consider for example the very first instruction as 'safe', but still the car waits. When instructed there to be 'a safe gap in traffic', the graphic shows a completely clear intersection. Just another rule no-one follows.
Hook turn??? We Americans never done that before
It's always give way to all vehicles in the roundabout. Simply put whoever is there first goes first. There's a secondary road rule about driving at a safe speed for all circumstances. If your approaching a roundabout slow down. It's a common sense thing. But quite a lot of people think it's give way to your right. It never has been. Those people crash through at speed without even considering giving way to any vehicles on the left. Most don't even look. So a general rule is assume the vehicle in the right is going to crash into you even if your entering lawfully at a safe speed. Vic road should be more visible on roundabout rules.
Well if you're in a left hand drive country, you should give way to cars coming from the right on a roundabout
umm give way to bus while merging right lane not left
If a bus stops in a bus bay or in this case a parking lane, when rejoins the traffic, that is the left lane as it's the running lane furthest to the left
Thank you
If 2 vehicles approached the round about at same time, who has priority?
In Victoria, if the other vehicle is a tram, it has. If any other vehicle approaches from your right, and could hit yours, then it has priority. On larger roundabouts, where the entry points are further apart, with a curve to negotiate in between, and no chance of both vehicles getting together, they can both enter at the same time and rely on good driving and the common speed range enforced by the curve, to keep them apart. `Give way` means `yield` - not `stop and wait for a vehicle that has no chance of getting close to yours`.
Braemont yea I agree just giving way to your right is more logical considering that some people travel 70km/h entering roundabouts however the official rule means that if the person speeding in from the right hits the car that was already in the roundabout then they’re at fault. Hence why a lot of roundabouts say slow down to 40km/h. Nonetheless it’s not worth risking your life by expecting the person on your right to stop for you 👍
what sort of FUCK WIT invented this kind of turn? this is just STUPID
better than turning the corner regularly and getting T-boned by a 60 ton tram like that car did today on Collins St
In traffic lane closures or parked cars essentially mean merging is up to the kindness of other drivers rather than a legal requirement. I know why no one let's me merge when lanes are running out now! You should be required to let the car in front of you merge.

Great!
Anyone know why the green car yielded to the red one despite hitting the line first?
The green car waited for other cars to appear just for illustrative purposes and it wouldn't have been safe to try and squeeze in behind the light blue car
The green car was still giving way to the blue car. The red car was permitted to enter because there was a safe gap. The Green car then had to continue giving way to the red car. "Hitting the line first" isn't a priority or any right of way.
So this would suggest that merging on to a freeway you should come to a complete stop if there is no gap? Great rule :/ No wonder traffic is so fucked up in Victoria.
People use this rule to over take you from left, just to jump few cars in queue. Causing everyone to slow down.
