Great to hear you are just starting and already doing some studying! Don't take my play too seriously though as I am definitely making mistakes and learning too! When it comes to ranges, it's best to think about each round of action as a filter for your opponents range. Did they check call or raise? Those would be different ranges. I'd recommend Jonathan Little and Marc Goone as very good study material. Take notes of some hands you've played and review to improve!

$1/2 here at Orange City isn't much different from $1/2 anywhere else in Florida. At least half the players are playing for fun, and don't bother studying at all. Learn the basics of preflop starting ranges, never limp unless you are on the button, play less hands and raise bigger when you do have a good hand. The vast majority of $1/2 players everywhere call to frequently, commit too much money (calling or raising) with top pairs, and generally are much more likely to check/call than to bet/raise. DON'T BE LIKE OTHER PLAYERS IF YOU WANT TO BE A WINNING PLAYER!
