I'm so sorry I missed this castle in April, I wasn't far away. Supposedly, King John appointed my ancestor Piers FitzHerbert governor of Pickering Castle and Sheriff of Yorkshire in 1214 to 1215. (I live in California, so it's not an easy trip!) Thanks for the great video, which will have to do for now.

Great documentary, but I hate it when the narrative is spoken by a computer generated voice, which constantly mispronounces Glamorgan, Caerphilly Carnarvon and Llewelyn. By the way I’m Welsh and live in Caerphilly so this really grates with me.
